After their 2014 collaboration, The Simpsons and Family Guy reunited once again in a surprising move, for a mini crossover short for Disney+. Two of animation’s most beloved families came together for a side-splitting encounter that has left fans of both shows craving for more.

In Taika Waititi's 2022 film "Thor: Love and Thunder," an emotionally wounded man named Gorr (Christian Bale) has learned that the very real gods of the Marvel universe are selfish, uncaring, and are more interested in cavorting with nymphs and naiads than answering prayers. By happenstance, he comes into possession of a magical sword specifically designed for killing gods and takes on a quest to rid the universe of its living deities. "Love and Thunder" could have brought up some tantalizingly difficult questions about atheism, or the role of faith in the modern world. It could have mentioned the dubious function of gods in a universe that regularly produces superpowered uber-beings. It didn't. Instead, it was a whimsical slapstick comedy starring a hero who, like Homer Simpson, became dumber and dumber as the series progressed.
Partway through "Love and Thunder," Gorr kidnaps the children of Asgard and imprisons them in the Shadow Realm,...

Thirty years on, stars Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves have said they’d be interested in making Speed 3. “We’d knock it out of the park,” Bullock enthused.
It’s almost exactly 30 years since director Jan de Bont made the corking action thriller Speed – better known to Homer Simpson as The Bus That Couldn’t Slow Down. All these decades later, the film’s co-stars, Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves, have expressed their interest in making a third film – though the way they talk about the prospect suggests they may not be entirely serious.
The pair briefly talked about a possible Speed 3 on the 50Mph podcast, as picked up by The Hollywood Reporter. Bullock immediately sounded keen on the idea, saying, “We’d freakin’ knock it out of the park.”
Reeves concurred. “It does feel like there’s a siren call to it,” he said, “like there’s something that wasn’t done.

"The Simpsons," now in its 500th season (okay, it's actually in season 35, but who's counting?) recently made headlines by killing off a character who has been with the show since the beginning. It's not the first time the classic animated sitcom has bumped off a character — Maude Flanders famously died, as did Bart's teacher Mrs. Krabappel, and both instances left poor Ned Flanders a widower. Bleeding Gums Murphy's death sent Lisa Simpson into depression. Dr. Marvin Monroe was said to have died, only to then return. Then, of course, there's the unfortunate Frank Grimes, who died after grabbing some electrical wiring in one of the show's most infamous (and best) episodes. In short, death is nothing new to Springfield — especially when you consider how long "The Simpsons" has been on the air. The characters may not exactly age, but time marches on.
However, this recent character death seems to be getting to people.

In today’s world of instant gratification, The Simpsons is a glorious anomaly. For 35 years and over 750 episodes, the iconic animated sitcom has entered the living rooms of many generations of audiences and has still managed to remain relevant. Apart from the main characters becoming like family, the show has also stood out for its periphery roles that have gained cult status.

One of these characters who has appeared since the inception of the show in 1989 is Larry ‘The Barfly’ Dalrymple. While he has mostly been a fly-on-the-wall personality, he endeared himself to hardcore fans of the show. Now, after almost three and a half decades, Larry The Barfly is officially dead. Executive producer Tim Long responded to the depressed reactions from fans and explained why this had to happen.

Zoro is a legendary character, not only in One Piece but in other anime and manga franchises as well. The daunting swordsman is often the butt of jokes due to his inability to figure out directions. However, that has not stopped him from appearing in other famous works.
Franchises like Haikyu!!, Kagurabachi and more have included Zoro references in their plot, proving that other mangakas are nerds for Eiichiro Oda’s work. But make sure this doesn’t reach the ears of Sanji fans, or the rivalry between the characters might just prove fatal.

When we think of fully realized fictional worlds, we tend to think of fantastical genre places like Middle-earth or the "Star Wars" universe. These are settings with intricate history and mythology; places not of our world.
One location we don't normally consider to be as intricate is Springfield. Plenty of sitcoms have fleshed-out worlds with characters the audience gets to know and care for over time, but few shows have as intricate a world with as much detail as "The Simpsons."
Sure, Springfield doesn't have fantasy elements or mythological creatures (most of the time), and it doesn't need them. This is as thoroughly constructed and fleshed out a world as "Dune," or Discworld, with its own unique history of deception, an abundance of colorful side characters like the enigmatic Dr. Marvin Monroe, a corrupt system of power, unique institutions, and more.
Before you light up your torches, think about how much we know about Springfield.

