Christopher Nolan is getting a big endorsement for Oppenheimer from Paul Schrader who is praising his latest film.
In a post on Facebook, the Taxi Driver screenwriter and American Gigolo director shared a photo alongside Nolan giving high marks to the movie about the atomic bomb.
“Oppenheimer. The best, most important film of this century,” Schrader wrote. “If you see one film in cinemas this year it should be Oppenheimer. I’m not a Nolan groupie but this one blows the doors off the hinges.”
Oppenheimer has already been getting positive reactions from film critics following its multiple screenings.
The film stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist credited as the “father of the atomic bomb.” The film is directed and written by Nolan and is based on “American Prometheus” by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.

Christopher Nolan kicked off Universal’s CinemaCon presentation today in Las Vegas, taking the stage to talk about his thriller Oppenheimer, which releases in July. Cillian Murphy stars as the titular J. Robert Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicist whose work on the Manhattan Project led to the creation of the atomic bomb.
“I’m here with a story in the story of J Robert Oppenheimer,” Nolan said. “I know of no more dramatic tale with higher stakes, twists and turns and ethical dilemmas. … The finest minds in the country were in a desperate race against the Nazis to harness the power of the atom in World War II. Picture those same minds realizing the possibility that they might set fire to the entire world, yet they went ahead and pushed the button. I wanted to be there and see what that might be like.”

Imax is out this Sunday with Brandi Carlile: In The Canyon Haze – Live from Laurel Canyon on 31 screens nationwide, an encore of a live event that reps a milestone for the large format exhibitor.
The concert was broadcast Thursday from LA’s storied Laurel Canyon neighborhood to 87 Imax theaters (there would have been a few more if Hurricane Ian hadn’t taken out Florida locations). More than three dozen sold out for what is the company’s top-grossing live event. It featured Carlile and her band — no live audience — performing reimagined versions of songs from her new deluxe album “In The Canyon Haze”. Filmed for Imax using Imax digital cameras, it’s the first event of its kind Imax has staged.
Early this year, the company grossed 300k from its live stream of Kanye West’s Donda 2 concert event in Miami — the closest thing to date. (It released the...

The femme fatale is alive and well in Los Angeles-set indie “No Way Out,” an old-fashioned noir dressed up in the steamy decadence of an erotic thriller. Trouble is, veteran producer Keith Kjarval’s debut solo screenplay doesn’t provide the kind of memorable characters or sharp plotting needed to punch across a dark crime melodrama. Nor does first-time feature director Azi Rahman’s reasonably stylish walk on the wild side seduce sufficiently as a stylistic exercise, reaching for “Irreversible”-esque shock value without ever seeming very surprising or transgressive.
There’s enough sex and violence here to hold attention for an hour and a half, but the care or conviction to explain why it all happens — let alone why viewers should care — proves elusive. Vertical Entertainment is opening the film on a handful of U.S. theater screens on August 8, simultaneous with release to digital and VOD, where its primary audience will be found.

"I met a girl... she's gone." Vertical Entertainment has unveiled an official trailer for an indie crime thriller titled No Way Out, formerly known as Whisper, set in Los Angeles. This is debuting in August if anyone is interested in watching. Joey Bicicchi stars as a budding photographer who arrives to L.A. and falls hard for the quirky young woman Tessa, played by Australian singer / actress Maia Mitchell. So far this is the most cliche L.A. plot setup ever, and of course something bad is going to happen next. They are embroiled in a passionate relationship fueled by sex, drugs and risk that quickly reaches a boiling point when she asks him to do something dangerous. The cast also includes Ashley Nicole Williams, Guy Burnet, Katelyn Pippy, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Luke Brandon Field, & Andy Cohen. This looks especially cheesy and so excruciatingly unoriginal it's not even worth watching this trailer.

