What Do We Know About Dune Prophecy? More than you may think. With the second part of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction novel a critical and box office success, it is going to be several years before we see the next feature film in the series, Dune Messiah. Luckily, production on the small-screen prequel /spin-off was concurrent with Dune: Part Two which means before the end of the year we are going to return to the fictional realms of Arrakis, Geidi Prime, and more via Max.
While not much in the way of footage has made its way online, there have been quite a few reveals about Dune Prophecy, so let’s jump in and discuss.

Dennis Villeneuve’s take on Frank Herbert’s beloved sci-fi saga Dune is something truly special. The two movies released so far have been acclaimed by both fans and critics, who loved the world that the Canadian filmmaker has managed to create. And while the film series is moving forward with Dune: Messiah, currently in the works, we know that a prequel series – Dune: Prophecy – is also in the works and that it is going to premiere later this year. A trailer has recently been released, which we reported about, which also confirmed the series’ Fall 2024 release window. Aside from the trailer, a series of stills from the series have been released, revealing some important moments and some of the characters.

As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content shared the first trailer for Dune: Prophecy during today's Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation.
Despite being very much in line with what we've seen from Dune in theaters (albeit with perhaps a few more splashes of colour), the pressure is on this series to live up to Denis Villeneuve's critically acclaimed movies. This teaser doesn't reveal much, but so far, so good based on what we're seeing.

The “Dune” universe is expanding to TV, and going way, way back in time to do it.
During Warner Bros.’ Upfront presentation on Wednesday, HBO and Max boss Casey Bloys introduced the first teaser for “Dune: Prophecy,” a prequel series spinoff of the hit sci-fi film franchise. The six-episode season will premiere on Max this fall.
“Dune: Prophecy” is inspired by the novel “Sisterhood of Dune” by Brian Herbert (son of original “Dune” series author Frank Herbert) and Kevin J. Anderson. Set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides (Timotheé Chalamet), the series tells the story of the founding of the Bene Gesserit, the secretive, all-female (until Paul Atreides) order of superhuman power brokers who advise leaders and influence world events.
It follows sisters Valya (Oscar and Emmy nominee Emily Watson) and Tula Harkonnen (Olivia Williams) as they fight forces that threaten humanity’s future and create what becomes the Bene Gesserit.

"Sisterhood above all..." Warner Bros has revealed the first look teaser trailer for the epic new sci-fi series Dune: Prophecy, a spin-off TV series streaming on Max later in 2024 (aiming for a fall release). It's set 10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides, before the universe knew them as the Bene Gesserit... This is directly connected to Denis Villeneuve's two (so far) brilliant Dune movies but it's not a direct prequel since it's set so far in the past. It's also based on the book "Sisterhood of Dune" by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert (Frank's son). The intro to that book is much more fascinating: "It is eighty-three years after the last of the thinking machines were destroyed in the Battle of Corrin, after Faykan Butler took the name of Corrino and established himself as the first Emperor of a new Imperium. Great changes are brewing that will...

We've seen David Lynch's psychedelic take on the first "Dune" novel in his 1984 film, we witnessed the precipitous rise of Paul Atreides through director Denis Villeneuve's two epic and complex blockbusters, but we've never seen anything quite like this. Amid all the wars and politicking and worm-riding, the mysterious sect of women pulling the strings behind the curtain known as the Bene Gesserit have hardly received the spotlight that they probably deserve. Until "Part Two" introduced us to Léa Seydoux's Lady Margot Fenring, Rebecca Ferguson's Lady Jessica and Charlotte Rampling's Reverend Mother were the only two members of this religious order that viewers ever actually met.
That finally changes in a big way with the upcoming spin-off series slated to debut on Max, initially known as "Dune: The Sisterhood" but since rebranded as "Dune: Prophecy." (Max sadly turned down my own personal pitches for the title: "Space...
