All Andrea wants this year for Christmas is a little peace. And after being the target of harassment for the last year, she deserves it. The teenage protagonist at the heart of the 1993 book Slay Ride can’t even ride the bus to school without being made the subject of lewd jokes and unfounded rumors. Her life is hell and no one wants to help her. The situation only changes when Andrea gains an ally. Someone goes to great lengths to help Andrea with her bullies, but at some point she starts to wonder if maybe her “Guardian Angel” has gone too far.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Lucifer Season 6 Episode 3 “Yabba Dabba Do Me.”] Lucifer (Tom Ellis) is still on a quest to prove he can be God, and in “Yabba Dabba Do Me,” he finally seems to figure it all out… just before his entire world is upended. Sure, he started caring about Carol Corbett (Scott Porter). But sort of off Dr. Linda Martin’s (Rachael Harris) suggestion, Lucifer decides to help someone with whom there’s no chance of that happening again: the first criminal he and Chloe Decker (Lauren German) caught together, Jimmy Barnes, who killed the devil’s friend. He may be dead, but that makes it “almost easier,” Lucifer admits. He can just pop down to hell. Chloe insists on joining him; Amenadiel’s (D.B. Woodside) necklace makes her incredibly strong, so it’ll help her survive a trip to hell. Once down there, she spots Lucifer’s throne (“it looks so...

Australian rocker Jimmy Barnes and his band Cold Chisel have joined with Foodbank to help those in need.
The band, who have just released their excellent new album Blood Moon, recently visited Foodbank in Nsw and helped pack hundreds of Christmas hampers. Foodbank have said they need at least 12,000 hampers this year, with their resources stretched by devastating droughts and fires in the country.
“There’s too many people in Australia going hungry, especially at a time when the Government is slashing funding to places like Foodbank,” said Jimmy Barnes. "The other great thing about this, particularly the fresh food, is if it doesn’t end up here it ends up in landfill and causes a whole other set of problems. I hate the waste of it.
“It’s sad that something like this has to exist because there are so many people in this country going hungry but that’s a fact.

While Australian feature documentaries are punching above their weight at home and internationally, leading filmmakers say the sector is facing several daunting challenges.
Some are critical of Screen Australia’s continued funding of TV programs based on overseas formats. Others lament the lack of support for one-off docs from Sbs and the ABC.
And there is widespread dissatisfaction with the federal government’s inaction over imposing local content quota obligations on streaming services.
“Despite the digital era presenting new opportunities, most of us working in the sector are facing a grim and uncertain future,” veteran filmmaker Tom Zubrycki tells If.
“Fashioning a career from making documentaries has never been easy. As one colleague commented: ‘We are awaiting the new dawn, it’s not there yet.’”

The good news for Australian cinema: Last year ranks as the third biggest ever for Oz films and feature docs released theatrically in the home market.
Another encouraging trend: Eight of the top 30 grossing titles were feature docs, led by Paul Damien Williams’ Gurrumul, Mark Joffe’s Jimmy Barnes: Working Class Boy, Ray Argall’s Midnight Oil 1984, Naina Sen’s The Song Keepers and Catherine Scott’s Backtrack Boys.
The not-so-good news: The top two films, Will Gluck’s Peter Rabbit and Bruce Beresford’s Ladies in Black accounted for nearly 70 per cent of total revenues, while 39 of the 61 new releases each made less than $100,000.
Collectively, local titles including holdovers racked up $57.4 million in 2018, trailing the 2001 total of $63.1 million, according to the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia (Mpdaa)

‘Ladies in Black.’
As the Australian feature films and feature docs released in cinemas this year have surpassed the calendar 2017 total exhibitors generally are happy with the diversity of product and the number of titles that have resonated with mainstream audiences.
While some say there have been too many niche and small-scale films, the consensus is that local films overall have held their own in a fragmented theatrical market and in the face of competition for eyeballs from the burgeoning Netflix and Stan.
Their outlook for 2019 is even more optimistic – if distributors and exhibitors are smart with their dating.
Through Wednesday, Oz films and feature docs including holdovers have racked up $54.2 million, according to the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia (Mpdaa), beating last year’s $49.4 million, which was a market share of 4.1 per cent.

