Not to be confused with the Clint Eastwood Enforcer (1976) or the Humphrey Bogart Enforcer (1951), this cheap and cheerful crime thriller stars Antonio Banderas as a strong-arm man who turns against his employers. As such, it’s entirely watchable and made with a degree of style, but it’s also predictably generic and occasionally laughable in its simplicity.
The Enforcer opens with one of those prologue sequences that immediately gives away the ending, as Banderas’ Cuda (short for Barracuda) reflects on what brought him to his current blood-soaked state. The rest of the story is then told in flashback, with Cuda taking new enforcer Stray under his wing, while working for slinky Miami mob boss Estelle.

Screen Media announced today the acquisition of all U.S. rights to the feature film The Outpost, based on The New York Times best-selling non-fiction book, The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor from CNN’s Jake Tapper.
In this military thriller, a tiny unit of U.S. soldiers, alone at the remote Combat Outpost Keating, located deep in the valley of three mountains in Afghanistan, battles to defend against an overwhelming force of Taliban fighters in a coordinated attack. The Battle of Kamdesh, as it was known, was the bloodiest American engagement of the Afghan War in 2009 and Bravo Troop 3-61 Cav became one of the most decorated units of the 19-year conflict.
The film was set to have its world premiere at the South by Southwest Festival before the event was cancelled. Screen Media will release the film around the July 4th weekend.

Screen Media has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to “The Outpost,” a war film starring Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones and Orlando Bloom that is based on Jake Tapper’s nonfiction book, the distributor announced Monday.
Rod Lurie directed the movie that was meant to make its debut as part of the SXSW Film Festival. Screen Media will now release “The Outpost” around the July 4th weekend.
Tapper’s book “The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor” details one of the worst of the war in Afghanistan that took place in 2009 at Combat Outpost Keating, just 14 miles from the Pakistani border. There, 53 American soldiers as part of Bravo Troop 3-61 Cav squared off against over 400 Taliban fighters in what was known as The Battle of Kamdesh. Eight U.S. soldiers died, and about two dozen more were wounded, according to The Washington Post.

'Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2' has cast 'Zootopia' voice actor and former Gladiator Mark "Rhino" Smith as the voice of God.
Sources close to the production confirmed that the London-born actor will feature in the upcoming Disney animation, and Smith recently tweeted a photo of himself "back working at #disney."
The actor is perhaps best known in the U.K. for his role as Rhino in the '90s sports entertainment show "Gladiators."
But fans of Disney animation will recognize his booming baritone from 'Zootopia,' in which he played Officer McHorn (a rhino).
'Wreck-It Ralph 2' is being made by the same creative team behind 'Zootopia.'
Smith, who now lives in Los Angeles, will next be seen on screen in Idris Elba's directorial debut, 'Yardie.' Coincidentally, Elba played Police Chief Bogo in 'Zootopia.'
'Wreck-It Ralph' grossed more than $470 million in 2012 and received an Oscar nomination. The sequel sees the return of video-game characters Ralph (John C. Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) who discover a wi-fi router in their arcade, leading them into a new adventure.
It is set for a Thanksgiving-week release on Nov. 21, 2018.

"This is a story about the path I chose..." Studiocanal UK has released a new full-length official trailer for the film Yardie, the feature directorial debut of actor Idris Elba. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and went on to play at the Berlin Film Festival as well. The first teaser trailer dropped earlier this year, but this full trailer gives us a better look. Elba's Yardie, based on the novel by Victor Headley, is about a young Jamaican boy who moves to London in the 80s and gets involved in gang war in Hackney. Aml Ameen stars as D, and the full cast includes Everaldo Creary, Stephen Graham, Mark Rhino Smith, Akin Gazi, Fraser James, Deepak Anand, Naomi Ackie, and Shantol Jackson. The film looks better than it is, unfortunately, since the reviews from the festivals haven't been great. I'm glad Idris Elba is getting into directing to tell stories like this,...

"It's time to let go... Choose the right path, son." Get your first look at the directorial debut of English actor Idris Elba, titled Yardie. "His brain is still working. They're learning." Saban Films has released the official red band trailer for a new zombie movie called Day of the Dead: Bloodline. This is basically a remake of the classic original George A. Romero zombie movie Day of the Dead, released in 1985, though it's being called a "reimagining." The plot is about a group of military personnel and survivalists living in an underground bunker trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. The main character is a young woman named Zoe Parker, played by Sophie Skelton, who is "tormented by a dark figure from her past" - surprise, that figure is now a zombie. The cast includes Johnathon Schaech, Jeff Gum, Marcus Vanco, Mark Rhino Smith, Lillian Blankenship, and Shari Watson. This doesn't look that good at all, but if you need more zombies in your life, have at it. Here's the trailer (+ poster) for Hèctor Hernández Vicens...

On Monday, June 25th, a funeral service was held for Robert L. Washington III in the Bronx borough of New York City, with a second service to come in Detroit, Michigan. The service was attended by various comic book creators, classmates, and friends from Robert’s various creative, work, and hobby circles.