“Le Musk,” the directorial debut of Oscar, BAFTA and Grammy winning Indian composer A.R. Rahman (“Slumdog Millionaire”), will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Market’s Cannes Xr program.
The 36-minute film is billed as a cinematic sensory experience incorporating virtual reality, with motion, music and scent integrated into the narrative. It follows heiress and musician Juliet Merdinian, who, 20 years since she was orphaned, seeks out the men who changed her destiny with one powerful memory — that of their scent.
Rahman developed the story from an original idea by his wife Saira. They share a love for perfume and wished to employ scent as a narrative device in immersive cinema. Rahman directed from a screenplay by Gurachi Phoenix, besides composing the score.

Guy Burnet’s face is one you’ve probably seen on your screen quite a few times over the years. Since making his on-screen debut in 2004, he has worked hard to become a fixture in both TV and film. He is probably most recognizable for his role as Craig Dean in Hollyoaks, but he has also been part of lots of other popular projects such as Chicago Fire and Pitch Perfect 3. No matter what kind of role he’s playing, you can trust that Guy is going to put on a memorable performance. Although it’s been a couple of years since

The Feed star Nina Toussaint-White's warning about the core message of the Amazon series shouldn't be taken too literally, of course. The world is not yet hooked up to a single network via neural implants (emphasis on "yet"), though the interplay between modern society and smartphone technology certainly emulates the high-stakes fears at play in Channing Powell's adaptation of Nick Clark Windo's novel of the same name.

You've seen Guy Burnet before. Whether you caught him on Ray Donovan, Chicago Fire, The Affair, or my favorite, Counterpart, you'll recognize him and recall his considerable talent.
Now starring on The Feed for Amazon, he's leading an ensemble cast in a story that brings to light some pretty frightening possibilities for our future.
Guy is incredibly passionate about the subject matter at the center of The Feed, and if you weren't considering it after reading our full review of the Feed, then you will be once you read our interview. Enjoy!
I've seen six episodes of The Feed, but I would love for you to describe it to my readers.
Oh, my goodness. All right, that's all right. All right, it's a bit complex, but I can do that. I was just literally reading an article on TV Fanatic about The Feed now about clicking the mouse in your head.

Futuristic stories tend to upend the usual ways we judge an effective story. Every detail of some fictional, far-off future is a storytelling choice in itself. The elements of the recognizable world that get left behind are just as much a part of building out a future world as what’s included or how people interact.
In the new Amazon series “The Feed,” there’s less of an initial attempt to come up with bizarre fashion choices or crazy-tech vehicles. The biggest change is the overall shift to fewer things and greater empty space. Office areas are sparse. Living rooms are bare. Even the streets seem less crowded. That’s due in major part to The Feed, a near-universal technology that works much in the way Google Glass was supposed to. Via a device implanted in each “enabled” user, people can send messages, watch video, even project augmented reality-like changes...

The television adaptation of The Feed -- based on the novel by Nick Clark Windo -- immediately thrusts viewers into a sci-fi psychological thriller set in a future that feels very real and not at all distant.
Talented veteran actors make up the cast of three-dimensional characters who -- at least in the six episodes available for review -- create solid, believable arcs that posit empathetic flaws into what could very easily have become stereotypical villains types.
While stereotypical villains can be a guilty delight to watch, The Feed takes the psychological intricacies of well-intended beings doing what they feel in their hearts is right, and pushes them through ill-fated journeys of what is perceived as selfishness and greed.
Modern technology is scary; we all know glitches and hackings can be detrimental to corporate and individual security.

"I'm hearing things, I'm seeing things..." Vertical has unveiled the trailer for the Jacob's Ladder remake that has been in the works for a few years. This was pulled from the release schedule, but they've decided to drop it in August out of nowhere - which isn't a good sign. And once you see this trailer you'll know exactly why they're just dumping it before the fall movie season arrives. This is a remake of the 1990 horror film also titled Jacob's Ladder, and the title is a reference to a "biblical ladder to heaven, mentioned in Genesis 28:12." After returning from Afghanistan, veteran Jacob Singer struggles to maintain his sanity. Plagued by hallucinations and flashbacks, Singer rapidly falls apart as his world and the people around him morph and twist into disturbing images. This stars Michael Ealy, with Jesse Williams, Nicole Beharie, Joseph Sikora, Karla Souza, and Guy Burnet. This...
