Began his art career at an animation studio in Box Hill (Australia) in 1949.
Began working at The Age in 1977, producing a weekly cartoon for more than three decades.
Was the recipient of a Silver Stanley Award by the Australian Cartooning Association in 2001, a Quill Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009 and a Walkley Award in 2016.
He traveled overseas where his work was published in magazines such as The New Yorker and Esquire, before returning to Australia to establish himself as a prominent political cartoonist.
Was a cartoonist for the Australian publications The Age and The Australian.