‘Ladies in Black.’
The Australian titles released in cinemas this year including holdovers will overtake the calendar 2017 total in the next week or so, boosted by Bruce Beresford’s Ladies in Black.
Through the end of September the Oz films and feature docs had grossed $47.8 million, according to the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia (Mpdaa), within spitting distance of last year’s $49.4 million.
After a second weekend drop of just 10 per cent Ladies in Black’s takings have increased by nearly $800,000 to $5.97 million, including $361,000 on Tuesday, so the 1950s-set comedy-drama distributed by Sony is on course to surpass $12 million.
Distributed by Universal Pictures as an alternate content release, Mark Joffe’s biopic Jimmy Barnes: Working Class Boy rang up $823,000, ranking as the year’s second biggest feature doc behind Paul Damian Williams’ Gurrumul, which made $984,000.

Fast food giant KFC has revealed its summer campaign will centre on a partnership with the Madden Brothers. The “Good Times” campaign took six months to create and launched last night with a live performance by the Maddens and Jimmy Barnes.
The campaign will roll out across social media and PR with a Tvc component, and will invite Australians to share what they believe makes life in Australia so good. The culmination of the campaign will be a song recorded by the Maddens – both of whom are members of Good Charlotte – and inspired by the images and quotes shared by the public on the KFC Good Times app.
The song will be performed live for the first time at the KFC branded International Twenty20 cricket match at Anz Stadium on Australia Day and will be available to KFC Facebook fans as an exclusive download before going on sale to the general public.

The results of one of the most detailed pieces of research conducted on how the public feels about a range of more than 700 Australian celebrities and sports stars will be unveiled at Mumbrella360.
The Encore Score conducted research into public attitudes to 738 personalities, charting how widely recognised they are, and how positively or negatively they are perceived.
The project is similar to the Q Score research which takes place in the Us and was previously conducted in Australia, although the methodology for calculating the score takes a different approach.
A total of 2,650 respondents completed the survey. The online survey of the public was conducted by Pure Profile, while analysis and processing has been carried out by research house The Acid Test.
Research such as the Encore Score is one tool that TV programmers, advertising agencies, brands and PRs use when hiring talent and selecting ambassadors.

Cold Chisel keyboard player Don Walker has revealed that he felt very emotional when he heard late bandmate Steve Prestwich's recording of a new song after his death last year. Shortly before he passed away last January two weeks after being diagnosed with a brain tumour, Prestwich recorded himself singing a track he wrote called 'I Got Things to Do' as a guide vocal for frontman Jimmy Barnes. Walker told the Courier-Mail that he and bandmates Barnes, Ian Moss and Phil Small were shocked and moved when they heard his voice for the first time. He said: "In retrospect it's no surprise that Steve would have laid down a guide vocal. When he presented songs and we did demos of them, he sang most of them as a guide for Jim or Ian to learn the song. "We forgot all about that and sent the track over to [Us-based...

Jimmy Barnes has revealed that it was hard for him to find something "good" out of the death of his Cold Chisel bandmate Steve Prestwich. The Aussie band were planning a comeback album when drummer Prestwich passed away after surgery to remove a brain tumour in 2011. Barnes told The Daily Telegraph: "How do you find something good out of a friend of 40 years dying? "I think the best thing we could take from it was that it took Steve's death to realise we're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time. Let's enjoy each other's playing, let's do it as much as we can." > Cold Chisel to release first new album in 14 years Bandmate Don Walker also said of their reunion Light the Nitro tour last year: "That was a dream tour, as far as coming out the end of it with everybody (more)...

Steve Prestwich, who was the drummer for Aussie rock legends Cold Chisel, has passed away at the age of 56. He was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor, but was unable to regain consciousness following surgery.

Cold Chisel was formed in 1973, initially as an early metal group performing covers of Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin.
