The author of 18 books, Sherman is best known for titles like The Finest Hours — Disney’s action thriller at sea, starring Chris Pine, Casey Affleck and Ben Foster — and Boston Strong, which was adapted into the film Patriots Day, starring Mark Wahlberg, by CBS Films.
A USA Today and Los Angeles Times bestseller, his latest book, A Murder in Hollywood, chronicles the deadly love affair between screen legend Lana Turner and her gangster boyfriend, Johnny Stompanato. As we were first to report, that title is now in development as a feature with a pair of Oscar nominees, screenwriter Terence Winter (Wolf of Wall Street) and producer Rachel Winter (Dallas Buyers Club).

Robin Hood was a disappointment critically and commercially, but it still has elements worth appreciating.

Released in 2010, Robin Hood marks the fifth collaboration between Crowe and director Ridley Scott since the release of 2000's Gladiator. Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two has been regarded as the filmmaker’s masterpiece and has been reigning at the box office since its release earlier in March. With $577 million at the global box office, the film has become the highest-grossing film of the year. Based on Frank Herbert’s novel series, the film starred Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya in lead roles.
While most critics and fans have been applauding Villeneuve’s vision for the sci-fi epic, there have been criticisms of the movie regarding its depiction of people hailing from Mena backgrounds. Critics noted the absence of significant members of Middle Eastern and North African descent in speaking roles, despite the films being inspired heavily by the cultures of the region and people.

X-Men '97 brings back the iconic animated series and with it some legendary X-Men villains. Apocalypse failed to deliver in the Fox film because of a poor script and poor direction. X-Men '97 can adapt the Age of Apocalypse and redeem the X-Men villain.
X-Men '97 finally dropped its two-episode debut after much anticipation as fans have been champing at the bit for a chance to revisit the wildly popular world of X-Men: The Animated Series. While nostalgia is to blame for a lot of that, X-Men '97 has proven with its first two episodes that it's going to offer far more than nostalgia alone. Not only are the performances and characterizations perfectly on-point, but the storytelling is exceptional so far as well.

Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk had one of the most stagnant character arcs in the MCU, despite the hero being a crucial part of the Avengers team. While behind-the-scenes issues played a major part in the MCU’s failure to explore this character, even solving those issues may no longer help Hulk’s story. The universe has already introduced another superhero dealing with multiple personality disorder — Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight — which undermines the Hulk’s defining characteristic from the comics.

Spoilers are ahead for Dune: Part Two.
Dune 3 faces a major challenge due to missing the Guild, which is crucial to the universe's political and economic structures. The Guild Navigators' absence in Dune 2 raises concerns about how Villeneuve will effectively introduce the group in Dune 3. Paul Atreides' control over spice in the sequel novel allows him to control the Guild, highlighting its significance in the universe.

Dune is one of the standout films of this decade. The film is an immaculate adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name, and Denis Villeneuve proved his genius once more with this production.
The technical aspects of the film are very intriguing, contributing just as much to the finished product. Ultimately, the results are glorious, from the more obvious features, such as acting and direction, to the more mechanical facets, such as sound production and editing.
Dune and its sequel are as much a visual treat as they are an auditory delight. Moreover, a legendary Jamaican dub reggae artist inspired the team to create some of the most chilling scenes ever seen on a screen.

Many of us were excited about the prospect of The New Mutants a few years ago. The sales pitch of an “X-Men horror movie” sounded like a match made in heaven. As often happens, the film that was released was far more of a pillow fight than the cage match I’d hoped for.
But as we excitedly embrace the kid in us with the release of X-Men ’97 on Disney+, I couldn’t help but imagine a more adult side of that universe. What if the X-Men franchise embraced the opportunity to lean into the horror genre? I’m talking about the body horror of its mutants, the cruelness of its villains, and the potential for superhumanly violent finishers that would make Mortal Kombat blush. With all that in mind, I took a look through the original X-Men films on a horror scavenger hunt and found some pretty cool trinkets along the way.

It’s not always easy to find out which movies are hitting theaters each week, especially after the Hollywood strikes led to many release date changes. With the WGA and actors strikes resolved and summer blockbusters starting to roll in, March is filled with both big budget flicks and new indie releases.
Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry and Dan Stevens star in the monster-mash action movie “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” which sees the two legendary creatures go toe to toe as humans explore Skull Island and learn more about their mysterious origins. Also hitting theaters is “La Chimera,” a indie romance comedy about a group of archeologists operating on the black market staring Josh O’Connor, Carol Duarte, Vincenzo Nemolato and Isabella Rossellini. A few re-releases to look out for this week include the sci-fi thriller “Ex Machina” staring Alicia Vikander, Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac which will screen exclusively in IMAX,...