This was a lot of fun and I am not concerned to admit that my enjoyment of this really caught me off guard. I get sucked into anything with ‘Weapon X’ in the title and sometimes in the past that has burned me. But wow this was so much fun! That is high praise indeed seeing as it doesn’t really involve any alternate Wolverines I hold a soft spot for. Okay Old Man Logan is tried and tested, but I feel he has been overused. Here he is presented perfectly as like a Lethal Weapon ‘I’m too old for this shit’ Wolverine. Then we have Weapon X from Age of Apocalypse. That four-issue mini-series is a massive blind spot for me, but I am certainly tracking it down after reading this. In this story...

"What state is Springfield in?" is a question almost every "The Simpsons" fan has asked, desperate to bring the characters a bit closer to reality. It's also a question with no answer (unlike the recently-answered question of how Homer Simpson keeps his job).
The book "The Springfield Confidential" -- an inside look at "The Simpsons" by former showrunner Mike Reiss (with help from Mathew Klickstein) -- explains the origin of Springfield's name. Creator Matt Groening chose it because it was such a common and generic name for American towns. Springfield was also the name of the town in the 1950s sitcom "Father Knows Best," which likewise treated its setting as "Anytown, USA."
"I was thrilled because I imagined that [Springfield in 'Father Knows Best'] was the town next to Portland, [Oregon], my hometown. When I grew up, I realized it was just a fictitious name," Groening recounted.
Aside from Oregon, here are some other notable Springfields in the United States.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 reunion continues on Bravo Wednesday night with Part 2 of the special, and Erika Jayne is opening up about her experience.
During the first part of the reunion, Kyle Richards and Dorit Kemsley argued back and forth, with Jayne in the middle of her two co-stars. The situation was seemingly uncomfortable, and Jayne noted that her outfit helped make it look more dramatic.
“The couch is small, first of all, [and] we’re really kind of stacked in there,” Jayne told Deadline. “And then to see [them] having this conversation, and my shoulder pads, my ponytail, I literally had to be like… I felt like Homer Simpson in the hedge,” she said, referencing The Simpsons meme of Homer backing into a hedge.

Early on in the season, Kemsley asked Richards about any marital issues before the subject became a storyline with the rest of the group.

Many shocking deaths have taken place in television history including M*A*S*H’s Henry Blake and Knots Landing’s Sid Fairgate. However, even though we know George Cooper, Sr., played by Lance Barber, is likely to kick the bucket in the final season of Young Sheldon, we’re still going to be very sorry to see him go. Sheldon (Jim Parsons) didn’t paint the most flattering picture of his late dad on The Big Bang Theory. In fact, he rarely described his father in flattering terms, recalling such instances of his dad forcing to him watch football and teaching him how to shoot close enough to a raccoon that it “craps itself.” As far Sheldon was concerned, his dad would fit right in with Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin. However, our memories aren’t always fully accurate. In the able hands of both the Young Sheldon creative team and Barber,...

On Jan. 31, 1999, Fox introduced Peter Griffin and Co. to America as Seth MacFarlane’s animated Family Guy series premiered. The show, canceled after its third season, was then revived and is now a broadcast staple in its 22nd season. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:
If one is good and two are better, then surely three, four and five can’t miss. Or so the thinking goes at Fox, home of The Simpsons, King of the Hill and three midseason primetime animated comedies. Indeed, the third show, The PJs, is off to a good start, and the fourth, Family Guy, shows similar promise. (The fifth, Futurama, is not due for a couple of months.)
Family Guy is bright, entertaining and often witty and warm. In its post-Super Bowl slot Sunday, the show will receive high exposure. Viewers who develop an appetite for it, though, have to wait until March for the next episode.

The main characters of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" are so outrageous they seem like they couldn't possibly be based in real life, and Frank is perhaps the strangest of them all. Portrayed by the incomparable Danny DeVito, Dennis and Dee's millionaire father chooses to move into their friend Charlie's tiny apartment and leave his upper-class lifestyle behind.
"He's got the Midas touch, but he misses living in squalor," DeVito explained in an interview with The New York Times. "The one line that got me hooked to do the show was that I had a scene with Charlie Day, and I say [...] 'Let me come and live with you, man. I miss living in this Bohemian style.'"
Frank develops several new bohemian quirks, like a "toe knife" he uses to dig the scum out of his toenails, a habit of eating cat food before bed, and a penchant for...

It was a perfect Hollywood afternoon. There was sun, a slight breeze, and some of the most famous faces on the planet. And for Demna Gvasalia, there was fear.
The Balenciaga creative director has proven himself one of the most adept and blunt bottlers of our zeitgeist for the past decade, and his artistic interpretations are among the most polarizing and debated in fashion. It’s perhaps understandable then that after the brand’s first Los Angeles show in its 105-year history, he was “very afraid” to talk to the locals.

