Eva Green’s casting in Casino Royale came with a lot of drama of its own. The film was an important part of the franchise, with actor Daniel Craig successfully proving himself to be a great Bond, while the team was able to jump-start an ailing franchise. However, behind the scenes, tensions were palpable when it came to the casting of Vesper Lynd.

Eva Green’s agent was pestered on a weekly basis, for it was important for the producers that Eva Green essay the role of Vesper Lynd. Despite the role being practically her’s for the taking, a screen test with Daniel Craig made things difficult for her.

In a 1996 episode of "This American Life," host Ira Glass was introduced to the vast, near-incomprehensible world of "Dark Shadows" for the first time. "Dark Shadows," for those who don't know, is a Gothic, vampire-forward soap opera that ran on ABC from 1966 to 1971, lasting six seasons and, no lie, 1,225 episodes. Because it was a daily program, the showrunners had to work at a breakneck pace, often committing grievous technical errors along the way. Those errors, however, were the central appeal for the world's many "Dark Shadows" fans. Glass likened it to tuning into car races just to see crashes. There is verisimilitude to such a concentration of human error.
Then, Glass is told by a "Dark Shadows" fan, that words like "groovy" began working their way into the show's dialogue sometime in the 1969 season. "Dark Shadows" is deeply beloved, partly for its complex, vampiric storylines, but just as much for its cheap camp.

The James Bond franchise, which started with Sean Connery in 1962 with Dr. No, has come a long way. We have had 6 iterations of the character till now, with Daniel Craig being the latest actor to don the mantle of Agent 007. Considered one of the better iterations of the character, Craig gained a lot of praise for playing the MI6 agent. But after 15 years and 5 films, he decided it was time to say goodbye to the franchise.
Daniel Craig in No Time To Die
2021’s No Time To Die saw the last of Daniel Craig as Agent 007, and in what is considered a drastic move away from the norm, the latest movie in the franchise saw Bond dying at the end, which has never happened before. Since then, fans of the franchise have been waiting with bated breath, speculating who will take on the role next.

"Where is she? I know you abducted her." Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted their full official trailer for The Three Musketeers - Part II: Milady, arriving in theaters in the US in April (here's the teaser). This is the sequel to the new French version of The Three Musketeers story by Alexandre Dumas. Part II already opened in France last year, though it has taken a long time for it to show up in the US. Milady is the second film of the two-part epic saga, wrapping up their story. D'Artagnan is forced to join forces with Milady to save Constance, who was kidnapped before his eyes. But as war is declared and Athos, Porthos and Aramis have already joined the front, a secret from the past shatters old alliances. Think in terms of movies, not eras, Mr. Bond!
If the rumors are correct, James Bond franchise overlord Barbara Broccoli is closing in on a new actor to don 007’s tux. This, however, is an endless vodka martini swirl of rumors — with the main actor in question, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, just as tied to the role a year ago as he is now. Why the delay? It’s been two and a half years since Daniel Craig’s final Bond film, “No Time to Die,” bowed in cinemas.
Part of it seems to be a franchise tradition that, with each new actor in the role, there’s a bit of a rethink of the character: To tailor the role to the actor’s strengths and better fit the sensibilities of the moment. An awareness of the history of the franchise, of what era it’s currently inhabiting, has been part of...

It's been several days now since this year's Oscars ceremony, and yet I'm still scratching my head as to why the Academy had Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt present a montage honoring stunts and stunt performers without mentioning why they had selected these two specific actors to do so. Then there's the bitter irony of the Academy celebrating stunt performers while stubbornly refusing to give them an Oscar of their own, but that's a whole other rabbit hole.
While it's true the pair starred in dual halves of Barbenheimer last year, they've also got a new film coming out in "The Fall Guy." Loosely adapted from Glen A. Larson's '80s action-adventure TV series of the same name, the movie casts Gosling as a stuntman who's rapidly aging out of his occupation from years of risking permanent bodily harm, only to find himself unraveling a mystery on the set...

