Sam Raimi found great success with the ‘Spider-Man’ film trilogy, each installment grossing over $800 million worldwide. However, plans for further sequels were halted due to script issues. Disappointed with ‘Spider-Man 3,’ Raimi aimed to redeem the franchise with ‘Spider-Man 4,’ which unfortunately never came to fruition. In 2022, he expressed regret about not ending the series on a high note.
Despite this, Raimi’s involvement with Spider-Man continued as he and Marc Webb served as creative consultants for Marvel Studios’ ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ directed by Jon Watts. Recently, rumors have circulated about Raimi directing ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ the highly anticipated installment in the ‘Avengers’ franchise.
Recently, Raimi stated his desire to direct the final Phase 6 movie, but unfortunately, the studio hasn’t approached him yet.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 cannot seem to shake off the chaos surrounding its production. Sony and Marvel would love to bring back the web-slinger for a fourth film, as it was Spider-Man: No Way Home that gave their respective last billion-dollar film. However, the film hasn’t locked a director yet, with Jon Watts stepping away from the duties. One of the latest rumors suggested that Sam Raimi, the director of the original Spider-Man film series, will be helming the film.

In the time leading up to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was known that Marvel Studios would be exploring the possibilities of the multiverse. After the casting news of actors like Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina returning to reprise their roles as former Spider-Man villains, many fans went into further speculation about who else may show up. While the studio had done a pretty bang-up job of keeping the secret of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield sealed, there was a certain leaked picture of Garfield on the set, which led to a debate of its validity as it threw fuel onto the speculation fires.
However, the rumor mill would be overrun with theories about what characters may make an appearance in the 2021 film. One obvious candidate for a rumored return was Dane DeHaan, who portrayed Harry Osborne in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In that film, Osborne would...

“Euphoria” star Austin Abrams believes his days of playing high school kids are behind him.
In an interview with IndieWire at the 2024 Sarasota Film Festival about his new fraternity hazing drama “The Line” from director Ethan Berger, Abrams, now 27, said that while he might still get some parts like that in “The Line” that place him in college, it’d be a stretch to see him playing a high schooler again.
“I can’t really do it anymore,” he told IndieWire of playing such a younger character. “Yeah, definitely. It’s just like at this point, I’m not really a service to the project anymore. I mean, I just can’t do that. College, kind of. I don’t really feel like that. But yeah.”

Despite missing some important personnel, Marvel Studios and Sony are reportedly looking to get a new Spider-Man film before the cameras this year.
Sony and Marvel have either done a great job of tying up plenty of key details for their collaboration on Spider-Man 4… well, either that or the studios have simply pencilled in a date and will try to figure out their collective to-do list in a mad flurry of activity as the summer commences.
According to reports that originated with reporter Daniel Richtman, both Marvel and Sony are working towards a September start date for the follow-up to the 2021’s monstrously successful Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Here are two of the missing details that have been floating around in the news sphere for a while now, although we should preface this list by stating that it is entirely possible that these issues have now been sorted. We’d hope so,...

Is it too soon to wax nostalgic about "Spider-Man: No Way Home"? The movie that closed out Tom Holland's Spidey trilogy debuted in theaters less than two-and-a-half years ago, but it already feels like a relic of a bygone era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Sony-distributed film continued a pre-existing story we cared about, balanced delightful, fan-friendly cameos and heartbreaking, unpredictable moments, and utilized the star power of three different Spider-Man actors — plus, of course, superstar Zendaya.
Zendaya's Mj was always a high point of the most recent Peter Parker saga, and she got several moments to shine in "Spider-Man: No Way Home." She was also at the center of some of the movie's funniest bits, like when she pelts Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker with hunks of bread to test his Spidey sense. This offbeat character introduction apparently wasn't scripted, as Garfield told Happy Sad Confused...

Zendaya has ruled both small and big screens for the past few years. Her portrayal of Rue in HBO Max’s Euphoria not only made the show a fan favorite but also made her the youngest woman to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress.
The actress, 27, has secured several notable roles in movies, such as Chani in Dune and Anne Wheeler in The Greatest Showman. However, before taking on any of those roles, she established herself in the superhero genre by playing Michelle Jones, also known as ‘Mj’, in the MCU’s Spider-Man films. In fact, her first major motion picture role was in 2017 with Spider-Man: Homecoming, and she went on to star in its follow-ups.

However, when the actress showed up for her audition, producer Amy Pascal claimed that neither she nor Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had any idea who Zendaya was.