I love cartoons. Specifically cartoon series from the 80’s and 90’s. Whenever someone asks me what my favorite childhood cartoon is, I always say there are two. The first is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the second is Darkwing Duck. I was the biggest fan of the masked mallard, and who wouldn’t be? He was brave, smart, egotistical, and accident-prone but would persevere against evil. He had a killer costume and cool equipment to fight bad guys. He had an awesome rogue’s gallery that was a bit of a joke but also surprisingly formidable. The cartoon was also not afraid to show its love for classic superhero comics at a time when the general public didn’t understand it. It even broke through the Iron Curtain at the height of the Cold War. But does this cartoon from the early 90’s still hold up? Is it a silly...

The greatly delayed 75th annual Primetime Emmys are only a month away, but the ceremony finally has a host: Anthony Anderson. The “Black-ish” star will helm the January 15, 2024, telecast on Fox, live at 8 p.m. Et/5 p.m. Pt from downtown Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater (formerly the Microsoft) at the L.A. Live complex.
“With our industry’s recent challenges behind us, we can get back to what we love — dressing up and honoring ourselves,” Anderson said in a statement. “And there’s no better celebratory moment to bring the creative community together than the milestone 75th Emmy Awards. When Fox asked me to host this historic telecast, I was over the moon that Taylor Swift was unavailable, and now I can’t wait to be part of the biggest night in television.”

Adapted from Nathanael West’s scabrously funny 1939 novel, The Day of the Locust reunites the creative triumvirate of producer Jerome Hellman, director John Schlesinger, and screenwriter Waldo Salt, who had previously teamed up for Midnight Cowboy. Superficially, the two films would seem to be quite different. One is a contemporary tale shot documentary-style on the mean streets of late-’60s New York. The other is an exquisitely detailed period piece filmed largely on Paramount soundstages in L.A. Midnight Cowboy favors gritty realism, while The Day of the Locust descends into a kind of deranged surrealism. But the films are linked since they both focus on loners and outcasts, salaciously prod the seedy underbelly of their milieus, and expose the unforgiving flipside of the American Dream.
The biggest difference between the two films is that Midnight Cowboy mitigates its ultimately tragic denouement with a certain tenderness between its damaged protagonists.

Google is celebrating the last 25 years of its search engine, and it is leaning on a heavy dose of pop culture to help it do so.
The tech giant on Monday released a video celebrating the most searched topics, people and events of the last 25 years. And while there was plenty of newsworthy events featured (9/11, the legalization of gay marriage, the Black Lives Matter movement), film, TV and music were also heavily featured.
Among the most searched of the last 25 years include Taylor Swift, the most searched songwriter; Homer Simpson, the most searched Simpsons character; Barbie, the most searched toy; Cristiano Ronaldo, the most searched athlete; Spongebob Squarepants, the most searched cartoon; and Spider-Man, the most searched superhero.

Homer Simpson has been strangling Bart for over thirty years, and despite rumours to the contrary, he’ll keep doing it. An odd thing to say about child abuse, but here we are.
A recent episode of The Simpsons suggested that Homer’s days of strangling Bart had come to an end. In the episode McMansion & Wife, which aired on October 22nd, Homer shakes the hand of his new neighbour, who comments that Homer had “quite a grip” when they shook hands. “See, Marge, strangling the boy has paid off,” Homer said to his wife. “Just kidding, I don’t do that anymore. Times have changed.“
This prompted fans to believe that The Simpsons would be putting an end to the long-running “gag,” with some applauding the action and others criticizing it. However, series co-developer and producer James L. Brooks told People that nothing has changed with the series. “Don...

Homer Simpson is not about to change his ways.
Amid speculation that The Simpsons patriarch is about to stop strangling his son, Bart, the show’s co-creator has confirmed that Homer’s habit will die hard.
James L. Brooks told People: “Nothing’s getting tamed. Nothing, nothing, nothing … He’ll continue to be strangled — [if] you want to use that awful term for it. He’ll continue to be loved by his father in a specific way.”
The Simpsons itself signaled a move away from Homer’s unique brand of punishment during the episode McMansion & Wife, which premiered on October 22 on Fox.

Homer Simpson’s reported decision to stop strangling his son, Bart, has fans talking — at least on the Internet. That’s where everyone, of course, has an opinion. And now, the executive producers behind “The Simpsons” have put together a response — in animated form:
Their one comment? “Homer Simpson was unavailable for comment as he was busy strangling Bart.” So perhaps this was much ado about nothing… or at least, an interesting exercise in blowing news out of proportion?
The frenzy erupted after the episode “McMansion & Wife,” which aired Oct. 22 on Fox. In the episode — the third of Season 35 — Homer jokes that all of those years strangling Bart have paid off with a firm handshake. But then, he adds, “I don’t do that anymore. Times have changed.”
Once people online noticed, that set off hundreds of social media posts and think pieces: Some applauding the show for making Homer more of a good dad,...
