For all the ways "Star Wars" and "Star Trek" differ, they're surprisingly similar when it comes to the birds and the bees. Many of the heroes in both franchises prioritize their causes over the pursuit of sexual pleasure, be it peacekeeping and scientific exploration as a Starfleet officer or diplomacy and fighting against the forces of fascism as a member of either the Rebel Alliance or the Republic (if not both in some cases). By the same token, members of the Old Jedi Order were forbidden from developing emotional attachments, although the man behind "Star Wars" itself, George Lucas, has said that Jedi Knights weren't required to be "celibate."
It's a good thing, too; Luke Skywalker definitely got around in the non-canon "Star Wars" Expanded Universe (aka Legends), and Mark Hamill has confirmed that so far as he's concerned, the son of Skywalker absolutely put his ... lightsaber to work.

Her next show is Kaos, the synopsis reads as follows:
Zeus (Jeff Goldblum) has long enjoyed his status as King of The Gods. Until he wakes up and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Neurosis sets in, setting him off on a dangerous, paranoid path. Netflix has dropped a teaser trailer for the comedy fantasy 8-episode series ‘Kaos’, a modern-day contemporary retelling of Greek mythology.
Zeus (Jeff Goldblum) has long enjoyed his status as King of The Gods. That is until he wakes up one morning and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Neurosis sets in, setting him off on a dangerous, paranoid path. Zeus becomes convinced his fall is coming – and starts to see signs of it everywhere.
Zeus’ once reliable brother, Hades, God of the Underworld, is secretly losing his grip on his dark dominion. There is a backlog of dead waiting to be processed and they are growing restless. Hera (Janet McTeer), Queen of the Gods, exercises dominion on Earth — and over Zeus — in her unique way. But her power and freedom become threatened by Zeus’ growing paranoia, and she is forced to act while Zeus’ rebellious son, Dionysus, (Nabhaan Rizwan), is...

Charlie Covell might be known for the successful adaptation of the comic series The End of the F***ing World, but the British writer is currently working on a new show for Netflix, which is going to be released later this year. Kaos is an original work by Covell that is going to be a fantastic, mythology-inspired black comedy that will follow the adventures of Ancient Greek gods in a modern setting. Ahead of this year’s premiere – a release window has not been specified, as of the time of writing – Netflix has released the first trailer for the series as well.
Kaos is going to have eight episodes, as has been confirmed by the streaming service, and will see legendary actor Jeff Goldblum as the ruler of the Greek pantheon, Zeus; Goldblum replaced Hugh Grant, who was initially attached to the role. You can check out what Goldblum looks like...

You know Zeus. Greek god of thunder, curly hair, luscious big beard, turns into a swan? You’ve seen his face on statues in parks and on tile mosaics behind the counter in kebab shops.
That’s not the Zeus in Netflix’s new fantasy drama Kaos, from Charlie Covell, screenwriter of The End of the F***ing World. As played by Jeff Goldblum, the Zeus of Kaos looks more Tony Soprano than beardy all-father. And home-of-the-gods Mount Olympus? Think a lavishly appointed mansion such as you might see on Selling Sunset instead of a bucolic paradise crawling with nymphs and fauns.
Covell’s vision of Greek myth clearly comes with a modern twist, hence Zeus’ Casio watch and leisure suit collection in the first teaser trailer below:
As Goldblum explained at a recent Netflix slate preview event: “One may say it’s about the Gods, but a different version of the Gods.

In a couple of months, it will be a year since we lost the late, great Lance Reddick. His passing was a shock as it came so suddenly, and at a time where he had incredible works on the horizon. We haven’t even seen the last of his work as he’s due to make a cameo appearance as his John Wick character, Charon, in the spin-off Ballerina. He can recently be seen in the Disney+ show, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, where he fittingly portrays the Greek God, Zeus. Reddick would finish filming the first season just before his untimely passing.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians would finally premiere on Disney+, and the season finale featured an epic conflict with Zeus on the top of Mount Olympus. Deadline reports that the show would pay tribute to the late actor by closing out with a title card that read,...

The series premiere of Percy Jackson and the Olympians left some fans confused after Disney+ decided to drop the first two episodes of the series the night before they were originally scheduled to premiere. Some eagle-eyed fans found hints that the show would be arriving early on Dec. 19 instead of Dec. 20, but there was no formal confirmation that this would be the release schedule until episodes 1 and 2 appeared on Disney+.
While the early arrival of Percy Jackson episodes was a welcome surprise for many, it also left some fans confused and scrambling to change their plans so they wouldn’t miss out.

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” utilizes an interesting mix of ancient and modern for its story of demigods in the contemporary world trying to undo the petty grudges and unintended consequences of the Greek Gods’ wrath (as they always are). Production designer Dan Hennah and costume designer Tish Monaghan blend archetypical hoplite gear with goofy orange camp T-shirts; the show gives the mythological entities that Percy (Walter Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Jeffries), and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) encounter free reign to assert their personalities through clothing, style, and, in the case of Mr. D (Jason Mantzoukas), a mild addiction to Diet Coke.

