There’s a side of Gabrielle Union that her fans have never seen. In her new memoir, We’re Going to Need More Wine, which is out Tuesday, the 44-year-old actress gives readers an inside look at her life.
From growing up in Pleasanton, California, and spending summers in Omaha, Nebraska, where she and her cousin snuck boys into the house (unbeknownst to her grandmother) to becoming an actress, and even building a friendship of sorts with Prince (she landed invites to more than one of his epic parties), Union doesn't hold back. She also shares tidbits her love life, from old boyfriends to prenup negotiations with her husband, Dwyane Wade, as well harder-hitting topics like colorism, ageism, fertility struggles, and the importance of women owning their sexuality.
Although reliving parts of her past was understandably “terrifying," Union faced the tough stories in order to discover her “authentic self.” Whether it’s celebrating her triumphs, or shedding light on...

This case was featured on Monday night’s People Magazine Investigates. Now learn more with People’s complete digital coverage.
The victims were all young vulnerable black women who lived in south Los Angeles and struggled with drug addiction. Their naked or partially clothed bodies were all dumped in the filthy neighborhood alleyways, left to rot under garbage and debris. They were shot at close range with a .25-caliber pistol, or strangled, or both.
For years, their cases lacked justice — or even an arrest.
But in May, following three months of testimony in Los Angeles Superior Court, Lonnie Franklin Jr.

On Wednesday, a Los Angeles judge sentenced Grim Sleeper serial killer Lonnie Franklin Jr. to death for the murders of 10 women during a 23-year killing spree. A bespectacled Franklin, wearing orange jail scrubs, stared straight ahead and showed no emotion when the judge handed down the sentence. Jerry Ferrara revealed the six-pack he's been hiding over the weekend while out for a walk on the beach! The Entourage actor was out for a stroll on Saturday during a break from checking out Brittny and Lisa Gastineau's jewelry line launch. Accompanying Jerry for the walk was his girlfriend, Alexandra Blodgett. Shirtless Jerry Ferrara waded into the water and was seen lifting Alexandra into a passionate embrace. It seems like she's a fan of his svelte physique, and even Jerry's costar Emmanuelle Chriqui told us she's noticed his slimmed-down figure. Emmanuelle said of Jerry's weight loss, "He is exactly where he's supposed to be right now . . . he's so gorgeous it's crazy. And he gets it all the time. Everyone on set was like, 'What's up hottie?'" View Slideshow ›...

It's no secret Jerry Ferrara went through a pretty impressive weight loss -- and now, we're getting our first shirtless shot of the " Entourage " star's new beach body! Ferrara was spotted on the beach in Malibu, CA on Saturday with his gorgeous girlfriend Alexandra Blodgett , looking incredibly different from the last time we saw him shirtless during an episode of the HBO show back in 2009 ( left ). Ferrara told Life & Style last week that he's lost 55lbs by "just eating well," adding "I really changed everything [about] what I ate and was drinking. It's been slow, maybe 2 or 3 pounds a month." Check out more shots of Jerry at the beach above! Read more...

Ferrara, who used to date sometimes co-star Jamie-Lynn Sigler , stepped out with two ladies by his side last night: His mom and new girlfriend Alexandra Blodgett . The Music Room (Criterion) Satyajit Ray’s 1958 masterpiece looks at the life of a fallen aristocrat as a metaphor for an India that is not only becoming Westernized, but modernized technologically and culturally beyond recognition. When the beloved music room, where he has hosted lavish concerts in the past, starts falling into disrepair as attendance drops steadily, the man realizes his way of life is vanishing. Stunningly shot in black & white, one of Ray’s finest works. Bonuses: Documentary on Ray from 1984 by Shyam Benegal; Interviews with Ray biographer Andrew Robinson and filmmaker Mira Nair; Excerpt from 1981 roundtable discussion between Ray, critic Michael Ciment, director Claude Sautet. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Full screen. Dolby 1.0 mono.
Beauty And The Beast (Criterion) Jean Cocteau’s sublime adaptation of the classic fairy tale become a beloved classic upon its 1946 release, and hasn’t faded since.

As he sneered at the victims' families, the man alleged to be the longest-operating serial killer on the West Coast was indicted today for the deaths of 10 women.
Alleged Grim Sleeper serial killer Lonnie Franklin, Jr. was indicted today in the gruesome murders of 10 women and the attempted murder of another in a series of murders that spanned over two decades. The victims, who ranged in age from 14 to 35 years old, were found in alleyways and dumpsters along Western Avenue in South Los Angeles. The charges make Franklin eligible for the death penalty.

If there's ever been a more appropriate metaphor for Antm than this week's photoshoot, I don't know what it is: All aboard the S train, which just shuttles back and forth, back and forth, never really making much of a journey, and always smelling like career failure and boiling garbage. (Trust me.) So it is with Top Model, loathe to break any new ground or move in compelling, fresh directions; instead it just sways to and fro, from Grand Central to Times Square, from ratty weaves to arguments about respect, from annoying "you don't know me" screaming matches to over-enthusiasm for Seventeen magazine.

The Golden Globes are set to air on Sunday night (we should have an open thread up, so be sure to come back and hang out during the show). Really, the only reason you have for watching it is that it's one of the rare years where there will actually be a host -- Ricky Gervais -- and it's a host that's probably worth watching, inasmuch as any host presiding over an awards ceremony can be worth watching. Also, sometimes the alcohol flows a little heavily during the Gg's and someone ends up making an ass of him or herself. Plus, it not only offers a preview of the Oscars nominations, but the Oscar speeches, too, as many of the participants don't bother to alter their acceptance speeches too much (see Mickey Rourke in 2009).
Anyway, here's a fresh reminder of the nominations, and for my own edification, I'll bold who...

Here are your 2009 Golden Globe nominations, brought to you by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. But before you start rambling about the idiocy of the Hfpa, let's remember one thing: They don't make movies and television shows, they only choose which ones are best. They don't always have an amazing pool of choices. And given the sheer amount of nominations, they basically just choose everything with a whiff of decency, which is probably why you see Sandra Bullock among the nominations. Twice. For two different films. Sandra Bullock. Sandra fucking Bullock. The star of Miss Congeniality. Let me put it another way: Sandra Bullock has the same number of nominations as Meryl Streep. And Matt Damon. And all she was doing in The Blind Side was an impression of Connie Britton in "Friday Night Lights." And a bad one, at that.
Jesus.