In 2012, George Lucas, sold Lucasfilm Ltd. to Disney, handing them the keys to the Star Wars franchise. While George Lucas wasn't invloved in the Sequel Trilogy, he did share some opnions on the Star Wars projects Disney developed. In some instances, George Lucas' sentiments lined up with fans reactions, and in other cases, proved completely different from the fanbase's thoughts.
When George Lucas sold Lucasfilm Ltd. to Disney in 2012, he walked away from any chance of telling more stories set in a galaxy far, far away. Although he had story treatments and ideas of his own, the Star Wars sequel trilogy was ultimately made without his involvement. Surely, then, Lucas had his own thoughts about the three films.

Marvel Studios may be developing Moon Knight season 2 after the "Complete First Season's" physical release. Moon Knight season 2's perfect villain may have been set up during a flashback sequence in the first season. Introducing Shadow Knight in Moon Knight season 2 would debut the perfect dark opposite of Marc Spector, creating a grounded story.
The perfect villain for Marvel Studios' potential Moon Knight season 2 in the MCU may have already been set up in the series' first season. Moon Knight premiered on Disney+ in March 2022, and introduced audiences to Oscar Isaac's Marc Spector, a mercenary with dissociative identity disorder, who also happens to be the host of the Egyptian God of the Moon, Khonshu. Khonshu grants Spector impressive abilities as the vigilante Moon Knight, and these helped Spector take on Ethan Hawke's Arthur Harrow during Phase 4's Moon Knight, but the series left the future of Marc Spector and his alters uncertain.

Leo Woodall first came to prominence when he featured in season two of HBO’s “The White Lotus.” In that series, he played the, uh, “nephew” of Tom Hollander‘s character and made quite a splash in the role. Now, Woodall has gone from supporting player to leading man with Netflix’s new miniseries, “One Day.”
Adapted from David Nicholl‘s 2009 book of the same name (and the second adaptation overall after the much-maligned 2011 Anne Hathaway movie), “One Day” follows Woodall and “This is Going to Hurt” star Ambika Mod as two students (Dexter and Emma) who meet on graduation night. That chance meeting sparks an entwined relationship that encompasses friendship and lovers across a 20-year period as they continually meet on various July 15ths.
The result is a swooning, epic romance that hinges on the charisma of its two leads. Thankfully, both Woodall and Mod are up to the task.

Shameik Moore took to Twitter to express displeasure over the Oscar loss, mirroring Morales' apology video in the movie. Moore's initial tweet saying "robbed" sparked backlash, leading to a public apology for his behavior. The humorous baby powder joke in Across the Spider-Verse likely references a real-life scandal involving Johnson & Johnson.
The competition at the 96th Academy Awards was tough. Most categories saw equal contention for every single nominated film. However, the award for Best Animated Feature was a title fight between the two biggest animated movies of 2023. In the red corner stood Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the third highest-grossing film of the year. And, in the blue corner stood The Boy and the Heron, the triumphant return of legendary director Hayao Miyazaki.
It was closely fought, but The Boy and the Heron won the award. Losing is always horrible, but it is almost always handled with grace and respect at the Oscars.

Star Wars actor Daisy Ridley has given fans a clue to the plot of the new Rey-centric film, saying that her character likely doesn’t have children as she’s committed to the Jedi Order.
Speaking with Deadline at South by Southwest film festival (SXSW), Ridley was asked if Rey will have any kids in the new movie, which is tentatively titled Star Wars: New Jedi Order. Ridley replied by saying: “I would say she probably doesn’t have children seeing she’s a Jedi.” In the prequel trilogy, the Jedi were forbidden from marrying or having children, although Anakin Skywalker broke this rule with Padme Amidala. It seems like Rey might be following the rule that the Jedi Order had imposed on its members for thousands of years.

In 2011, it might have seemed like Jessica Chastain emerged out of nowhere as a formidable actress, when she appeared in no less than five movies — including Best Picture nominees “The Help” and “The Tree of Life” — and scored her first-ever Oscar nomination. But Chastain worked for years to get to that point, acting in plays from a young age and attending the prestigious Juilliard School. “I struggled for so long to try to create a career,” she told the New York Times in 2017.
In the decade since her breakout year, Chastain has received acclaim for a variety of different roles — from her Oscar-nominated lead part in “Zero Dark Thirty” to her lauded supporting work in “A Most Violent Year” to even a superhero franchise with “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.” She’s worked alongside top filmmakers like Terrence Malick, Kathryn Bigelow, J.C. The McU's casting has remained consistently brilliant since Avengers: Endgame, with standouts like Simu Liu and Iman Vellani. The interconnected world-building of the franchise has remained incredibly solid since 2019, connecting characters and realms across phases. The McU's recent projects, while facing criticisms, have consistently produced intriguing origin stories, explored mature themes, utilized fan-service well, and used iconic musical cues to perfection.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has received its fair share of criticisms since Avengers: Endgame, though it remains the case that the franchise is still doing a lot right going into 2024. The Marvel movies releasing in 2024 consist solely of Deadpool & Wolverine, at least where Marvel Studios is concerned. Many are hoping that this movie will be a return to form for the franchise, all while laying the groundwork for the remaining MCU projects on Marvel's list of upcoming movies to continue the Multiverse Saga satisfyingly.