Tim Burton's upcoming movie with Warner Bros. is a chance for the director to redeem a past Depp flop. Burton's diverse filmography includes both hits and flops, with some of his best movies being financial disappointments. Beetlejuice 2 is a promising return to Warner Bros. for Burton, aiming to avoid the budget issues of Dark Shadows.
While Tim Burton's upcoming 2024 movie is exciting for many reasons, the movie’s studio alone gives the director a chance to redeem an expensive Johnny Depp flop. Tim Burton has directed many hit movies over the years, and this makes it easy for viewers to forget that he has also weathered his fair share of flops. In the same decade that Burton enjoyed box office success like Edward Scissorhands and Batman Returns, he helmed the biopic Ed Wood, which earned under $6 million on a budget of $18 million (via The Numbers). No Time to Die honored the original "Bond Girl" of the Craig Era, Vesper Lynd. Vesper may have betrayed Bond, but she was an essential character. Bond's love for Vesper represents a huge change for the iconic spy.
In Daniel Craig's final outing as James Bond, No Time To Die, 007 has moved to Jamaica in the hope of a quiet life after being relieved from active service. Of course, his tranquility is short-lived because his old CIA friend, Felix Leiter, coaxes Bond back into action for another treacherous mission. Rescuing a kidnapped scientist becomes far more dangerous than he could have ever imagined.
The film did a massive service to Daniel Craig's last outing as James Bond by mentioning a character from his first film. In No Time To Die's first act, Bond is in Matera, Italy, with his new love interest: Madeleine Swann. During that time, he...

2023 was a good year for Australian actor Jacob Elordi, who played Elvis Presley in “Priscilla” and a posh Oxford student with a sinister new friend in “Saltburn.” The latter performance even earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor. But that’s not his only chance at BAFTA victory. He’s also up for the Rising Star Award, which goes to the year’s most outstanding breakthrough performer as voted on by the public. He’s the front-runner in our odds to win that award, but he has to overcome one major disadvantage: he isn’t British.
The Rising Star Award has been handed out since 2005, and out of the 18 actors and actresses who have won the award, only three weren’t British (16.67%): French actress Eva Green (2006) and Americans Shia Labeouf (2007) and Kristen Stewart (2009). The last 13 winners in a row have been Brits. None have ever been Australian.

“Oppenheimer” star Cillian Murphy was once in a two-way battle with “Killers of the Flower Moon” actor Leonardo DiCaprio for the top spot in our Oscars odds chart for Best Actor this year. DiCaprio was snubbed, however, while “The Holdovers” leading man Paul Giamatti has snuck up the leaderboard. We now have another two-race horse between Murphy and Giamatti.
The Irish actor has so far only triumphed at the Golden Globes, however, where he won Best Drama Actor for Universal’s historical epic. Giamatti won Best Comedy Actor at the same ceremony and then made a huge stride towards the Oscar podium by edging out Murphy to win Best Actor at the Critics Choice Awards. Both men are nominated at SAG, where we think Giamatti will triumph, while they are also going head to head at the BAFTAs. This is where we think Murphy can claw back some power in this race.

“Casino Royale,” the 2006 film that marked a pivotal moment in cinematic history, stands as a cornerstone in the evolution of the James Bond franchise and spy-thriller genre. This movie, based on Ian Fleming’s first novel featuring the iconic British spy, not only redefined the character of James Bond but also had a profound impact on cinema, particularly in its portrayal of casino gaming and high-stakes action. The influence of “Casino Royale” is evident in the world of online gambling platforms like TedBet Casino, where the excitement and allure of casino gaming are brought to life. In this article, we will explore the significance of “Casino Royale” in the broader context of film history and examine how it influenced the depiction of casino gaming in movies. The film’s blend of intense action, intricate storytelling, and the sophisticated world of casino gambling created a template that would be emulated by future films in the genre.

