For Mod Sun, closing the chapter on a "tumultuous" relationship opened the door to a life-changing experience he'll never forget.
The singer, born Derek Ryan Smith, recently reflected on his disastrous dependency on drugs and how it nearly killed him at the lowest point of his life — a "very scrutinized" breakup with actress Bella Thorne.
Although Mod Sun's romance with Bella Thorne ended in 2019, it remains a heartbreaking yet pivotal moment for the "Karma" hitmaker.

The world should value consent. However, Madonna‘s “Erotica” was banned from MTV for depicting consensual roleplay. The Queen of Pop had a surprising reaction to this development. One of the musicians behind Madonna’s album Erotica also had some perceptive things to say about the controversy.
Madonna’s ‘Erotica’ was pulled from MTV for being ‘repellent’
Madonna’s music video for “Erotica” looks like a rediscovered print of a black-and-white silent film about the Folsom Street Fair. It’s grainy, disorientingly edited, and niche in a way that’s generally anathema to a mass-market pop offering. The video has a lot of images that nobody would want to watch with their grandma. The Material Girl had previously explored Bdsm in her music videos for “Express Yourself” and “Justify My Love,” but she took things to a new level of explicitness with “Erotica.” After all, the music video had to...

The country music world shared the stage at the 2024 ACM Awards, where Post Malone performed songs from his upcoming country album, Dua Lipa joined Chris Stapleton for a duet, and Avril Lavigne and Noah Kahan partnered with country musicians onstage.
It almost felt like Beyoncé — who recently made history on the country charts with Cowboy Country — might pop up. She didn’t Thursday night, but host Reba McEntire did reference Queen Bey’s historic project during her opening monologue.
“We’re here to talk about country music and how everyone is invited and welcome here at country music’s party of the year. From Mother Maybelle to Cowboy Carter, country music is so big in 2024 that there’s room for everybody,” she said. “We all love country [music] and we all are country, and we’re keeping the circle unbroken, but growing it to even bigger and better.”

Avril Lavigne’s greatest hits album has all the music that fans would expect … except for one song. The “Girlfriend” singer decided to keep one track off the album that made numerous headlines back in the day. Unfortunately, most of those headlines were not positive in the slightest. Here’s a look at a song that Lavigne might want to forget.
A song Avril Lavigne left off her greatest hits album was widely viewed as racist
Nylon reports Lavinge’s greatest hits album, which is simply called Avril Lavigne — Greatest Hits, has all of the singer’s classic 2000s chart juggernauts, such as “Complicated,” “Girlfriend,” and “I’m with You.” The 2010s weren’t as kind to Lavigne, as she only scored a few minor hits during that decade, such as “What the Hell,” “Here’s to Never Growing Up,” and “Smile.” Unsurprisingly, those tunes also appear on the upcoming record.

One of the many mood-setting songs on the "Barbie" soundtrack was "What Was I Made For?" by Billie Eilish and her brother/co-writer Finneas O'Connell. Tonight at the 96th Academy Awards, the duo and their tune took home the Oscar for Best Original Song as Miss Eilish made Oscar history.
This is Eilish and O'Connell's second Oscar win; they previously won Best Original Song in 2022 for "No Time To Die," the anthem from the eponymous James Bond movie. With these two almost back-to-back wins, the 22-year-old Eilish is now the youngest two-time Oscar winner in history. I'd bet good money this year's golden statue won't be the last she'll display on her shelf.
Eilish is the latest musical goth it-girl of the moment, following in the footsteps of her cited influences like Avril Lavigne. Her whispery singing can be sad and/or creepy depending on what lyrics she's letting out.

Olivia Rodrigo is finally heading out on the road again to play her new album around the globe for the Guts world tour, which kicked off in Palm Springs on Feb. 23. Whether or not you’ve scored your tickets yet (which if you haven’t, you should get on that stat), if you’re planning on joining the crowd, pumping your fist and screaming “get him back!”, then the outfit-planning starts now.

Five new podcasts are announced by the BBC – but every one of them comes with a host who already has some profile.
An update! I’ve now been in contact with the BBC, and have happier news to report. Unlike some of the big commercial podcast companies, the corporation does indeed have a scheme running that’s actively looking for new podcast voices. This is all part of BBC Audio Labs, for which new applications open shortly, and successful applicants don’t just get to make their shows, but get marketing, social and PR support.
I’m leaving the original story here, but I want to acknowledge that I may have been a bit harsh towards the BBC here. I still wish it could do more, as you’d expect, but I’m thrilled it’s doing what many others aren’t.
Up front, just want to say: no slight...

Known for her biting directness and no-holds-barred authenticity, rising pop-punk star LØLØ continues to deliver with an emotionally-charged new track ‘poser’, as she declares, “Why would you kiss me and pull me closer / just to leave me hanging of of the edge?”
LØLØ plays with juxtaposition on the vulnerable track, contrasting caustic lyricism against a solemn sonic backdrop where grungy, understated guitars meet chilly cymbals to mirror LØLØ’s feelings of loneliness, confusion, and distress. LØLØ uses “poser” to sift through memories of her relationship for answers.
The depth of her emotion on the track is vast, with a patina of understanding captured in the song’s layered outro with LØLØ announcing her ex-lover is “full of it.” LØLØ says of the track, “‘poser’ is about someone who really got me good, who really truly made me believe they loved me, when it later became clear to me, they simply couldn’t have.

John Lennon‘s “Imagine” is the most famous song by a former Beatle. Paul McCartney has covered countless songs over the years and yet he never put his spin on “Imagine.” He once explained why he didn’t want to cover “Imagine.” Love or hate his decision, his reasoning makes a lot of sense given the song’s lasting cultural impact.
Paul McCartney felt that everyone sings John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’
During a 1990 interview with Rolling Stone, Paul discussed one of his aborted ideas. “In fact, I considered doing a major tribute to John,” he said. “But it suddenly felt too precious, too showbiz. I was going to have a whacking great picture of John and just say, ‘He was my friend.’ Which was true. I’m totally proud to have worked with him.

Singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne, who released her debut album, ‘Let Go’, back in 2002, has explained the thought process behind her trend-setting personal style.
The ‘Complicated’ hitmaker said: “I just wanted to be comfortable. I didn’t want to dress ordinary or, you know, too plain,” reports Female First UK.
She told Entertainment Tonight: “I was definitely in touch with my sportier, more tomboy side, so I was wearing a lot of, like, kind of skateboarding clothes and hoodies and baggy pants.”
As per Female First UK, Avril’s style proved to be hugely popular with her fans, and the singer confessed to being surprised by her own influence.
The chart-topping star shared: “I remember playing my first concert at a little club and looking out the window and seeing fans lined up down the street all dressed like me – tank top, necktie, straight hair, black eyes – and I was just like,...
