Hailing from Toronto, Chicago, and Beijing, Matthew Yifeng is a trilingual actor best known for his role in Skin Can Breathe on HBO Max.
After training at the Chicago Merit School of Music as a classical pianist and competing on the nationally televised Chinese singing show SuperBoy at age 19, Matthew graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University. As the former Musical Director of the Vanderbilt Melodores--champions of NBC's The Sing-Off Season 5--he has performed at Carnegie Hall, the White House, and America's Got Talent.
While at Vanderbilt, Matthew was also a founding member of Diverso: a student-run nonprofit that helps underrepresented student screenwriters break into Hollywood. He coordinated with speakers like Barry Jenkins, Chloe Zhao, and The Daniels, in addition to securing financial sponsors such as the Lin-Manuel Miranda Family Fund, Oprah Winfrey's OWN, and WarnerMedia during Diverso's inaugural year of funding.
In 2022-23, Matthew solo traveled to 22 countries across 4 continents as a recipient of the Vanderbilt Michael B. Keegan Traveling Fellowship, a fellowship awarded annually to 1-2 graduating seniors and reserved for "Vanderbilt's most promising future global leaders." He is based in NYC.
