Survivor contestants are saying see ya to a bit of prize money from pop singer/songwriter Sia.
Just two days after Survivor’s 46th season ended, host Jeff Probst announced that the Sia Prize has come to an end. Sia will no longer award money to her favorite players every season.
On May 24, Probst announced the end of her largesse on Instagram. Sia reposted it.
“After eight years, 14 seasons, 19 players, and over $1,000,000 awarded, Survivor is officially bringing the Sia Prize to a triumphant end!”
Sia reposted Probst’s statement on her Instagram Story, adding animated hearts.
“Over the many years, Sia has brought so much joy to so many players and it was always straight from her heart,” Probst said.

Here is what Jeff Probst said is ending on Survivor after players won an extra million dollars in prize money.

Sia will no longer dispense cash bonuses to her favorite “Survivor” players, CBS reality competition host Jeff Probst announced Friday on Instagram.
“It’s the end of one of the most unique eras in the history of ‘Survivor,’” Probst posted to his Instagram story. “After eight years, 14 seasons, 19 players and over $1,000,000 awarded, ‘Survivor’ is officially bringing the Sia Prize to a triumphant end!”
The “Chandelier” singer began her random, ultra-generous donations eight years ago at the “Survivor: Kaoh Rong” live reunion. She joined third-place finisher Tai Trang on stage and told him she was going to give him $50,000, plus another $50,000 to the charity of his choice.
“She was so taken by Tai’s commitment to protecting a chicken from being eaten that she awarded him $50,000 of her own money,” Probst recalled. Sia is a vegan. “Tai was shocked, the audience was shocked, I was shocked! What was happening? Sia was...

Geo Bustamante couldn’t have been more excited to have secured himself the Knowledge Is Power advantage on “Survivor 43,” despite what he already (sorta) knew to be true: it’s a curse! Upon getting the advantage in Episode 5 he said, “This is what I came here for! I came to ‘Survivor’ to get an idol or to get an advantage. I’ve never seen anybody use the Knowledge Is Power successfully, but it’s a very powerful tool.” He went on to say he’d save it because he was certain he wouldn’t be voted out that night. Less than 15 minutes later, Geo was the fifth person voted out of the game.
With Geo’s finding of the advantage and subsequent elimination, he became the third of three players to hold the Knowledge Is Power advantage and not use it successfully. For Geo, finding the advantage wasn’t the curse,...

With “Survivor 43” returning to our screens this fall, we wanted to know what you think about the advantages, twists and challenges currently at play in “Survivor” and which, if any, should stick around for the upcoming season. Both season 41 and 42 broke new ground for the 20+ year old reality TV staple by upending the expectations of the players. In the post-pandemic iterations of the show, Jeff Probst revealed new aspects to a game the players thought they knew. We asked you to vote on your favorites in a recent poll and you spoke loud and clear that the Knowledge Is Power advantage and the Shot in the Dark opportunity are the two you most want to see return in season 43.

Few TV shows make it to Season 43. For every “60 Minutes” (54 seasons) and “Saturday Night Live” (47 seasons), there are hundreds, if not thousands, of television programs that are canceled or ended before they even make it to double digits. But “Survivor” just keeps going. Now the granddaddy of all reality TV shows is gearing up for its 43rd season (and 22nd year), due out in Fall 2022, with Jeff Probst back as host and executive producer. The most recent season, “Survivor 42,” was so captivating, it proves why the series deserves to reclaim its time in the Emmy spotlight.

We’re only a few weeks out from the “Survivor 42” finale where Maryanne Oketch clinched the 1 million prize arguably because of her Final Tribal Council revelation that she had kept the only secret in the game truly a secret: her unused hidden immunity idol. Jaws dropped on the jury and the players that may have otherwise been inclined to vote for Mike Turner to win instead chose Maryanne as the “sole Survivor.” Now, as we forward look to “Survivor 43” this fall, we want to know what you think about the advantages, twists and challenges currently at play in “Survivor” and which, if any, should stick around for the upcoming season.

