Based on the experiences of his father, Patrice Désilets would like to tell the story of the disastrous 2010 Haiti earthquake...
Patrice Désilets, who created Assassin's Creed with Jade Raymond and Corey May at Ubisoft, has been talking about his upcoming projects in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz. Perhaps most surprisingly, he wants to tell the story of the catastrophic 2010 Haiti earthquake in video game form.
Désilets founded his own company, Panache Digital Games, back in 2014. Through Panache, Désilets is due to launch a third-person survival title called Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey later this year. This interview reveals that his future plans don't stop there.
"Panache has another IP called 1666 Amsterdam, which we will eventually make," Désilets said. Ancestors and 1666 Amsterdam only represent the tip of Panache's creative iceberg, though. "I have my own personal portfolio of ideas and they're not all set in the past."

(Aotn)- You may be very familiar with Paula Garces’ roles in such properties as “Law and Order: Svu,” “Devious Maids” and the “Harold and Kumar” series of films. But, you’ve likely not heard about her passion for comics and gaming, or of her heroic property that’s taking NY Comic Con by storm this weekend, “The World of Aluna.”
Now, that’s a shame, because “The World of Aluna” is a fresh take on the Super Heroine. One that spins the “touched-by-gods” trope and places it squarely in the Pre-Columbian New World. A butt-kicking, super powered, bridge between two worlds who was just in time in the 1500s.
Garces’ co-creation is also a timely figure for the 21st Century as well, a role model not limited by history. No, Aluna is also a genre bending, cross cultural superwoman, poised to make some noise with the big comic book boys and girls.

As Jenelle embarks on a new life, Leah Messer receives devastating news about daughter Alianna and Kailyn Lowry has it out with ex-boyfriend Jo Rivera!
The Feb. 4 episode of Teen Mom 2 brought about some major changes in the lives of the MTV stars, beginning with Jenelle Evans, who made the bold decision to leave her mother’s house and move in with boyfriend Nathan Griffith.
Naturally, Jenelle’s decision to move in with Nathan — which is a huge step and shouldn’t be done lightly, by the way — was met with a bit of suspicion by Jenelle’s mother Barbara. After another one of their trademark fights, but by no means the biggest so far, Jenelle confirmed she’d made up her mind and was moving.
Now, here’s the rub: Because the show was filmed quite some time ago, and the girls’ every move is documented by the media,...

Sneak Peek new screenshots and footage from "Batman: Arkham Origins", the upcoming multi-player video game in development at Games Montréal, for release through Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, October 25, 2013.
Based on DC Comics' 'Batman', the game is a successor to the 2011 video game "Batman: Arkham City" and the third installment in the "Batman: Arkham" series.
Written by Corey May and Dooma Wendschuh, the game's main storyline is set five years before 2009's "Batman: Arkham Asylum", following a younger and 'less refined' Batman who has a bounty placed on his head by crime lord 'Black Mask', drawing eight of the world's deadliest criminals to 'Gotham City' on Christmas Eve.
The game is presented from the third-person perspective with a primary focus on Batman's combat and stealth abilities, detective skills and gadgets that can be used in both combat and exploration.

Here's your first look at the highly anticipated video game Batman: Arkham Origins! It features an incredible looking cinematic sequence of Batman fighting Deathstroke. These Batman games have been so awesome, and I'm really excited to get my hands on this one. I have no doubt it's going to be just as awesome as the first two games.
Developed by WB Games Montréal, Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two critically acclaimed games of the franchise. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds,...

Which Movies Were Game Changers?
Hollywood has been mining literature for source material for years, often with excellent results — 11 literary adaptations were nominated for Academy Awards in 2012 alone — and comic books have inspired several of the most popular and successful movies in recent years. Video games, on the other hand, have proven to be difficult to successfully translate to film. Gamers are often more interested in a game's graphics or the ability to earn achievements than in its plot, so there is often little for the screenwriters to draw upon. As Corey May, co-founder of Sekretagent Productions explained to CNN, "It often comes down to money, as movie studios frequently choose to make films based on the franchises that sell the best, not those with the most cinematic potential."
Still, the success of the Resident Evil franchise — $893 million worldwide and counting — and the prospect of enticing the hundreds of millions...

Having a fresh new approach with the popular series by taking place during the American Revolution, Assassin’s Creed III is set up to be one of the biggest releases of the year. Having Colonial America is a cool backdrop for an action-packed game like Aciii, but it can also teach you a thing or two. Who knew video games can be fun and educational And bloody.
During a recent chat with lead writer of Aciii, Corey May shared that most of the dialogue and writing was inspired by first-hand documents. Almost all of the historical events that occur in the game have been untouched and as close to the original records as can be. Any holes or gaps that couldn’t be filled with letters and newspaper clippings were patched with history books. May also shared that he was especially proud of the inclusion of a rare speech made...

We all know the story about the handsome prince breaking the spell and waking Sleeping Beauty with a kiss, but what if the Beauty was so smitten that she doesn’t let the prince get away? That’s the idea 21 Jump Street producer Neal Moritz has.
Fairy tales with a twist are popular Hollywood fodder these days, although Mirror, Mirror might be a clue that fairy tale comedies aren’t exactly the way to go. Regardless of that little box office hiccup though, Moritz is undertaking the development of a Sleeping Beauty retelling that transforms the popular Disney heroine into a stalker that won’t take no for an answer.
Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller are handling scripting duties. Corey May and Dooma Wenschuh will be co-producing with Moritz.
Even though Tarsem Singh might’ve gotten spanked with his comedy/fairy tale mash-up, I think Moritz might have the right touch.

