The Black Keys recently embarked on their European tour, and upon arriving in London for the first of three nights at the O2 Academy Brixton, the duo were joined onstage by Noel Gallagher, one of the collaborators on their new album Ohio Players.
The former Oasis guitarist appears on three tracks on the Black Keys’ guest-heavy LP, and during the encore at Tuesday’s show, came out to perform two of those tracks with the band live for the first time: “Only Love Matters” and “On the Game.”

Deltron 3030 — the groundbreaking hip-hop trio of Del the Funky Homosapien, Dan the Automator, and Kid Koala — are set to reunite on September 8th for a show in Denver, Colorado with Wu-Tang Clan and Run the Jewels.
To date, Deltron 3030 have released just two albums: their 2000 self-titled debut and 2013’s Event 2. Since then, each member of the group has carved out their own path as a solo artist, but they have performed together as recently as 2020.
Tickets for the reunion show go on sale Friday, April 28th at 10:00 a.m. local time via Axs.
In a recent interview with Rock the Bells, Del the Funky Homosapien teased that there could be new Deltron 3030 music on the horizon. “I’m thinking about it,” he said about a new album. “We’re basically living in the future. I would just try to work on making it more whimsical this time, not as heavy.

David Choe, the star of Netflix’s new hit series “Beef,” is an artist and an actor. But his performance in the series isn’t what has people talking — it’s an admission he made back in 2014 detailing how he sexually assaulted a masseuse, which he later said he made up and called “bad storytelling.” Critics have labeled him a rapist and have called for a boycott of the show.
Here’s everything to know about David Choe.
Who is David Choe?
Born in Los Angeles on April 21, 1976, Choe spent most of his upbringing raised by his Korean immigrant parents in the Koreatown neighborhood. During his teens, he became a spray paint artist, which ultimately led to his full-scale career as a painter, mural artist and art creative. After a short stint attending California College of the Arts and Crafts in Oakland, he went on to self-publish a graphic novel called “Slow Jams,...

Founded by Stumpf in 2013 with funding from Aronson Media Ventures, Goldman Sachs and advisors Sword, Rowe & Company, Atlas boasts a songwriter stable that includes hip hop producer Dan the Automator.

Stand at attention, ladies and gentlemen. Believe the hype. Actress turned filmmaker Olivia Wilde is here to dominate Hollywood with her directorial debut. Opening this week, after a much heralded debut at SXSW, Booksmart is not just the funniest movie of 2019, it’s the best overall too. Wilde and company make magic with a premise that could have seemed utterly rote. Instead, it’s fresh, lively, and full of spirit that delights from start to finish. The comedy, the relationship building, the character work, it’s all top notch. Seeing is believing here. However wonderful you think this flick is, I can assure you that it’s even better than that. The film is high school coming of age comedy, which admittedly has been done to death. Here, however, it’s given a female spin, while also being imbued with some real intelligence. Throughout high school Molly (Beanie Feldstein) and...

If you've watched Mary Elizabeth Winstead in "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" or "Smashed," you know that the 29-year-old can act. But, did you know that she could sing too? Read More: Mary Elizabeth Winstead Discusses Why She Took on 'Smashed': "I wasn't feeling good about what I was doing." In collaboration with hip-hop producer Dan the Automator, Winstead has just released the music video for her single "Did We Live Too Fast." The duo (similar to actress Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward) go by the name Got a Girl. Winstead has done some singing in the past, most noticeably in Quentin Tarantino's 2007 film "Death Proof." In the black-and-white video we see Winstead playing a 60s housewife character who is in a contentious relationship with who we presume is her husband. It's a sexy, retro track, something that we could see Matthew Weiner ending one of his "Mad Men" episodes with.

Following in the relatively recent footsteps of Scarlett Johnasson and Zooey Deschanel, Mary Elizabeth Winstead has moved into the music world as part of the duo Got a Girl alongside celebrated hip-hop producer Dan the Automator. The twosome recently released their single and a black-and-white Winstead-starring (obviously) music video to go along with it. Not only is the song itself very retro-leaning, but the video for “Did We Live Too Fast” doubles down on the '60s vibe with the actress wearing costumes that wouldn’t look out of place on Megan Draper in “Mad Men.” Got a Girl’s debut album, I Love You But I Must Drive Off This Cliff Now, will be out on July 22nd. Watch the video below. On the other end of the spectrum, “Palo Alto” director Gia Coppola has reunited with Dev Hynes—who, along with Robert Schwartzman, created the terrific synth-laden score...

As part of our look at a century of Indian cinema, here are some of our all-time favourite classic film soundtracks
Barsaat (1949)
Tragic love story Barsaat (Rain) was 25-year-old actor Raj Kapoor's first hit as a director and launched Bollywood's greatest playback singer Lata "Nightingale of India" Mangeshkar (who went on to record thousands of film songs over a career spanning seven decades and counting). Kapoor may have made finer films (Awaara, Shree 420), but Barsaat's songs (marking the debut of music directors, Shankar Jaikishan) of vulnerability, innocence and heartache, captured newly independent India's fragile imagination. Many consider Barsaat to have the greatest film songs of all time.
Pakeezah (1972)
Pakeezah (Pure) is the story of a courtesan, or a wronged woman with a good heart, in the Mughal era. Lata is on playback duties for heroine Meena Kumari (who died just after its release) and the combination of real-life...

