Alec Baldwin is proving his VOD bankability is not rusty one bit.
Baldwin’s latest film “Supercell” debuted in the top 10 on iTunes, marking the actor’s first movie released since the fatal October 2021 shooting on the “Rust” set. Baldwin is currently facing manslaughter charges in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. “Rust” producer Anjul Nigam and actor Baldwin’s production banner Persona Entertainment is also behind “Supercell,” with Nigam credited as an executive producer.
“Supercell” only grossed under $8,000 in theaters since its March 17 day-and-date release on VOD. Directed by Herbert James Winterstern from a script co-written by Anna Elizabeth James, “Supercell” follows a teenage boy (Daniel Diemer) who tries to save his storm-chasing father’s legacy from a corrupt local tourism business. Baldwin portrays the film’s profit-hungry villain, Zane Rogers.

The filming of Rust will be concluded a year and a half after the death of its cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, producers announced on Wednesday (22 February).
Hutchins was killed on the set after a prop gun held by the film’s producer and star Alec Baldwin discharged a real bullet, which struck the cinematographer.
Baldwin and the film’s armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed currently face involuntary manslaughter charges for the incident, however, the 30 Rock star will be among the cast and crew returning to production.
News of the film’s restart comes days after Baldwin was handed a major legal victory when a New Mexico district attorney dropped gun enhancement charges against the embattled actor.
Baldwin’s attorneys had blasted the decision to slap the enhancement charge on the actor because the law had been passed after the October 2021 shooting.

Rust is set to finish filming at Yellowstone Film Ranch in Montana this spring, the movie’s producers announced on Wednesday.
The production will include star and producer Alec Baldwin, who’s facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter for his role in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. It will also feature a mix of new and old crew, with Bianca Cline (Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, American Horror Story) joining in Hutchins’ place.
The announcement follows New Mexico prosecutors on Monday dropping gun enhancement charges against Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed. Lawyers for Baldwin had argued that their client was unconstitutionally charged with violating a recently amended firearm enhancement statute that didn’t exist at the time of the incident. He now faces a maximum sentence of 18 months in prison instead of six and a half years if convicted.

“Rust” is finally set to resume filming, with producers announcing Wednesday that production would pick up on the Alec Baldwin movie later this spring in Montana on the Yellowstone Film Ranch.
Though Taylor Sheridan’s “Yellowstone” also films (elsewhere) in Montana, Yellowstone Film Ranch is home to Western films like Nicolas Cage’s “The Old Way” and “Murder at Yellowstone City,” and not the smash-hit Paramount Network series.
Producers have been talking for months about plans to finally finish filming on “Rust,” which was halted in the wake of the fatal October 2021 accident involving cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. But it remained a question where and when producers could pick work back up — and who would return.
Earlier this month, producers announced that Bianca Cline, who worked as the cinematographer on “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On,” would replace Hutchins as the film’s Dp. The film’s director Joel Souza, who...

The producers of “Rust” announced Wednesday that they will complete the film at the Yellowstone Film Ranch in Montana, with production set to begin this spring.
Alec Baldwin is still on board in the lead role, despite facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter in New Mexico for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
The filmmakers announced in October that they would finish the film, which has been on hold since Hutchins was shot and killed in October 2021. The announcement was made as the production settled a civil suit with Hutchins’ widower, Matthew, who will become an executive producer.
They had previously said they would not return to New Mexico, but had not said where the production would resume. Production was about halfway completed when Hutchins was killed.
Like New Mexico, Montana offers a tax incentive for film production, which ranges from 20% to 35% of production costs. The hit TV show “Yellowstone” also films in Montana.

Television fans were shocked earlier this year when "Saturday Night Live" alum Nasim Pedrad's "Chad" was canceled by TBS mere hours before the second season was about to premiere. This wasn't an instance where an episode or two were finished and the team was in the process of shooting the rest of the season, either. Season 2 of "Chad" was signed, sealed, and delivered, only to have their plug pulled just before airtime. A few months later, HBO Max quietly dropped the series' first season from their streaming platform, effectively yeeting "Chad" into the digital void, only to remain a distant memory. The cancellation seemed to be collateral damage in the wake of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, which inspired some pretty drastic changes for both TBS and sibling cable channel TNT.

Nasim Pedrad’s cringe comedy series “Chad” has been saved from certain death. The series, which aired its first season on TBS, will move to the Roku Channel for Season 2, IndieWire has confirmed.
In July, TBS pulled Season 2 from its programming schedule the day it was scheduled to premiere and confirmed to several outlets that the season would not air on the network. The show, which had already wrapped production on the season, was the highest profile consequence of restructuring at the channel following the Warner Bros. Discovery merger. The merger prompted the company, under the leadership of David Zaslav, to cut original scripted programming from TBS and other networks in its portfolio.
A premiere date for Season 2 of the show has not yet been announced. In addition to airing the new season, Roku has also acquired non-exclusive streaming rights to Season 1. This isn’t the first time the video...

Exclusive: Chad has found a new home.
The second season of Nasim Pedrad’s coming-of-age comedy series will run on The Roku Channel after it was scrapped as part of the cost-cutting measures at Warner Bros. Discovery cable network TBS.
As Deadline revealed, Chad was one of a number of shows and movies — completed or in various stages of pre-production or production — that were dropped after CEO David Zaslav took charge of the combined company. While the others were permanently shelved to use as corporate tax write-downs, following a plea by Pedrad to the new TBS leadership, she and her team were allowed to shop the series.

Daniel Radcliffe has admitted he is “concerned” about what the parents of his actor girlfriend, Erin Darke, will think of the new biopic he is starring in, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.
The Harry Potter star is portraying the American singer who is famous for parody versions of popular songs, such as the 1996 hit “Amish Paradise”, a humorous spoof of the Coolio track “Gangsta’s Paradise”.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Radcliffe was asked what Darke’s reaction was to his portrayal of Yankovic, since she is such a fan of the musical comedian.
“Actually, after [director] Eric [Appel] and Al [Yankovic], the people I’m most concerned about their reaction is probably my in-laws,” Radcliffe said.
“Erin’s dad and brother, because they’re massive fans as well. Erin’s seen the movie but I’ll be interested in what [her father] Ian thinks. I really hope he likes it.”

One year into its original programming push, Roku is debuting its first major international title.
This week, the company will launch “Children Ruin Everything,” an already popular Canadian series, on its free streaming service. Daniel Radcliffe has been tapped to play musician “Weird Al” Yankovic in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, a Roku Original biopic from Funny or Die and Tango that will be available for streaming exclusively on The Roku Channel.
Yankovic and Eric Appel penned the feature, with the latter Funny or Die alum set to direct, after helming a short film of the same name for the production company back in 2010. Production will kick off in Los Angeles early next month.
Known for pastiching and parodying the works of his musical contemporaries, Yankovic is the biggest-selling comedy recording artist of all time. A five-time Grammy winner, his 2014 release Mandatory Fun was the first comedy album in history to debut at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200. He is one of only three artists to land top 40 hits in each of the last four decades—the others being Michael Jackson and Madonna.
