- Universal Hall Pass is the music of Melissa R. Kaplan, former singer/songwriter/front-person of Boston's popular electronic pop outfit Splashdown. Her new project throws the same curve balls of unique genre hopping songs, one of the many elements that quickly launched her first project into television and motion pictures and gained a devoted following. Signed early on to Capitol Records with her previous project Splashdown, Melissa has worked with producers Glen Ballard, Bryan Carrigan and Anthony J. Resta. Melissa's musical influences are broad ranging, from jazz, electronic, to Bulgarian and the music of the Middle - East. Her voice has been in motion picture soundtracks, (Titan A.E., The Red Planet, K-PAX, Mr. Woodcock, The Ex, 88 Minutes, among others) and video games like Sony's Playstation 2 games Amplitude and Frequency, Ubisoft/ Xbox games, Assassin's Creed, and Kane and Lynch: Dead Men. In addition, Melissa has had her music placed in the hit WB Network shows Charmed and Angel and sang for Showtime's "Master's of Horror" theme which won an Emmy for outstanding original main title music for a television show in 2006. Most recently UHP's "Dragonfly Remix" was included as one of seven songs on Harmonix/MTV's new iPod game, Phase.
Melissa has toured all over the United States and Canada as front woman for Splashdown including performances on the East Coast 1999 Lilith Fair Tour. She has had the pleasure of opening for acts such as Crystal Method, Moby, Lamb, Lords of Acid and the Church.
Melissa continues to write and record and has released an EP "Subtle Things", for her solo/collaborative project Universal Hall Pass (UHP) as a follow up to her debut album, "Mercury" and can still be heard singing on film soundtracks, video games, and television themes.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Emma
