Guitarist for Gillan from 1981-1982 and Iron Maiden 1990-Present
Was in a band called White Spirit before joining Gillan. They were part
of the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) and released one,
eponymous album in 1980.
Joined Iron Maiden in 1990 after Adrian Smith left. Stayed in the band
even after Adrian returned. With Dave Murray, Janick Gers, and Adrian
Smith, Iron Maiden became one of the first heavy metal bands ever to
feature 3 lead/rhythm guitarists.
First guitar he ever bought was a Fender. He bought it fairly cheap
when he was 18 years old.
Even though he plays right-handed guitar, he is actually left-handed.
He has two children with his wife Sandra - Sian and Dylan.
Iron Maiden are currently planning out and scheduling
tour dates for their "Early Years" tour. The tour will take place in
the summer of 2005. (October 2004)
Janick Gers was born in Hartlepool on January 27, 1957. His father had been in the Polish Navy, but settled in England after meeting his mother.