Over the years, “Survivor” viewers have grown accustomed to witnessing a unique treat in each season’s live finale. Self-described superfan Sia would attend the reunion shows in Hollywood and reward her favorite contestants with a special cash prize. Due to the pandemic, the show understandably scrapped all live aspects of its finale and instead opted to pre-tape the winner announcement and reunion on the island. That left fans wondering: what about Sia’s prize money?!

The tribe, er, actually, Sia has spoken. Though Maryanne Oketch took home the 1 million prize on Survivor season 42, the "Cheap Thrills" singer believes Drea Wheeler was the one to really outwit, outplay and outlast her fellow castaways. So, she surprised Drea with a 100,000 check. "You're an amazing woman," Sia told the shocked 35-year-old in a May 31 video shared on the CBS show's Twitter account. "You played the game, like, so smooth and your fire got put out way too early for my liking. And also the way you handled that situation at Tribal was so graceful and I just love you." But Sia wanted to offer Drea more than just kind words. "I want to give...

Three “Survivor” legends — Lauren-Ashley Beck (Season 39), Brice Johnston (Season 28) and Ozzy Lusth — attended a Season 42 finale watch party at Busby’s West on May 25 to see who would became the latest member of the show’s iconic winners list. They were joined by many former castaways (including Season 33 champ Adam Klein and Season 36 winner Wendell Holland), other reality TV show stars, plus dozens of fans who all watched the three-hour episode live on CBS. Gold Derby was on hand to talk with the trio of former players about how the reality TV show has evolved in recent years.
“I feel like for a long time ‘Survivor’ has missed the mark and I feel like it is so great to see the diversity,” Brice told me. He is the first openly gay Black person to play, and now he’s “honored to see the trans representation, the Poc representation, the women representation.

All season long, Gold Derby readers have been making their predictions about who they think will win “Survivor 42,” and things are looking good for Maryanne Oketch to take home the 1 million grand prize. The 24-year-old seminary student from Ajax, Ontario leads our finale racetrack odds at 2/9, far ahead of our second place competitor, Lindsay Dolashewich, who trails at 23/2 odds. If our users are correct that Maryanne will prevail, she would become only the second Black female winner in the show’s 42-season history, following Vecepia Towery in Season 4.
Here are Gold Derby’s “Survivor 42” winner predictions ahead of the May 25 season finale on CBS.
1. Maryanne Oketch — 2/9 odds

Last week’s shocking elimination of Omar Zaheer on “Survivor 42” will reverberate through the tribe and have major implications on the rest of the game as we look ahead to Wednesday’s season finale. Lindsay Dolashewich, Maryanne Oketch, Romeo Escobar, Mike Turner and Jonathan Young each stand a one in five chance of taking home this season’s 1 million cash prize, but to get there they’ll have to maneuver through two more immunity challenges and tribal councils and hope that the jury respects their game enough to be deserving of the win.

Once again, the latest castaway voted out of “Survivor 42” was a power player who had a strong chance of winning the game. Omar Zaheer had orchestrated a number of big moves post-merge, cementing himself as the player to beat in the eyes of many viewers, but Episode 12 saw him on the other end of a big move when Maryanne Oketch orchestrated his demise. There were various targets heading into Tribal Council, but do you think Omar was the right person to take out at the final six? And then there were six. Last week’s elimination of Drea Wheeler on “Survivor 42” meant that only the following half-dozen contestants were eligible to win the 1 million grand prize: Maryanne Oketch, Lindsay Dolashewich, Romeo Escobar, Mike Turner, Omar Zaheer and Jonathan Young. This week, someone will be on the wrong side of the vote. Also, one castaway climbs the stairway to victory and wins immunity at tribal council, on this season’s penultimate episode.

Hey, "Survivor" fans. Tonight, May 18,2022, another new episode of Survivor's current season 42 did indeed hit the air, and we saw another heavy duty, blindside take place at the end. Tonight's episode kicked off with talk about the last tribal council meeting, which sent Drea Wheeler packing with a blindside. Everyone congratulated Lindsay on winning the dreaded "do or die" challenge. Lindsay said she now has an amulet idol since Drea went out. Omar talked about how his plan to get out Drea worked perfectly. He told the private cams his next targets are Mike or Jonathan. Mike told the private cams, "I have to cut Omar. I know he doesn't want me to make it to the end because I'm too likable." Mike campaigned to Maryanne to get Omar out. Maryanne told the private cams that Mike is right about not being able to beat Omar in the end.

