The 2010 Bet Awards had several memorable moments, including a diva-packed tribute to lifetime-achievement honoree Prince, a pregnant Alicia Keys rocking out harder than ever and comebacks from Kanye West, Chris Brown and El DeBarge.
However, viewers have been abuzz since Sunday's live broadcast about a moment that was noticeably absent from the show: a tribute honoring late lyricist Guru. A Bet higher-up, however, has insisted that the lack of recognition for the Gang Starr Mc, who succumbed to cancer earlier this year, was not an oversight but rather the product of a technical snafu.
"It was nothing more than a technical glitch," said Bet Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Music Programming Stephen Hill, who was involved in staging the show, according to AllHipHop.com.

Controversy surrounding Chris Brown's breakdown performance at Bet Awards won't go away easily despite the fact that his representative and A-list pals have come to his support. And the latest to comment on this issue was Bet's Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Music Programming Stephen Hill.
In an interview with AllHipHop, Hill slammed recent report mentioning Brown used eye drops to fake his cry. "I think the pressure of the year and the lyrics of that song really just resonated. And, as someone who was backstage, there was nothing fake about that," the network's showrunner said. "Story today about like his bodyguard gave him something to induce tears. It's just not true."
He shared his insight more, "I've been around actors who cry and when you fake cry, you don't get...your throat doesn't get swollen like it does [when you cry for real]. When he was trying to sing, he couldn't get anything out.

Kanye West and Nicki Minaj have joined forces in a song for West's upcoming studio album. Confirming the news is Bet's Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Music Programming Stephen Hill. "He's got a track with Nicki Minaj that's so dope," he opened up to Rap-Up after attending invitation-only listening party for the new effort. "You won't believe it when you hear it."
Four songs from the album have been unveiled during the event. Although Hill hasn't heard all the content in the tentatively-titled "Good Ass Job", he's adamant that it's West's "unapologetic" comeback. "It's less like 808's & Heartbreak and more like Graduation," he further described.
The first single from the album is an "angry" song called "Power" which features Dwele. Showcased live at Bet Awards on June 27, it contains lyrics which slammed "Saturday Night Live" cast and other people who dissed him following his infamous stage crash at 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

The artist who will forever be known as Prince took the stage on Sunday (June 27) to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award during the 10th annual Bet Awards. "I was pretty wild in my younger days," the honoree said.
Bet's award presentation for Prince united generations and musical styles. Janelle Monae opened the tribute with an energetic cover of "Let's Go Crazy," a song that hit big a year before the 25-year-old was born. Next Up: jazz bassist Esperanza Spalding, strumming a custom electric upright bass, sang "If I Was Your Girlfriend." She was followed by five-months-pregnant Alicia Keys, who played the piano then climbed atop it to provocatively belt out "Adore." R&B diva Patti Labelle closed out with...