Endearing, invested, and exceptional in her recent roles in “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World,” James Ponsoldt’s “Smashed,” and “The Spectacular Now,” actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead has devoted some time on the side toward a musical outlet even as her star's been rising of late, and not without fine company. She and hip-hop producer Dan The Automator put together a band a year ago, Got A Girl, made a Twitter account just two days ago, and, just as quickly, have uploaded their first official track for the world to see. The duo have just released their single, “You And Me” online, and it certainly fits in with the inspirations that Winstead previously cited: “French 60’s pop, Jane Birkin… married with Dan’s sensibility, which is his beats and a little bit of that low-key hip-hop vibe.” The project was first announced about a year ago, and came into being when...

Dan the Automator has made his way through a number of blog-friendly outfits (Deltron 3030, Handsome Boy Modeling School) and handled production for the Gorillaz, which is to say that our ears perked up when we heard about his new project. Pillowfight, a collaboration with hip-hop violinist Emily Wells, came about when Kid Koala (who's also in the new group) and Emily were paired up at "an artist workshop at a Canadian music festival."

The history of movie stars becoming rock stars is just as unfortunate as the history of rock stars becoming movie stars, as anyone who's heard Bruce Willis' blues-rock or Steven Seagal's country record can attest to. But just as Justin Timberlake has become one of the rare figures to bridge the divide from the recording world, stars Scarlett Johansson and Zooey Deschanel have found some success collaborating with established artists like Dave Sitek and M. I’ve been a Hip Hop fan since the early 80s when the likes of Double D and Steinski were around. They pioneered the instrumental cut and paste Hip Hop style with the legendary ‘Lesson’ series of tracks. Years later these were carried on by DJ Shadow and Jurassic 5’s Cut Chemist. However, instrumental Hip Hop has always been the less limelight-hungry member of the Hip Hop family, being comfortable with allowing its Lyric filled brother to take all the attention. I’m not sure if this is because the A&Rs were unsure how to market it or if the whole sample copyright situation just made these songs economically unviable. Whatever the reason, instrumental Hip Hop became more left field and underground than its mainstream brother.
To a certain extent this is a good thing. However, what it does mean is that anyone attempting...

Great neo-soul balances bump against drift—rhythmic pulse vs. coasting ambiance—and even when things get weird, it is beholden to that almighty groove. But Purple Naked Ladies, the debut album by Odd Future R&B spin-off The Internet, sounds like it’s running diagonally over the works. A woozy swirl of exotica, elevator music, Soulquarian psych, and Sade, the record is a mess—sometimes lovely, but a mess all the same. Beat-anchored reveries like “The Garden” and “Web Of Me,” whose surging density recalls Dan The Automator’s best electronic blues, get the mix right, with Syd Tha Kyd ...

There are few notable artists that keep as busy as Damon Albarn. The mastermind behind trip poppers Gorillaz and English rockers Blur has revealed plans for a new album that will be recorded entirely in the Democratic Republic of Congo over just a one week period.
With Gorillaz on hiatus, Albarn has enlisted a slew of artists for the project, including some of the usual suspects: London DJ Darren Cunningham, old Gorillaz chum/production genius Dan the Automator, and Xl label boss Richard Russell, who produced the late Gil Scott-Heron’s critically acclaimed final album. The effort is being recorded to benefit Oxfam’s long-time work in the Congo. Other expected contributors include Marc Antoine, Jo Gunton, Jneiro Jarel, Kwes and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.
This will be Albarn’s second experience producing an album for Oxfam. He created a collaborative album with local artists of Mali in 2001, Mali Music.

We’ve been longing for a new Modest Mouse record for a while now, and it appears our cries have been answered through Twitter (truly the the hotspot for collaboration reveals these days.) Sir Lucious Left Foot himself — aka Big Boi of OutKast — is keeping this fad alive by tweeting about his trip to the studio of the indie icons:
"Been camped out in the Lab with Modest Mouse all week, workin on the new mouse LP, coolest cats ever. Long Live the Funk."
Long live the funk, indeed! That’s all the evidence we have for now (not even a Twitpic, Daddy Fat Sax?!?), but any of sign of a new Modest Mouse record is well-received by us. And while this collaboration may sound pretty out there to some music fans, rap/rock collabos of the Wtf-nature are abundant in years past. Here’s four that...

This is interview part two with the makers of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. If you missed the first part with Michael Cera & Anna Kendrick you can check it out here.
Interviewed: Edgar Wright and Brandon Routh
Did you have any inspiration for the opening titles of the film?
EW: Yeah. The first cut of the film we didn’t have opening titles, the titles were all at the end. If you permit me to name drop, Quentin Tarantino watched the film and his only note that he had, his only big note, is he said, “You should have the titles at the start”. Because, I think he said, “Let the audience settle in.” Because originally it started with Brian LeBarton playing the solo title and then it went straight to the film and if you’re sitting down it’s kind of like you need a little second to catch your breath.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World week is finally here! Spinner has kindly allowed both the score and the soundtrack to Edgar Wright‘s latest to stream in its entirety. The original score by Nigel Godrich is just beautiful, as it is seamlessly infested with videogame influences. He also had some help by Beck Hansen, Cornelius, Dan Nakamura, Kid Koala, David Campbell, Danny Goffey, Gaz Coombes, Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, Joey Waronker, and Gus Seyffert. As for the soundtrack is is completely rockin’ and definitely worth a listen (and many more).
You can stream everything right here or purchase the two sets on Amazon: Original Soundtrack and Original Score.
Original Soundtrack
01. Beck (as Sex Bob-omb) – We Are Sex Bob-omb
02. Plumtree – Scott Pilgrim
03. Frank Black – I Heard Ramona Sing
04. Beachwood Sparks – By Your Side
05. Black Lips – O Katrina!
06. Broken Social Scene (as Crash and the Boys) – I’m So Sad, So Very,...
