Mark Ruffalo, who replaced Edward Norton by taking over as Hulk in the MCU, has been very candid about the recasting of the Marvel superhero. Norton starred in the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk. However, the studio decided to recast the character for future projects reportedly due to creative differences with Norton, alleging that they sought an actor who could blend well with The Avengers ensemble cast.

And the studio decided to move ahead with Ruffalo, who made his MCU debut with the 2012 film. However, after landing the role, he did reach out to the Fight Club star to discuss the transition and shared that Norton offered his full support for his future in the superhero franchise.

Uberto Pasolini, who wrote and directed the James Norton-starring Nowhere Special that opened this weekend, says, rightfully, the film’s power emanates from the tangible bond you feel between father and son. Norton – the BAFTA-nominated British actor (Bob Marley: One Love, Little Women, Happy Valley) – is John a 35-year old window washer and single father to four-year old Michael (BIFA-nominated Daniel Lamot). John has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and is on a quest to place his son in a loving home.
Norton “understood that the film lived or died — would have lived or died — on the relationship and on the connection between the two. And so he came over to Belfast before we started shooting and spent an enormous amount of time with the family, with the boy himself. Sitting down on the floor of Daniel’s room and playing with his toys and going out for chicken nuggets,...

The six Avengers that assembled to fight Loki’s invasion in the first Avengers film have become some of the most iconic characters of modern Hollywood. The actors who essayed the roles of the original six Avengers have become a big part of the MCU, and it is difficult to imagine anyone else taking up the mantle of the characters (despite one of them being recast between their solo film and The Avengers.)

Mark Ruffalo took up the role of Bruce Banner, the mild-mannered scientist who transforms into the raging monster, The Hulk, who is a core member of the Avengers. There’s a nice trio of specialty films to highlight this weekend from Joanna Arnow, Uberto Pasolini and Caitlin Cronenberg’s feature directorial debut.
Joanna Arnow’s micro-budget comedy The Feeling That The Time For Doing Something Has Passed world premiered in Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight. It follows a thirtysomething New York woman as time passes in her long-term casual Bdsm relationship, low-level corporate job, and quarrelsome Jewish family. Arnow writes, directs and stars. And that’s Bdsm, as in bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism.
The helmer is thrilled to see her feature (after 2017’s i hate myself :), and a handful of well-received shorts) launch a theatrical run, with Magnolia distributing. “That’s how I dream of my movies being seen,” Arnow tells Deadline. “It’s also so important to see comedies (on the big screen) Shared laughter with strangers is quite beautiful and healing in a way.

Every week there are large numbers of indie and specialty releases vying for attention. It’s impossible to do them all, so when the option of reviewing Nowhere Special was placed in front of me I resisted at first after discovering it actually premiered at the 2020 Venice Film Festival. That’s right, four years ago. I had to wonder what could possibly be good about a film delayed for that long in terms of getting a U.S. release date? Finally caving in to the persistent requests by the distributor and its passionate PR team, I decided to check it out.
What I discovered was not that this was some sort of troubled film, not even close. Instead I found a spare but moving drama, powered by a remarkable lead performance, that is all about life and death and all things in between. At its heart it is also an...

Uberto Pasolini’s “Nowhere Special” is delicately tinted by profound shades of imminent grief. As a 35-year-old, terminally ill single father in Northern Ireland, John (a quietly powerful James Norton) grieves his impending demise and the inevitable fact that he will vacate his four-year-old son Michael’s (Daniel Lamont) life permanently and prematurely. A Belfast window washer, John sees the reflections of his grief everywhere as he scrubs and shines surface after surface. In one scene, it’s the headstones on display in the window of a funeral parlor. In another, it’s a dad happily picking up his baby inside a restaurant. That’s just John’s every day on the other side of a glass facade, with stark glimpses into what’s coming and what he will soon lose.
Meanwhile, his often silent and always observant toddler Michael deals with his own share of grief, at an age...

There’s not a lot of time left, but the adoption agency working with John (James Norton) is doing their best to maintain his belief that they will find the right place for his four-year-old son Michael (Daniel Lamont). Why is it so important? Because John isn’t simply leaving the boy behind. He’s dying of a terminal disease. And with Michael’s mother already having left him at six months old, the last thing John wants is to leave him alone. This is therefore as much a gift for the child as it is for the father. To give Michael a home means giving him the chance at a life John never had himself as well as a necessary peace of mind for him to eventually let go.

Olivia Walton would never. The Waltons star Michael Learned recently reunited with her onscreen daughter Judy Norton for a cooking lesson and a chat about their time on the classic CBS drama. After playing Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk, Edward Norton had a pretty public falling out with Marvel Studios over the final cut of the movie and was replaced by Mark Ruffalo for all subsequent appearances in the MCU.
The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier recently sat down with Josh Horowitz for Watchalong, a Happy Sad Confused spin-off in which Horowitz watches an entire movie alongside a filmmaker. During the watch, Leterrier shed a few more details on Edward Norton’s premature exit from the franchise, and he believes issues about the soundtrack may have played a part.
“Frankly, it’s maybe [because of the soundtrack],” Leterrier said. “I don’t remember if it was the teaser or the overall soundtrack, but Edward is great friends with Thom Yorke and he wanted Radiohead to do the music and that was genius, but we know what Radiohead sounds like and I think Marvel was pushing...

Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed on “The Graham Norton Show” that he once hired an accent removal coach to try and do away with his thick Austrian accent for good. Aside from his jacked muscles, the action star’s accent is his most definitive quality as a performer.
“I had an English coach and an acting coach and a speech coach and an accent-removal coach, who has passed away since then, but I should have otherwise gotten my money back,” Schwarzenegger said while looking back on his early days trying to make it big in the industry. “The bottom line is, I worked on it. I remember he’d say, ‘You know you always say s-ree. It’s three, with a T-h.’ So he had me say, ‘Three thousand three hundred and thirty-three and one-third,’ with the T-h and not with the S.”

It can sound pretentious, but art really can truly be interpreted in any way by the viewer. In some cases, there are villains in movies that can win over audiences if they’re written well enough or performed well enough. Michael Douglas once expressed his frustration over some people taking to his Wall Street character, Gordon Gecko, even though it was intended that he was the antagonist. Al Pacino’s Scarface is seen by some as sort of a folk, anti-hero as Tony Montana came from the gutter and became a powerful figure with an unbreakable spirit. And now, David Fincher is being asked by The Guardian about his feelings of disenfranchised extremists holding his Fight Club film to high regard with its anti-establishment theme.

David Fincher's 1999 film "Fight Club" may be one of the most widely misinterpreted films of all time.
"Fight Club" follows a nameless office wonk (Edward Norton) who finds that modern life is sapping him of his passions and forcing him to become a mindless consumer. He eventually achieves catharsis in under the tutelage of the ultra-cool Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), a devil-may-care soap salesman who espouses an ultra-masculine philosophy of strength through personal violence. He and the Norton character begin hosting underground bare-knuckle fight clubs with other equally pathetic men seeking to assert their masculinity. A lot of knuckles are skinned, eyes damaged, and bruises inflicted.
Eventually, Tyler has formed a cult of put-upon middle-class white service workers who begin tainting customers' food and committing city-wide acts of vandalism as a form of punk rock defiance. But then, a line is crossed. Tyler's cult turns to military-like tactics and bomb-making.

David Fincher was recently asked by The Guardian about how his 1999 directorial effort “Fight Club” has become a favorite amongst incels and far-right groups for depicting disenfranchised white men coming together to rally against capitalist society. The director distanced himself from such a topic, telling the publication, “I’m not responsible for how people interpret things…Language evolves. Symbols evolve.”
“Ok, fine,” Fincher replied when the Guardian writer said “Fight Club” has become a touchstone for the far right. “It’s one of many touchstones in their lexicography.” Is the director bothered by that? “We didn’t make it for them, but people will see what they’re going to see in a Norman Rockwell painting, or [Picasso’s] Guernica,” he reasoned, reiterating that he’s not responsible for how people interpret his work.

The scene where 2012’s The Bourne Legacy first comes truly alive features neither parkour or car chases; it also lacks fisticuffs or a single gunshot; heck, it doesn’t even have Matt Damon. To be sure, the fourth (and generally ignored) film in the Jason Bourne franchise has its fair share of death-defying stunts and white-knuckle action. However, the movie really clicks to life when a coterie of bureaucrats gather inside a windowless room, sharing hushed whispers.
The scene is dominated by who was intended to be the series’ new big heavy, Col. Eric Bryer (Edward Norton), who is revealed to be the Director of the National Research Assay Group. This is essentially a fictional version of Darpa, the research and development agency that operates within the the U.S. Department of Defense and is responsible for developing emerging technologies for military use. Graham Norton has informed fans that his Twitter account has been hacked.
The chat show host and novelist, who came off the platform in late 2022, shared the warning on his Instagram account on Monday (3 April), writing: “I’ve just been told someone has reactivated my Twitter account. I’m now locked out of it.
“My worry is that whoever has access may try sending DMs asking for money or donations. Please spread the word that it is Not me even though it still has a blue tick.”
Norton has 1.4 million followers on Twitter. His bio reads “Chatting slowly towards the grave. White wine please!” but he has no profile picture.
In October, there was speculation that Norton came off Twitter after a clip of him talking about “cancel culture” and Jk Rowling went viral.

Does writer Scott Z. Burns have a crystal ball? The acclaimed writer foreshadowed Covid-19 in his 2011 “Contagion,” the Steven Soderbergh thriller about a highly contagious virus that becomes a worldwide pandemic. And now he’s warning the world about climate change in “Extrapolations,” Apple TV +’s eight-part anthology series with an all-star cast led by Meryl Streep, Ed Norton, Kit Harrington, Sienna Miller and Daveed Diggs.
Michele Norris, an opinion writer at the Washington and longtime friend of Burns, recently discussed the series over Zoom with the writer/creator and Norton.
Burns noted it’s a balancing act to educate audiences while simultaneously entertaining them. “I think I started from a place which is a documentary. It is a bit of a self-sorting organism. That’s changing a little bit; we’ve seen a lot of docs that have been made. Some are really wonderful that try and talk about the risks of climate change.

Actor Edward Norton has always been passionate about his performances, which has often shown through his work.

Los Angeles, March 28 (Ians) Hollywood actress Liv Tyler is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, 16 years after her last appearance.
She will appear in 2024’s ‘Captain America: New World Order’ reprising her role from 2008’s ‘The Incredible Hulk’ as scientist Betty Ross, the daughter of General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, reports ‘Variety’.
That role was originated by the late William Hurt, who reappeared several times for Marvel Studios, starting with 2016’s ‘Captain America: Civil War’, in which Ross had become Secretary of State. Harrison Ford is stepping into the role of Thaddeus Ross for ‘New World Order’, in which the character has become President of the United States.
‘Variety’ further states that in ‘The Incredible Hulk’, Tyler’s Betty Ross was the love interest for Edward Norton’s Bruce Banner; after Norton was replaced by Mark Ruffalo, Tyler’s character was mentioned in passing, but the actor had not returned in the role.