The BAFTA Ee Rising Star Award, now in its 19th year, has put together a pretty stacked list of actors for the 2024 ceremony.
The Rising Star Award often gets overlooked at the BAFTAs, but over the years the prize unique to the British Academy every awards season has done a pretty good job at predicting some of the industry’s biggest names on their way to the top.
Take a look through the eventual winners of the award, determined by public vote since 2005, and you might recognise a few names. James McAvoy, Eva Green, Kristen Stewart, John Boyega and Daniel Kaluuya have all lifted the funny mask gong thing over the years, while the nominees lists are littered with everyone from Cillian Murphy to Emily Blunt – and they’re both in the same year.
Even amongst such stiff competition, though, the list of actors and films nominated this year looks particularly special.

Angelina Jolie Once Allegedly Refused To Play Bond Girl In Daniel Craig’s Casino Royale Because She Wanted To Be James Bond(Photo Credit –Facebook/IMDb)
Angelina Jolie is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and James Bond is one of the most iconic film franchises. So imagine Jolie in a Bond film! It would literally blow our minds, and the opportunity had once presented itself to the actress, but she declined the offer to be a Bond girl because she didn’t want to settle for the side character and be the main lead in Casino Royale.
Daniel Craig was seen as 007 in Casino Royale, and his version of the character is undoubtedly one of the best portrayals. The Bond movies exude style and sass and have a genre of their own. Meanwhile, Jolie established herself as a versatile actress, and the sky is the limit for her.

The director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven adds depth to Eva Green's character, turning her from a love interest into a tragic figure. The addition of a subplot involving Sibylla's son explains her decisions and adds emotional weight to her story. This change in the director's cut greatly impacts the film and makes it a far superior version with more impact.
The director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven, Ridley Scott's 2005 epic tale of the Crusades, gives Eva Green's character depth and nuance, turning her from a pure love interest into a fully fleshed-out character. Rotten Tomatoes and the Academy Awards don’t often go hand in hand. In fact, the Rt scores of Best Picture nominees/winners are a mixed bag. “Parasite” won Best Picture with a Rt score of 99% while “Green Book” emerged victorious with a score of just 77%. The site dishes out percentage scores to movie’s based on the film’s collection of critical reviews. The higher the score, the better the movie. Supposedly.
But, that’s not how it always work in tandem with the Oscars. For instance, “Black Panther,” “BlacKkKlansman,” and “Roma” all scored 96% but lost Best Picture to “Green Book.” Perhaps, if the Oscars listened to Rotten Tomatoes more, things would go a little more smoothly? Probably not but, just for fun, let’s pretend that Rotten Tomatoes are in charge of this year’s Academy Awards.

In the process he uncovers a sinister plot to overthrow King Louis Xiii (Louis Garrel) and discovers that Constance’s life is in danger because she witnessed the secret identity of the mastermind behind the scheme.

The first part of The Three Musketeers was released earlier this year, though US audiences are getting it at roughly the same time we're getting this second outing. They're in for a treat though, as Part Two 'Milady' is a continuation of a well constructed and entertaining adaptation.
The eponymous Milady is played by Eva Green, roped into a web of intrigue so complicated that it takes about five screens of text and several scenes from the first movie to establish why she's not around any more. Though, this being an adventure story, even death isn't always permanent. Key words are highlighted but there's no substitute for having seen the earlier part, not least because of how enjoyable it is. Near the beginning of the first film young D'Artagnan (Francois Civil) emerges from a shallow grave like a revenant of myth, but as the flames of conspiracy climb higher he'll.

Our heroes are out to foil a complex plot involving smirking hitwoman Milady de Winter, tearing through gonzo fight scenes and excellent stunts at a teeth-rattling pace
At a teeth-rattling gallop, this second Three Musketeers film follows immediately on from the first – being the two halves of the Alexandre Dumas original from screenwriters Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière, directed by Martin Bourboulon. This second film effectively stars Eva Green as Milady de Winter, the slinky, sexy, smirking and sulphurous hitwoman working for Cardinal Richelieu. In the first film, Milady made a pretty fatal-looking clifftop jump, like Moriarty going over the Reichenbach Falls, but now she is back, and more ambiguous and seductive than ever.
Milady is involved in a fantastically complex plot to bring France into a war with perfidious Albion, in so doing exploiting a treacherous insurgency by the Huguenots; it’s all in the cause of...