The Oscars 2024 premiered recently and it was an awesome sight to see. This time, however, it wasn’t just an award-distribution ceremony as actors literally used the platform to spread their message and beliefs about the world.
With the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, several actors showed up at the Oscars wearing a red lapel pin. As per Rami Yousef, the pin signified their support for calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and the safe return of captives in the war-torn city!

Why Actors Wore A Red Lapel Pin To The Oscars
It was back in October when several artists collectively signed a letter asking President Joe Biden to ceasefire immediately in Gaza and release all the captives held in the city. Calls for peace and humanity were all around and were even further fueled by the involvement of several artists.

Warning: Spoilers for Dune 2.Based on the classic 1965 novel by Frank Herbert, the universe of Dune has an expansive and rich history as well as a slew of thoughtfully developed characters. Within its realm, the cosmos is controlled by an entity known as the Galactic Padishah Empire. The Emperor sits as its ruling leader, whose arrangement with the great houses maintains a reasonable sense of order throughout the universe. One of those houses, the Atreides, lies at the center of the Dune films, and its surviving descendants ultimately spark the fuse that inevitably leads to the prophesied Holy War between all the great houses.
House Atreides originally ruled over Caladan, a beautiful planet covered in lush forests and vast oceans, and was one of the most respected houses that ruled benevolently over their fiefdom. Threatened by their popularity, Emperor Shaddam IV (Christopher Walken) reassigns them to Arrakis to oversee its spice production,...

Beau DeMayo, the showrunner and executive producer behind Disney+’s upcoming animated series “X-Men ’97,” has been fired ahead of the March 20 premiere, Variety has confirmed.
DeMayo had completed work on Seasons 1 and 2 of “X-Men ’97” ahead of his exit. He will not attend the March 13 Hollywood premiere for the show. His Instagram account, on which he had been previewing artwork and answering fan questions about “X-Men ’97,” has also been deleted.
He wrote and produced “X-Men ’97,” which is a continuation of the popular “X-Men: The Animated Series” that aired on Fox Kids in the ’90s. It is unclear why DeMayo was fired from “X-Men ’97” so close to the premiere, but he will no longer promote the show or be involved with future seasons.
“He did excellent work writing Seasons 1 and 2, and I can’t wait for fans to see the series,” executive producer Brad Winderbaum told Variety.

The Avenue has landed North American rights to the action comedy “Old Guy,” starring Christoph Waltz, Lucy Liu and Cooper Hoffman.
Simon West directed the film, while “The Last Son” scribe Greg Johnson penned the script.
The film follows aging contract killer Danny Dolinski (Waltz), who still believes he’s the best at what he does. Stuck at a dead end but vying for the love of club manager Anata (Liu), Danny is thrilled when The Company pulls him back in the field — but it’s only to train Gen Z newcomer Wihlborg (Hoffman), a prodigy assassin with an attitude. The mismatched pair is asked to eliminate top members of a competing crime syndicate and, in the process, uncover their employer’s true motive: removing the old guard in a full takeover. Shameik Moore admitted to being a "sore loser" on social media after Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse lost at the 96th Academy Awards. The actor initially posted that the film was "robbed" on X, formerly Twitter, which led to Moore being called out by some social media users. Despite the upset, Moore later acknowledged the winners and emphasized that Across the Spider-Verse has impacted many lives beyond the awards ceremony.
Too bad Shameik Moore doesn’t have a real-life Spider-Sense, because it probably would have started tingling before he posted to social media last night. The original 2021 Dune is the No. 1 movie on streaming during the week of February 29, ranking above major Oscar nominees. The only title ahead of it in the overall Top 10 is Hulu's Shgun. The success of Dune on streaming platforms proves the enduring appeal of the sci-fi epic.
The 2021 Dune movie is topping streaming charts. The project was the second feature to be adapted from the 1965 Frank Herbert sci-fi novel of the same name, starring Timothée Chalamet as iconic literary protagonist Paul Atreides opposite a star-studded ensemble that also included Oscar Isaac, Dave Bautista, and Zendaya. Its sequel, Dune: Part Two, premiered in theaters at the beginning of March and became a smash hit, outgrossing the original movie's entire domestic run in just one week.
Reelgood is reporting that, while Part Two continues its theatrical run, the original Dune is topping the charts on streaming. It is the No.