“Survivor 42” lost another big contender last week when Drea Wheeler found herself outplayed by her tribemates. Moments after Drea Wheeler exited the game laughing with all of her former competitors, Jeff Probst took a moment to praise the remaining Top 6 players. “I gotta say, just as a viewer, I can’t think of a season where I’ve ever seen this much fierce gameplay and camaraderie,” the host said. “This is the ideal way in my mind for ‘Survivor’ to be played. Because it is just a game. And it is just an adventure. And it’s an experience with people that you’re gonna know forever.” One week earlier, Hai Giang left the game in a similar positive fashion.

“Survivor 42” saw the exit of one of its biggest power players last week when Hai Giang was blindsided by his former allies. The 28-year-old data scientist had been in the majority alliance post-merge, but (former) ally Omar Zaheer orchestrated his demise by telling a lie to Hai’s closest confidant, Mike Turner, which started the ball rolling. While Jonathan Young was the more obvious target due to his physical strength, Omar got his way and Hai was voted out of the game by a decisive 6-2 vote, and fans mostly agree with the move.

In a “Survivor 42” sneak peek video for the Wednesday, May 11 episode, Maryanne Oketch admits she’s having “so much fun” despite her toenail falling off. You read that right. When her fellow Top 7 castaways are sitting around killing time, she announces to the group, “Guys, I just lost my toenail.” The others are speechless at hearing that fact, particularly as Maryanne doesn’t seem to be upset at all. Why? Because apparently she loses her pinky toenails “pretty often,” she confesses. Watch the hilarious video above.

“No, no, no,” Lindsay Dolashewich quickly interjects. “It’s not normal to lose your toenails like that.”

‘Survivor 42’ Top 7 power rankings: Drea Wheeler and Omar Zaheer are best positioned to win the game
Before his epic blindside, Hai Giang was looking very strong in the race to win “Survivor 42.” Now that he’s out, control of the game is truly up for grabs and (mostly) any of the remaining seven castaways have a path to the win. Drea Wheeler could advantage her way to the end or Jonathan Young could win every immunity challenge through to the final three. Maybe the personal connections Omar Zaheer and Mike Turner have made with everyone will actually pay off. Or just maybe Romeo Escobar, Maryanne Oketch and Lindsay Dolashewich can pull off some last minute resume-building tricks to earn points with the jury.

“Survivor 42” viewers are split on the poll results of last week’s highly debated episode. The hour ended with two Tribal Councils, one of them booting Rocksroy Bailey in a blindside and the other taking out Tori Meehan nearly by process of elimination. While fans believed that Rocksroy deserved to be voted out, they were significantly less enthused with Tori’s ouster, believing another castaway should have been sent to the jury instead.

‘Survivor 42’ deleted scene: Jonathan Young reveals he ‘almost passed out’ from lack of food [Watch]
In this week’s “Survivor 42” deleted scene, Jonathan Young reveals he “almost passed out” on the island from a lack of food (watch above). Remember, this year the castaways are not provided with free rice by CBS — instead, they have to earn their sustenance through rewards or other means. The previously unseen moment comes on Day 17 after Jonathan’s group wins a food reward of beef and veggie kebobs. “Food has helped me think way more clear, play the game way harder and enjoy life,” Jonathan says in a confessional. “Because I gotta tell you, for 16 days I was not feeling great. I was getting to the point where I had to slow down from standing up. I almost passed out. But now that I have food, I feel so much better.”

One day after “Survivor” made headlines when two Black women, Maryanne Oketch and Drea Wheeler, openly addressed their feelings on racism and subconscious biases, Maryanne has thanked two of her white castaways for being allies. Lindsay Dolashewich and Tori Meehan “had every right to fight for their safety in the game once both idols were played,” Maryanne wrote on Instagram, “but instead, they chose to take a step back to actively listen to where I was coming from, and [empathize] with the burdens that I experience.” The 24-year-old seminary student from Ontario added that CBS’s reality TV show is at its core a “social game that is a microcosm of society.”
Maryanne’s comments come on the heels of Drea urging “Survivor” fans to “be kind” following the airing of the ninth episode. “I respect everyone’s thoughts and opinions,” Drea tweeted on Thursday morning. “All I ask is that...