Eva Green is no stranger to playing complex women. Throughout her career, the French actress has inhabited everyone from queens of ancient history to the woman that Daniel Craig's James Bond arguably never got over. Now, she's taking on one of the most iconic female characters in literature as the diabolical spy Milady de Winter in Martin Bourboulon's two-part epic The Three Musketeers, based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas. It's a project the likes of which has been years in the making, and not just for Bourboulon as a director, but also for the many actors who are lending their skills to this big-budget adaptation. If you can believe it, over 60 years have passed since France made their last Three Musketeers retelling, and that means that this version was highly anticipated in more than one sense.

Funded by four countries, starring Eva Green and featuring modern sexual tweaks, the trio’s new €72m Milady yarn was meant to rival Hollywood productions. But is it another doomed Europudding?
Suitably honouring the spirit of Alexandre Dumas, the second half of the new two-part Three Musketeers film adaptation arrives with not one but two cliffhangers to resolve. First, there’s the fate of D’Artagnan’s lady-love, kidnapped by Milady’s goons after the attempted assassination of Louis Xiii. And second, there’s the question of whether this would-be Euro blockbuster is actually going to make its money back.
Co-produced by France, Germany, Spain and Belgium on a €72m budget across both instalments – putting it in the top 10 most expensive French productions ever – the films looked well provisioned to compete with Hollywood: big names such as Eva Green and Vincent Cassel, copious buckling of swashes and modernising tweaks such as...

All for one and … two for all?
In a bold move, French film studio Pathé bet nearly $80 million on an all-star, double-barreled adaptation of “The Three Musketeers,” gambling that interest would be high enough that director Martin Bourboulon could split Alexandre Dumas’ swashbuckling epic over two films, spaced half a year apart, and audiences would show up for both halves. The gamble paid off, as the first part — “The Three Musketeers – Part One: D’Artagnan,” released last April — was a huge hit, and appetites remain strong for the sequel, which opens in France on Dec. 13.
In the States, however, where “Kill Bill,” “The Avengers” and “Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning” have paved the way for two-part blockbusters, that strategy seems less certain. A series of disappointing screen versions has tarnished the legend. It would be easy to eventize a double bill, marketed to fanboys and action-movie enthusiasts, in which all four...

The 21st film in the James Bond franchise by Eon Productions, Casino Royale was released in 2006 to critical acclaim. The movie, which continued the story of a legendary spy, James Bond, garnered praise for Daniel Craig's interpretation of the beloved character —his first, no less — and for moving away from the stereotypes of previous Bond films. This adaptation of Casino Royale is the third version produced based on Ian Fleming's book of the same name within his Bond series.
Throughout Casino Royale, Bond is attempting to bankrupt Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), a man who finances terrorist organizations, by attending his high-stakes poker game at a casino in Montenegro. Believing Le Chiffre was behind the Skyfleet attack, Bond must win the game to bring down the criminal organization.

Ridley Scott regrets cutting a crucial subplot from his 2005 historical epic, which would have added emotional resonance. The theatrical version of the film was heavily edited at the request of the studio, resulting in a faster pace but less depth. Scott may have a longer cut of his latest film, Napoleon, waiting in the wings, allowing for a truer representation of his vision.
Ridley Scott discusses the one editing mistake he made with his 2005 historical epic after bad reviews. Scott’s epic take on Napoleon, starring Joaquin Phoenix as the notorious French emperor, is currently in theaters everywhere. But that film is not Scott’s only foray into the realm of historical drama, as in 2005 the director went even further back in time for an epic movie about the Crusades.