The first two episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which are now streaming on Disney+, reveal a faithful yet inspired adaptation of The Lightning Thief, the debut entry in Rick Riordan’s beloved fantasy book series.
In Episode 1, we’re quickly introduced to Percy (played by Walker Scobell), the seemingly troubled 12-year-old who’s anything but normal. Following closely to the book, the middle schooler was attacked by his pre-algebra teacher Mrs. Dodds (played by guest star Megan Mullally) during a field trip to the museum. They say never to meet your childhood heroes. Even the fictional ones don’t always hold up — problematic creators, disappointing endings, stories that don’t stand the test of time — and the inevitable adaptations of those juggernaut stories risk falling flat and failing to capture the magic of the original.
But fans of Rick Riordan’s “Percy Jackson” novels — both new and old, as there is sure to be an uptick — can rejoice in the knowledge that “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” now streaming on Disney+, is more than worthy of its source material and the massive mythology behind it. Riordan himself co-created and executive produces the series along with Jon Steinberg, the pair of them extensively involved in production and writing. For adults who discovered Percy back in 2005 or new generations joining the quest with time to spare (a seventh novel is slated for 2024 publication), this hero is one worth meeting.

The Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings films ushered in a wave of fantasy novel adaptations in the early 2000s. These included movies like the Chronicles of Narnia films and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The star of the two Percy Jackson films, The Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters, Logan Lerman, has been vocal about his support of the new Disney+ series, which adapts the novels into multiple episodes for the streamer. A storm is brewing, and this one could usher in the end of times.
Disney+ has released a new trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and there's a good chance it will be the streaming service's best series this year.
With the Marvel Cinematic Universe imploding on both the big screen and on streaming, and the tepid response to The Mandalorian Season 3, Disney+ is betting on Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
In the past, Disney+ hasn't put its marketing muscle behind projects outside the MCU and Star Wars universe.
If the series manages to break through, it will probably urge the streaming service to take more significant risks.
Adapting Rick Riordan's bestselling book series for the small screen already looks to be paying off.
While the two big-screen adaptations were criticized, everything we see for Percy Jackson and the Olympians looks like a natural next step for the franchise.

It’s no secret that Rick Riordan, who wrote the Percy Jackson book series and executive-produces the upcoming Disney+ live-action series, took major issue with the 2010 film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and its sequel Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
In his notes to movie producers in 2009, he called the Lightning Thief script “terrible” as a whole and maligned the age-inappropriate swearing as a “lazy attempt to make the script seem hip to teens.” Responding to a fan in 2020 who said he hated the films more than they did, Riordan shared that it was “my life’s...

Fans got their first looks at several Percy Jackson and the Olympians characters at New York Comic Con on October 15 — with Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hermes being one of them.
The television show will hit Disney+ on December 20. It is a highly anticipated project, particularly due to the fact that Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan is a co-writer on the show and has been closely involved in its development.
The Disney+ adaptation of The Lightning Thief has a massive ensemble cast. Beyond the three leads in Walker Scobell (Percy), Leah Jeffries (Annabeth), and Aryan Simhadri (Grover), adult characters like the gods of Olympus are being portrayed by some big names such as the aforementioned Miranda (Hermes), Lance Reddick (Zeus), and Jason Mantzoukas (Dionysus).

Now might be the perfect time to re-read Rick Riordan’s “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” books before the adaptation arrives on Disney+ at the end of the year. For this show, only the main foundation series (and maybe just the first book) are required reading before Camp Halfblood comes to life on the small screen.
The first two episodes of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” arrive December 20 on the streamer, followed one new episode per week. Christmas will be to “Percy Jackson” fans as Thanksgiving will be to “Hunger Games” fans, with “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” film adaptation arriving in theaters November 17. In 2010, 20th Century Fox brought to life the first film in the Percy Jackson series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief starring Logan Lerman. Fox would bring over the director of the early Harry Potter films, Chris Columbus, to helm the start of this new franchise. The Lightning Thief would go on to become a hit as it grossed $226.4 million worldwide with a production budget of $95 million. The sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, also became a modest hit and a third film, The Titan’s Curse, was set to be the next installment, but it never manifested.
Now, Disney brings you the teaser trailer for the new Disney+ series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The news is revealed today, for it is Percy Jackson’s birthday. The show is to be an epic adaptation of the series of novels by author Rick Riordan. The novels are a best-selling book series from Disney Hyperion.

Camp Half-Blood will be reopening at the end of 2023.
Disney+ on Friday announced a premiere date for its Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, based on the beloved (and mega-selling) quintet of novels by Rick Riordan. The series will debut with two episodes on Dec. 20, with subsequent installments rolling out weekly. Disney+ also released a new teaser for the show, which is below.
The timing of the announcement is not random: Aug. 18 is Percy Jackson’s birthday.
Walker Scobell plays the title character, a 12-year-old who learns he’s a demigod — the daughter of a Greek god and a mortal woman. Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri also star as Percy’s friends Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood.
Unlike the two films based on the books, Riordan was closely involved with the making of the series, writing the first two episodes with fellow executive producer Jon Steinberg (Black Sails, The Old Man...

This post contains spoilers for the second episode of "Yellowjackets" season 2.
Well, it finally happened. After a full season spent alluding to potential acts of cannibalism that took place during the Yellowjackets' time in the wilderness, the second season of the hit Showtime series dove right in with a dark feast featuring long-dead Jackie (Ella Purnell) as the main course.
After Shauna's (Sophie Nélisse) ear snack last week, "Yellowjackets" finally broached the topic of cannibalism at the end of the new season's second episode, in a scene that makes the desperate measure seem at once disgusting, divine, and eerily understandable. It's a nearly wordless scene that begins when a strong smell wakes up the girls inside the cabin. They attempted to cremate Jackie's body, and the smell of her charred flesh hits their nostrils like the aroma of a backyard barbecue. "She wants us to," hungry, pregnant Shauna says...