When it comes to preparing for roles and giving auditions, every actor wants to be at their very best and Zendaya is no exception to that. Starting off as a child actress, she has seen growth not only in her own talent but also in the quality of movies and TV shows she has transitioned into.
From Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover to Dune and Euphoria, there has been not a single moment of doubt when it comes to such a talented actress.

When getting some of the best roles, there is a strong chance that her previously established fame played a role stronger than many would realize. However, the same was not the case for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Her audition story for Tom Holland’s trilogy was perhaps the most mundane she has ever been seen.

There has been a lot of mystery surrounding Avengers 6. Marvel has released little to no information about what can be expected from the film. Not only does its release date keep moving around, but fans also have no idea about its story, not even knowing who the villain will be. With this much ambiguity around a project, speculation and rumors are inevitable, and fans begin to form quite a lot of theories.

Over the last decade or so, Marvel has had a knack for snagging independent filmmakers with a lot of buzz, critical acclaim, and innovative creative voices to join their stable. Before James Gunn was at the helm of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogy, he was the guy who got his start writing "Tromeo and Juliet" for Lloyd Kaufman. And he's not alone. Scott Derrickson, Jon Watts, Taika Waititi, Cate Shoreland, Destin Daniel Cretton, Chloé Zhao, Nia DaCosta, and so many others were still stars on the rise when Marvel came calling.
Fan reactions are typically divided with one camp worried this marks the end of their independent visions in favor of corporate-driven storytelling, while others are thrilled to see directors they love getting one hell of a paycheck. Theoretically, this should give them the creative freedom to make whatever film they want next, like the director's version of what...

That Apple Original movie starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, and that’s directed by Greg Berlanti, well, it landed a title: Fly Me to the Moon. The action franchise that made Keanu Reeves the highest-paid actor for a project is reportedly developing a fifth film. The Matrix franchise released three films in the late ’90s and early 2000s helmed by directors Lily and Lana Wachowski. A fourth film, The Matrix: Resurrections, was released in 2021, with only Lana Wachowski having directorial duties. As the franchise returns for a fifth planned film, neither of the Wachowski’s are returning to direct the film.
Keanu Reeves’ The Matrix franchise will continue with a fifth film being planned at WB
Fans are not sure about the fifth film, especially after the studio decided to appoint a new director. Drew Goddard, who created Daredevil for Netflix, will take over from the Wachowski’s. However, fans highly doubt that the lack of Wachowskis’ creative minds would help a fifth film.

Matt Shakman’s The Fantastic Four is reported to have hired Ozark star Julia Garner in the film. The film already has an ensemble cast in the form of Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon-Moss Bachrach. It will be the first depiction of the characters in the MCU and is rumored to be set in an alternate reality. The characters have had two iterations before.
Julia Garner has been cast as the Silver Surfer in the upcoming film, which seemingly has not gone down well with fans. Though it is speculated that she would be playing the role of Shalla-Bal, a female version of the supervillain in another reality, fans seem to be extremely upset with the gender-swapped role and criticized Marvel for the move.

There’s been talk about scaling back on releases because fans are getting tired of lower-quality shows and movies. However, Spider-Man remains a big draw, being the most profitable Marvel franchise regardless of the medium.
When it comes to the MCU, Spider-Man already has three standalone movies with a fourth in the works, confirmed several months back by producer Amy Pascal. Work on the sequel had started but paused during the WGA Strike. Rumors were floating around a few months ago that Jon Watts would return as the director for “Spider-Man 4,” but then there were whispers that Drew Goddard might take over instead.
Variety’s exclusive report, based on their insider sources, reveals that the script for ‘Spider-Man 4’ is still in progress, without a director or start date confirmed yet.

Fast & Furious and Star Trek: Beyond director Justin Lin is reportedly among the names sought by Marvel and Sony to direct Spider-Man 4.
Director Justin Lin has plenty of experience when it comes to action and special effects-filled franchises, given he’s made several entries in the Fast & Furious franchise. But he also has form when it comes to taking up the reigns of a film series from a departing director; in 2016, he took took over from JJ Abrams to direct Star Trek: Beyond.
We bring this up because, according to a report from Hollywood industry gossip wizard Jeff Sneider (via The Playlist), Lin is among the directors said to be ‘in contention’ to take over the Spider-Man franchise. The rumour goes that Lin has joined Drew Goddard, who made the cult horror Cabin In The Woods, as a potential director for what we’ll call Spider-Man 4 for now.