The consensus thus far on Ridley Scott's "Napoleon," including from /Film's own Chris Evangelista, is that it feels like the shadow of a greater film — namely, the four-hour cut that Scott has confirmed will premiere on Apple TV+ at a later time. This wouldn't be the first time that such a fate befell one of Sir Scott's historical epics. Let's go back to 2005 when his opus "Kingdom of Heaven" met a muted response.

Historical epics are a tough sell at the box office due to their dark, gory, and long nature, making family-friendly adventure movies more successful. Even with successful directors and star-studded casts, historical epics like Kingdom of Heaven, Master and Commander, and The Last Duel have failed commercially. The challenging subject material, niche appeal, and lack of interest in the genre contribute to the low box office returns of historical epics like The Northman, Silence, and Marie Antoinette.
Historical epics have been extremely successful for Hollywood in the past, but there are many great entries to the genre that are considered box office flops. Whether you generally enjoy immersing yourself in bone-chilling experiences or usually steer clear of the horror genre, this time of the year just calls for something eerie. Your favorite spooky holiday is here, and chances are, you’re looking for a horror marathon to celebrate the day to the fullest. Now, binge-watching horror films or even a series of cult classics might not always cut it. There’s something about diving neck-deep into what’s terrorizing a bunch of characters in a show that really makes you a part of their bizarre world. You’ve got nothing to lose. And even if you come to care about the characters in a show and empathize with their plight, horror shows have a way of pinning you down to your couch and pulling you into a frightful narrative. There’s no easy way to point out why we obsess over this genre as much as we do.

The role of the imperious White Witch in the Netflix Chronicles of Narnia reboot is still up for grabs, and finding a commanding and charismatic actress is crucial. Margot Robbie, Lashana Lynch, Gwendoline Christie, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Diana Lee Inosanto, Eva Green, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Angela Bassett are all potential candidates. There have been many attempts to adapt Alexandre Dumas’ beloved swash-buckling story to the big screen. From Disney’s The Three Musketeers to Paul W.S. Anderson’s The Three Musketeers to the D’Artagnan solo story, The Musketeer, Alexandre Dumas’ tale has been told again and again. However, Samuel-Goldwyn Films and Pathé are attempting to tell the story with a faithful adaptation that will take two movies to convey. The new trailer for the French historical epic, The Three Musketeers: Part I – D’Artagnan, has now been unveiled.
The official synopsis from Samuel-Goldwyn Films and Pathé reads,
“In the first entry, D’Artagnan, a spirited young Gascon, is left for dead after trying to save a young woman from being kidnapped. When he arrives in Paris, he tries to find his attackers. He is unaware that his quest will lead him to the heart of a real war where the future of France is at stake.

Tim Burton tends to rely on a roster of trusted actors in his projects, making it possible for long-time collaborators to join Wednesday season 2's cast. The Addams Family-inspired series Wednesday has received widespread acclaim, and the inclusion of Addams Family alumni Christina Ricci suggests that more familiar faces could make cameo appearances in season 2. Stars like Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, and Eva Green, who have previously worked with Tim Burton, could bring their unique acting styles and versatility to the show, adding depth and intrigue to the characters.
When Tim Burton wants to bring his signature surreal universes to life, he tends to refer to a trusted roster of actors, many of whom could be in Wednesday season 2's cast. Ever the visionary, Burton relies on the same crew of "strange and unusual" heroes who tend to do the best job at bringing his tortured souls and unsung heroes to life.

2006's "Casino Royale" is the best Bond movie for many reasons. It successfully reinvented 007 for the modern age, delivering not only a great action film but a surprisingly affecting love story, with Eva Green's Vesper Lynd providing a worthy match for Daniel Craig's rugged Bond. But "Royale" is also noteworthy for sticking remarkably close to the source material, i.e. Ian Fleming's 1953 novel of the same name.
The first Bond book in the series, "Royale" was actually the 21st Bond movie, and saw longtime 007 producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson return to the source. Of course, not everything from the novel made it into the film, but for the most part, "Royale" was about as faithful to a Fleming book as a Bond movie had ever been, right down to the antagonist, Le Chiffre, played by Mads Mikkelsen.