“Survivor 42” contestant Tori Meehan received one of the more unique exits in the show’s history in this week’s ninth episode. After the 10 players were divided into groups of five, the teams were instructed to attend separate Tribal Councils, with the order playing a major factor in Tori’s ouster. Tori and the rest of the orange group arrived at the second Tribal of the episode to see that Rocksroy Bailey had been surprisingly booted, which shifted plans so significantly that Tori saw her torch snuffed without a formal vote even taking place. Do you think Tori deserved elimination? Vote in our poll below.

While the first Tribal Council in Episode 9 of “Survivor 42” was decidedly less heightened than the second, it still produced a surprising outcome. After the remaining 10 castaways were divided randomly into two groups of five, with both going to separate Tribal Councils, we saw players on the blue team making a big move. Rather than boot the obvious outsider in Romeo Escobar, the vote was flipped on Rocksroy Bailey due to his inflexibility. But do you think Rocksroy deserved to be voted out? Vote in our poll below.

Drea Wheeler urges ‘Survivor’ fans to ‘be kind’ after episode airs on racism and subconscious biases
Drea Wheeler has a message for “Survivor” fans who have been lashing out on social media following Wednesday’s dramatic tribal council: “Be kind.” She tweeted the message on Thursday morning, no doubt her way of addressing all of the frustrated “Survivor” viewers who didn’t connect with the discussion on racism and subconscious biases in the ninth episode. “I respect everyone’s thoughts and opinions,” Drea said. “All I ask is that you respect my fellow #Survivor 42 family.”

In one of the most powerful tribal councils in the history of “Survivor,” two Black women — Drea Wheeler and Maryanne Oketch — stood up against racism at the end of the April 27 episode. The moment happened after host Jeff Probst split the remaining 10 players of “Survivor 42” into two groups of five. The first group voted out Rocksroy Bailey, making him the second Black person eliminated in a row after Chanelle Howell last week. When the second group entered tribal council, Drea and Maryanne both had strong reactions to seeing Chanelle and Rocksroy on the jury, and it sparked an entire discussion on racism and subconscious biases that went beyond the game.
Heading into tribal, Jonathan Young‘s plan was to boot out Drea because she had a hidden immunity idol (he wasn’t aware she actually had four advantages). But all bets were off after Rocksroy took a seat on the bench.

Chanelle Howell saw her luck run out at the end of Episode 8 of “Survivor 42,” getting the boot from her tribe and becoming the first member of the jury. The 28-year-old executive recruiter had been floundering since her first Tribal Council in the pre-merge, which caused her former allies to drift away from her, and she was never able to find herself in the majority again. She was ultimately voted out by seven of her tribemates, and fans ultimately agree that she was the right person to go.

Tori Meehan makes ‘Survivor’ history by winning first 2 individual immunity challenges of the season
Over the course of the first 21 years and 41 seasons of “Survivor,” only one woman had won the first two individual immunity challenges of her season: Laura Morett in 2009’s “Survivor: Samoa.” Now, her long-standing record has been tied by Tori Meehan, who just claimed back-to-back victories in the first two individual immunity challenges of “Survivor 42.” Talk about girl power!
One caveat in mentioning this record is that Laura’s initial immunity win was actually awarded to the best performing male (John Fincher) and female (Laura) of that specific challenge. Tori didn’t have to share either of her two immunity necklaces, which puts her truly in a league of her own when it comes to making “Survivor” history.

The “Survivor 42” merge has ushered in an exciting new phase of the game. Like the previous season, the controversial hourglass twist was implemented, allowing one player to flip the results of the previous reward challenge and make the winning team vulnerable. Like Erika Casupanan last year, Rocksroy Bailey elected to turn back time and made himself safe at the first merge vote, along with Chanelle Howell, Drea Wheeler, Mike Turner, Omar Zaheer and Romeo Escobar. This limited the pool of potential eliminations, with Lydia Meredith meeting her untimely demise. But do you think she was the right person to be the merge boot? Vote in our poll below.