Sony hopes to wash the taste of Madame Web out of people’s mouths with a new official Spider-Man that has the strength of the MCU behind it. The next entry of the Marvel Studios Spider-Man franchise has been carefully planning its next steps as No Way Home celebrated the web crawler’s film legacy, then ultimately took Peter Parker back to his smaller roots in the end as a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. However, the previous trilogy director, Jon Watts, will not be returning to the new entry, so it’s now up in the air for who can take the reins.

The upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ movie in the MCU is getting a lot of buzz lately. Just a few weeks ago, they announced the release date and cast, confirming what fans have been waiting for. Pedro Pascal is set to play Reed Richards, while Vanessa Kirby will portray Sue Storm. Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn will play The Thing and the Human Torch, respectively.
Since they announced the movie’s release date, we’ve been expecting filming to begin in the summer. But now, CanWeGetSomeToast, a trusted industry source, has some updates. They say filming will start in August confirming what we know, and there’s a possibility Franklin Richards will appear in the film, although we’re not sure how significant his role will be.

Remember when we first met Din Djarin? He swaggers into that cantina in the first episode of The Mandalorian, takes down a few ruffians, and flies off with his quarry. No mess, no pomp, no big deal.
Those days now seem long gone, as what started out as a smaller-scale Western set in the world of Star Wars, between the Original and Sequel Trilogies, has now become the hope for the future of the franchise on the big screen. The characters will now be the focus of the next Star Wars movie. Directed by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian & Grogu is currently expected to release in 2026. Does this mean we won’t be seeing the beloved duo on screen at all until then? Or will a potential season 4 of the show bridge the gap on Disney+? It’s a question that has eluded Star Wars fans since the film project was first announced.

Impressed by his work on Cop Car, Marvel brought Jon Watts to helm Spider-Man: Homecoming, starring Tom Holland. Following its success, the director was brought back to craft the next two sequels in the franchise with a much bigger scope than the first one, which was fairly a street-level film. But being a street-level film was one of Homecoming‘s biggest charms, as it helped the movie differentiate itself from other MCU IPs, and Marvel is reportedly looking to go that route again.
However, per reports, Sony was against this idea and wanted the fourth part to follow in No Way Home‘s footsteps by bringing Watts back, but it appears, it isn’t going in Sony’s favor this time.

It’s about time! Thirteen years have gone by since the release of Final Destination 5, but we’ve been hearing rumblings that another sequel was on the way for years. A while back, Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, came on board to produce the sixth film in the Final Destination franchise alongside Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Craig Perry. Back in September of 2022, we learned that the duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie, would be directing Final Destination 6. I can't say if actor Tom Holland is well-suited to play Spider-Man, but I can say with absolute certainty that he is a first-rate teen heartthrob. He's handsome, affable, and dazzling in interviews. He has mastered the self-deprecating smile, and his tendency to give away the plot details of Avengers movies weirdly humanizes him. When it comes to acting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems little else is demanded of its leading men. Acting is less important than ineffable charm.
Holland, 27, has played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in six feature films, having appeared in several would-be blockbusters/prestige pictures in between, including "The Lost City of Z," "Cherry," and "Chaos Walking." It’s been well over a decade since Sony Pictures pulled the plug on Spider-Man 4, but Thomas Haden Church believes there’s still a chance it could happen.
After Sam Raimi departed Spider-Man 4, Sony elected to reboot the franchise with The Amazing Spider-Man, but Tobey Maguire would return to the role years later in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Seeing the Og Spidey back on the big screen sparked interest in resurrecting Spider-Man 4, and Thomas Haden Church told ComicBook.com that he thinks it could happen and that he could even return as Sandman.
“There’s been some rumors that they might ask me to do another Spider-Man, and I’d do it tomorrow,” Church said. “You know, they’ve never asked me to show up in another movie, another Marvel film. But, you know, I think Sam is gonna do another Spider-Man with Tobey [Maguire], and that’s...

Marvel and Sony are butting heads on the upcoming Spider-Man 4 movie and it’s not at all good news for fans of Tom Holland’s web-slinger. Kevin Feige-led Marvel and Tom Rothman-led Sony are divided on the creative direction, the release date, and the director of the movie. Both Marvel fans and Feige do not want the Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts to direct the next film and they have a clear reason why.

Marvel Studios is considering Netflix’s Daredevil creator Drew Goddard to direct Spider-Man 4. The studio also does not want the film to be released next year alongside plenty of other planned MCU movies, which is something Sony reportedly opposes.