Ridley responded, saying: “I would say, from what I understand, yes. Short answer." Ridley also noted her excitement for the new film, saying, “I am [excited]. It’s very strange. I’ve gone off and done all sorts of films, and I feel like I’ve learned a lot and grown a lot as an actor. I think [the New Jedi Order movie] will be like baby steps again. Dune: Part Two is currently ruling the cinemas and is expected to win big at the next award season. Everyone from Timothée Chalamet to Josh Brolin to Rebecca Fergusson did extremely well in their roles and the audience just can’t seem to get over them. Undoubtedly, Dune: Part Two has not only lived up to its predecessor’s hype but has even surpassed it. However, the one thing we missed in the sequel was Oscar Isaac’s Duke Leto Atreides.
Oscar Isaac in Dune (2021)
Oscar Isaac played the role of the father of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides in Dune. Unfortunately, the film saw him meeting his demise and thus, the actor was not a part of Dune: Part Two. Having Oscar Isaac on the set of the first film must have been a hoot, though, as the actor knows how to have fun. Remember when he brutally roasted Josh Brolin during an interview?...

Dune showcases a diverse cast with a wide range of ages, accurately reflecting characters from Frank Herbert's novels. Paul Atreides' youth sets him apart in a world of older politicians and warriors, establishing him as a powerful figure. The age of characters in Dune, like Lady Jessica in her mid/late 30s and Baron Harkonnen in his 70s, adds depth to the story.
Considering what the young hero is able to achieve, it is interesting to consider how old Paul is in Dune and the ages of the other characters are in comparison. David Vileneuve's 2021 adaptation of Frank Herbert’s eponymous sci-fi epic novel follows Paul Atreides’ (Timothee Chalamet) family to the desert planet of Arrakis, where the young man finds himself surrounded by both politics and prophecy. Despite his relative young age in a world ruled by older politicians and warriors, Paul establishes himself as a powerful figure.

Houses and factions in Dune are crucial; Atreides is related to rival Harkonnen clan. Bene Gesserit agents wield superhuman abilities subtly to shape humanity's future. Understanding Paul Atreides' familial relationships in Dune adds depth to the story.
As proven by Dune: Part Two's twists and turns, the Atreides family tree is rather complicated. Thanks in part to the Bene Gesserit breeding program, House Atreides is even related to their rival clan, House Harkonnen. Understanding all of Dune's houses and factions is crucial: nothing in Frank Herbert's classic sci-fi epic is coincidental. Looking at how other key characters relate to the film's protagonist, Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), can make matters more digestible, especially since Paul is a product of the Bene Gesserit breeding program — even if his birth was a bit surprising to the order.

Sofia Boutella, the lead actor in Zack Snyder’s 2023 space action adventure Rebel Moon, who played Kora, was frustrated with the dismal critical reviews the movie has faced. Netflix has marketed the movie well, and it was one of the most anticipated movies of the year but lacked the charm to be a critical darling.

Boutella, after appearing in part one of the two-part movie series (as confirmed so far), reacted against the critical rampage. While the movie was hyped with the director’s post-Snyzer Verse glimmer of hope, it has remained just an ambitious project from the celebrated director, while several critics dubbed the first part as a menacing space adventure.

It’s unfortunate, but most streaming shows (and movies for that matter) never get a physical release, but thankfully, Disney has been releasing some of their most popular Marvel and Star Wars shows on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray. Following in the footsteps of Loki season 1, WandaVision, and the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, Disney announced today that they will be releasing collector’s editions of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Moon Knight, Andor, and Obi-Wan Kenobi on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray. Hurray for physical media!

Last year, Disney+ started sending some of its original programming to physical media with limited edition SteelBook releases for the first two seasons of "The Mandalorian," as well as the Marvel Studios shows "WandaVision" and "Loki." This year, the House of Mouse will continue sending "Star Wars" and Marvel shows to 4K and Blu-ray with a whole new roster of SteelBook releases.
The Walt Disney Company has announced that the first season of "Andor" and the limited series run of "Obi-Wan Kenobi" are among the second wave of releases coming to physical media from Disney+. Interestingly enough, "Obi-Wan Kenobi" is referred to as the "complete series," which would seem to put a damper on any hopes that we might get a second season of the series with Ewan McGregor.

The physical release of Moon Knight's first season hints at the possibility of a season 2 return. Disney labeling it as "The Complete First Season" suggests potential for a continuation. Comparing it to Obi-Wan Kenobi's physical release, Moon Knight's labeling raises speculation about a second season.
Since the first season of Moon Knight ended, there has been speculation about whether the MCU series would get a season 2, and now it seems as though Marvel might be considering it. Though there has been no official confirmation of Moon Knight's return, some recent information about the first season's re-release would indicate that a season 2 of the show is more likely, potentially tying in to Disney CEO Bob Iger's statements about slowing the rate of new MCU releases down.
