The Flash is currently in the midst of its ninth and final season, but the series finale is quickly approaching. While speaking with TVLine, The Flash star Grant Gustin answered fan questions, including if he was happy with where Barry Allen ends up at the end of the series.
Grant Gustin replied that he was, but shared that he always imagined the series ending with Barry’s death. “When I thought about [The Flash] ending, there was a theory out there that Barry would sacrifice himself to keep the Speed Force alive and become the lightning bolt that inevitably struck him [in the pilot] and create this full circle moment, which I thought was really cool,” Gustin said. “I kinda always wanted him to die a hero’s death in a way, and Eric [Wallace] was very opposed to the idea, and we really wanted to see a happy ending for Barry and Iris.

The Flash Season 9 Episode 4
The Flash continues to raise the stakes in its final season, revealing the true identity of the villainous Red Death, putting both Barry and Iris in mortal danger, and unleashing a deranged Ryan Wilder from another timeline on Central City after Team Flash thwarts her efforts to build a cosmic treadmill to send herself home.
Played by Batwoman’s Javicia Leslie, who gets to be both cunning and crazy by turns this week as a Batwoman who was raised by the Waynes and developed a dangerous obsession with her enemies’ technology and a bone-deep hatred of her world’s Flash, Red Death may be a speedster, but she’s certainly not like any villain Team Flash has seen before.

What a tumultuous time it is to be a fan of DC TV and movies. Aside from the fact that the Dceu was a mass of chaotic energy almost from the word go, there’s also been the ongoing confusion about the multiversal aspects: the multiple Batmen and Jokers, the fact that the TV shows have nothing to do with the movies, the fact that entire movies simply ceased to exist and were banished to limbo after they had already wrapped, never to be seen by mortal eyes.
And then there have been the rumors (so many rumors), the false starts, and the closing of longstanding movie and TV legacies as new DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran begin to lay out their own new vision for their Dcu of the future.
Despite all of that, 2023 is a veritable bounty of riches for fans of DC movies and TV shows.

Well, we’ve all known this is coming for a while, but it’s getting more real by the day. Cisco Ramon is leaving Team Flash. Which means in the real world that Carlos Valdes is leaving The Flash. No more Vibe. No more cool and nerdy t-shirts. No more awesome villain names. It’s a bummer.
To be fair, it feels like The Flash has been teasing Cisco’s departure forever by now. Cisco took a hiatus from the team last season to go investigate post-Crisis on Infinite Earths anomalies and to visit Atlantis. The show has been trying out potential new Team Flash members in the form of Brandon McKnight’s generally delightful Chester P. Runk and Kayla Compton’s Allegra Garcia.

It's Barry Allen against the Mirrorverse in the first trailer for The Flash Season 7.
At the end of the pandemic-shortened The Flash Season 6, Mirror Mistress/Eva McCulloch escaped from the Mirrorverse, leaving poor Iris trapped there, while Sue Dearborn was framed for her husband's murder.
The rest of the team were trying to find a way to prevent the inevitable:
The loss of Barry's speed.
In the newly released trailer, Barry attempts to battle the Mirror Mistress, despite his speed fizzling out.
With the return of Caitlin/Killer Frost, there may be another way to take the villain down, but how will all of this affect Iris?
With the series being shut down early last season, some of the storylines will now be carried over to the new season, and the showrunner thinks that fans should pay close attention to the teasers.
"When we had the shutdown happen as unfortunate as it was,...

The Flash season 6 only just wrapped up this past Tuesday, but we’ve already got a synopsis for the seventh season of the Scarlet Speedster’s show. Yesterday (May 14th), The CW revealed their schedule for the 2020/2021 television year, which made clear that the network’s original programming will be held off until next January as a result of the pandemic. We’ve got a long while to wait until we return to Central City, then, but at least this description promises that it should be worth it.
Season 6’s finale, “Success is Assured,” left things on a downbeat note as Barry Allen and friends were unable to prevent Eva McCulloch’s schemes from coming to fruition. Obviously, they would have defeated her in the original last few episodes of the season though, so you’d expect this to play out at the beginning of season 7.
Sure enough, this synopsis...

And you thought Crisis on Infinite Earths was going to be the end of The Flash? Think again! The CW had already confirmed The Flash Season 7 renewal back in January, only halfway through the show’s sixth season. The Flash Season 7 renewal news came alongside renewals for fellow Arrowverse shows Batwoman, Black Lightning, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl, as well as Nancy Drew, All American, Charmed, Dynasty, Legacies, Roswell, Nm, and Riverdale.
“These early orders for next season give our production teams a head start in plotting out story arcs and a jump on hiring staff, and this also provides us with a strong foundation of established, fan-favorite CW shows to build on for next season,” said CW President Mark Pedowitz back in January. “We’ve been thrilled with the creative direction of all three new series, and even though we are in the very early stages of our new full stack streaming strategy,...

The long-awaited introduction of Sue Dearbon on The Flash is a big deal for fans of the show for many reasons and thankfully, her small-screen debut did not disappoint, giving us an episode that both played up her charming chemistry with Ralph and slyly subverted some of the worst aspects of her character’s comics story. But Sue’s arrival isn’t just a great piece of highly anticipated fan service. No, it’s also a significant part of a much larger, long overdue trend. Because as we head into the back half of Season 6, The Flash is finally telling stories about its female characters, and the show has rarely felt so exciting to watch.
Despite its success as a lighter alternative to the grimdark feel of some of the other Arrowverse series, The Flash has never quite known what to do with its women. For the initial seasons of...

Exclusive: Allegra Garcia will be an even bigger help to Team Flash in the upcoming season of The Flash. Kayla Compton, who heavily recurred as the character this season, has been promoted to series regular for season 7 of the CW series.
An up-and-coming journalist, Allegra (Compton) fell in with a bad crowd and was incarcerated at a young age. But since her release, she’s refused to let her rocky start in life define her future. Now she helps Barry Allen as a new member of Team Flash, thanks to her metahuman ability to manipulate the electromagnetic spectrum. That is, when she’s not helping Iris chase down headlines for Ccc Media. Compton has appeared in eight episodes in season 6.
The Flash will be Compton’s first series regular role. She appeared in the FullScreen Studios miniseries Making Moves for director John Swetnam, and will next be seen in the...

In addition to (quite literally) pulling Iris the intrepid reporter into a wild, new storyline, The Flash‘s Season 6 winter premiere also teased a mystery involving Nash Wells and his apparent connection to a familiar face.
Midway through the episode, after the Black Hole assassin took her first shots at Iris and the rest of the Citizen staff, Nash (played by Tom Cavanagh) rushed into S.T.A.R. Labs and immediately asked… Allegra Garcia?… if she was Ok. Hmm, that was random for sure (as Allegra’s own, puzzled reaction affirmed). But maybe she was simply the first person he saw…...

Barry and Iris may just barely be holding up Ok as the Crisis nears, but what about The Flash‘s poor viewers?
Because, man, the second of these pre-“Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover episodes was an emotional doozy, for those in Central City and us at home. Coming off the Monitor’s stern warning, Barry did the logical thing and aimed to time-travel to Dec. 11 of this year, to see if the Crisis was all it’s cracked up to be. But as Barry raced through the speed tunnel and neared that date, Wham! He crashed into an impenetrable wall made of skin-lacerating anti-matter.
