“Connor, James and Allan are all very talented comedians, and Lord knows we all can use some laughter these days,” said McKay in a statement to Deadline. “But they’re also asking questions that boldly challenge the international corporate power structure like ‘What happens if I start taking regular walks?’ And ‘What would happen if we brought dinosaurs back but they were super tiny?'”

Former TV critic Andy Greenwald had seen the demands of being a showrunner firsthand. When he finally got the chance to call the shots on the USA Network series “Briarpatch,” that opportunity brought everything that comes with overseeing the production of 10 hourlong episodes of TV.
“There was a day in the airport when I was flying back to Albuquerque because we had to crash [Episode] 2 through post to get it to Toronto,” Greenwald told IndieWire. “I think we’re filming 5 and 6, and we were prepping 7 and I was writing or rewriting 8, 9, and 10 and I was at Lax at 6 in the morning and I was like, ‘This…This is awful.’ And then I thought, ‘The only thing worse than this would be not doing it.'”
Despite that occasional solitary heavy workload at an airport boarding gate, Greenwald was far from alone in this process. After he wrote the pilot — the making...

Felicity Huffman won’t care for this one. Erik Feig’s Picturestart and Patrick Wachsberger’s Picture Perfect Entertainment are developing an English-language remake of a Thai heist film in which a group of high school seniors team up to take down a rigged college-admissions system.
The remake is of the 2017 Thai film “Bad Genius” (“Chalard Games Goeng”), which was the highest-grossing Thai film of 2017 and also the highest-grossing Thai film in its international release. Nattawat Poonpiriya directed and produced the film from Gdh 559 about a high school genius who travels to Sydney, Australia, to take an international exam and then send the results back to her friends in Thailand before the exam takes place back home.
Incredibly, Picturestart and Picture Perfect secured the rights to the remake before the current college admissions scandal involving actresses Huffman and Lori Laughlin broke in March.

It’s so, so very difficult to determine how long to stick with a series. Some shows get off to a bad start and later find their voice. Others start bad and get worse. Still others are sporadic in quality, for whatever creative reason.
But the list below is meant to help. Whether you’re looking for a new binge and want to know when a season will hit its peak, or you want to sample shows by seeing the best episode first, check out IndieWire’s ranking of the best TV episodes of 2017.
We don’t necessarily endorse starting with the best episodes — especially if it happens to be the season finale — but in a world of “too much TV,” there’s no wrong way to find the next great show. Ranked by episodic quality, these are the 25 best individual half-hours and hour-long entries of the 2017 season.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “You’re the Worst” Season 4, Episode 12 (“Like People”) and Episode 13 (“It’s Always Been This Way”), the series finale.]
Gretchen chose herself, and she also chose Jimmy.
As Aya Cash’s worstie watched her former other half (Chris Geere) spar with her new other other half (played by Colin Ferguson), it became increasingly clear she couldn’t pick either one. Both were acting like idiots. Both were being immature. Both had made mistakes with her that had not been about her.
So she had to choose herself. Gretchen had to walk out of that kitchen without either man. She had to know that her self-importance, her power, couldn’t be determined by a romantic partner. So she flew solo.
And then she ran in front of Jimmy’s car, slapped him in the face, and put her engagement ring back on, this time (one hopes) for good.

Inside, it’s Sunday. (As in, Funday.)
“I wish I could tell you what I’m wearing right now, but I can’t, because it’ll give stuff away,” the actress teasingly tells TVLine, laughing, via phone.

Frank Herbert, author of the Dune chronicles, had three rules: Never work with kids, animals, or sandworms. This edition of Vulture and Ucb's video series "Pop Culture Memory Lane" explains Rule No. 1: Comedian Eva Anderson recounts the tale of how things went awry when, as a 4-year-old, she appeared on The Merv Griffin Show with her magician dad (and future Night Court star), Harry Anderson. Watch the video to see how the butterfly effect of her cameo may have ruined Herbert's day.