Assassin's Creed and Arkham City make the Writer's Guild of America's list of nominees for the best writing in games for 2011.
The WGA is in its fourth year of adding video games to its nominees for writing in media. And while this list might not have reflected my own choices for some of the best writing in games for the year (I'm disappointed in the omission of both Bastion and Portal 2, for instance and as much as I dug Arkham City, I don't think it was anywhere near a contender for best writing this year), the recognition for the industry is cool (if still limited).
Here's the full list of nominees and congrats to everyone who's on it:
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Story by Alexandre Amancio, Jean Guesdon, Corey May, Darby McDevitt; Multiplayer Story by Stéphane Blais, Richard Farrese, Jeffrey Yohalem; Lead Script Writer Darby McDevitt; Script Writers Richard Farrese,...

With only a few months left on The Office, we can expect to see Steve Carell in more and more films over the next year-and-a-half or so. THR tells us that one of the first post-Office projects he’ll be taking on is actually a drama, titled Dogs of Babel.
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name of Carolyn Parkhurst, the movie was set to go before cameras all the way back in 2003 with Todd Phillips directing, and John Crowley was also attached at one point; right now, no director is in place, although studio Mandate is looking for one right now. Shouldn’t be a problem, as getting a director for a potentially high-profile movie like this shouldn’t be difficult. It’ll be produced by Carell, David Heyman of Heyday Films and Corey May and Dooma Wendschuh of Sekretagent Productions.

As soon as we thought we could predict the outcome of the Oscars, here comes another surprise! This one's brought to you by the Writers Guild of America. Picked for Best Original Screenplay was Christopher Nolan's "Inception." The director, famously dissed for not getting a Best Director Oscar nomination, may just win the Best Original Screenplay come Oscar night. Oscar front-runner, "The King's Speech" was not nominated because it didn't quality under union rules which prompted Nolan to say during his WGA acceptance award that he looked forward to a time when he could accept the award "without qualification."

For adapted screenplay, I'm happy to report that Aaron Sorkin's fantastic script won! Based on "The Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich, "The Social Network" was the only film last year that I predicted to win this very category.

I have always cherished Lucas more than any John Hughes film dealing with the high school caste system. For me it falls just below Heathers in that regard, which is fitting since both featured Winona Ryder. But like in the choir scene from Lucas, nobody's looking at Ryder today. We're all looking at the film's star, Corey Haim.
Anyone who had interests outside the norm of high school students, anyone who ever wanted to fit in at least at some point as a teenager, anyone who ever had a crush on an older, inaccessible schoolmate had to have appreciated Lucas. As has been pointed out a few places today, it was a more genuine precursor to Rushmore, which comparatively lacks charm.
If Lucas wasn't your bag, though, you at least had to have thoughts of Haim in License to Drive when it was your time to be introduced to the frightening world of the Dmv.

Coming soon is the Writer’s Guild of America award for excellency in “Videogame Writing” and you know, actual movies. The nominees are:
Assassin’s Creed 2 – Story by Corey May, Script Writers Corey May, Joshua Rubin, Jeffrey Yohalem Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – Written by Jesse Stern, Additional Writing Steve Fukuda, Story by Todd Alderman, Steve Fukuda, Mackey McCandlish, Zied Rieke, Jesse Stern, Jason West, Battlechatter Dialogue, Sean Slayback Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Written by Amy Hennig Wet – Written by Duppy Demetrius X-Men Origins: Wolverine – Script Writer Marc Guggenheim
Everyone who’s seen this list have the same thing to say about it more or less, and that is, what exactly is Wet, X-Men, and Modern Warfare doing on that list when there were other games like Dragon Age: Origins that certainly had great stories and dialog. Now I’m not going to defend MW2’s cookie-cutter military story, but...

It came as no surprise when I learned that Gary Whitta, who wrote the screenplay -- and I use the term generously -- for the Hughes brothers' postapocalyptic dud The Book of Eli, has a background in videogames. An Englishman, born in 1972, Whitta was one of the founders of PC Gamer magazine and also served as its editor-in-chief. In addition to writing scripts for shows like Star Trek: Voyager, he has been a consultant on numerous game franchises and, according to his Wikipedia entry, is best known as a writer on games like Duke Nukem Forever, Prey, and Gears of War.

With its pseudo historical storyline, vicious combat, free world parkour roaming, and just massive cool factor, 2007’s Assassin’s Creed was a massive hit, selling over eight million copies and launching a new entertainment franchise. While the game was very repetitive (how many viewpoints can there be in one city) and ended with a massive cliffhanger, the anticipation for the sequel is massive. To prepare for its November 17th release, publisher Ubisoft has taken a cue from what publishers have done before: prepare some juicy web series content. Earlier in the summer we wrote about how the feature film Terminator: Salvation used its video game engine to produce a machinima prequel series to the events of the film. Perhaps Ubisoft took notice of February's Escape from City 17 live action Half Life 2 short, because the opposite has occurred, the web series for the launch of Assassin’s Creed 2 titled Assassin’s...
