New Delhi, Dec 23 (Ians) Wednesday was a day to forget for the Delhi and District Cricket Association (Ddca) as it copped twin embarrassment. A day after former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi wrote to Delhi's parent cricket body to remove his name associated with the Arun Jaitley Stadium and scrap his membership, he -- and his former Delhi teammate Kirti Azad -- on Wednesday scored a moral victory over an age cap rule that denied Azad the opportunity to become a Delhi selector.
The Ddca seemed to beat a hasty retreat when the issue of the 60-year cap for picking senior selectors for the 2020-21 domestic season was adjudicated by its Ombudsman Justice (retired) Badar Durrez Ahmed, who ruled that the present Ashu Dani-led committee would be allowed to select the Delhi team only for the T20 Syed Mushtaq Trophy that begins on January 10.

New Delhi, Dec 16 (Ians) The wheel has turned a full circle for former India player and national selector Kirti Azad. He campaigned for cleansing of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (Ddca) of corruption when Arun Jaitley headed it for 14 years. Last month, when Jaitley's son became president, Azad sent him a good luck message, and now he has applied for a selector's post.
Azad, 61, says he didn't speak to Rohan Jaitley, 31, before applying for the selector's post. "No (I didn't speak to him), but I sent him a message once he became Ddca president. I wished him all the best. He is young and I have heard he has new ideas, and wanted to start academies etc. So, I suppose when somebody is young, keen to do something, why not help such people," Azad told Ians.

New Delhi, Dec 4 (Ians) For former India pacer Atul Wassan, December comes with bitter-sweet memories vis-a-vis Delhi and District Cricket Association (Ddca). Exactly a year after he was removed as chairman of the senior selection committee, he was appointed chairman of the Ddca's Cricket Advisory Committee (Cac) on Friday. Letting the past behind him, he now wants to "layout a roadmap" for Delhi cricket for at least one-and-a-half years, and end a "selection cartel" that appeases clubs.
The Cac, interestingly, comprises three former India pacers, Robin Singh (junior) and Parvinder Awana being the others. Ddca president Rohan Jaitley has appointed the committee.
Wassan, 52, said he would present his roadmap to Jaitley when he meets him soon and would try and ensure that appeasement in selection is done away with. Besides, he would like to revitalise the system with a long-term view.
