In a perfect world, Leap Day would entail some celebrations. Not to worry, though. This 30 Rock episode, starring an iconic Jim Carrey and Andie MacDowell cameo, has your back. Gear up for blue and yellow-themed festivities and, of course, a fictional movie that can give even Groundhog Day a run for its money! Be careful about getting your eyes poked, though.
The titular ninth episode of the sixth season of the Tina Fey-starring satirical sitcom series honors this fake holiday, concocting a blend of tropes seen in most films centered around such celebratory occasions.
Jim Carrey is a fictional character, Dave Williams, in the 30 Rock universe!
Leap Day is portrayed in the show’s mythology as an occurrence that calls for parties and celebrations. And like all great holidays, this one, too, puts the emphasis on a cultural mascot. Here, that is a gilled entity who sports...

Jennifer Lopez and Ayo Edebiri appear to have officially buried the hatchet in the wake of podcast-gate.
Speaking to TVLine’s sister pub Variety, Lopez revealed that the Bear breakout — who took heat for calling JLo’s career “one long scam” in a podcast interview that resurfaced just days ahead of their joint appearance on Saturday Night Live — says a “mortified and very sweet” Edebiri “came to my [SNL] dressing room and apologized with tears in her eyes, saying how terrible it was that she had said those things.

Stephen Amell’s TV wardrobe is taking a turn for the traditional: The Arrow and Heels actor has landed a starring role in Suits: L.A., the newest spinoff from the resurgent franchise.
The potential series — which was ordered to pilot at NBC earlier this month — centers on Amell’s Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who is described as a “charismatic force of nature who puts his own needs above others,” per the official synopsis. “Ted joined forces 15 years ago with his old buddy, Stuart Lane, to build an L.A. law firm that specializes in criminal and entertainment law.

The Big Bang Theory star Kunal Nayyar is back on network TV — but in a way you’ve never seen him before.
Nayyar guest-stars on this Tuesday’s Night Court (NBC, 8/7c), reuniting with his Big Bang co-star Melissa Rauch, but his character is a far cry from Big Bang’s painfully awkward Raj. He plays Martini Toddwallis, a flashy fashion designer who is a hit with the ladies… and who takes a special interest in Rauch’s Abby.

Officially, Prime Video’s spy drama Mr. and Mrs. Smith is based on the 2005 film of the same name. Unofficially, however, its origins are a bit murkier. Though this 2024 streaming iteration of Mr. and Mrs. Smith starring Donald Glover and Maya Erskine shares its basic premise with the previous Brad Pitt and Angelina-starring version (a married couple who also happen to be spies), the series diverges from it in some major ways as well.
In an interview with The Today Show, Glover (who also co-created the 2024 series) even admitted to not having seen the 2005 Doug Liman-directed film when he decided to embark upon the project. Co-creator Francesca Sloane wrote in an open letter to fans that “No one would need a show that retold the same blockbuster movie. But what we set out to do was to make something wholly original.”

NBC has set premiere dates for the early part of 2024, and the network will roll out several of its biggest scripted shows a few weeks ahead of its rivals.
With production ramping up following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, NBC will have a fairly tight turnaround between the start of filming and the returns of several of its shows. Second-year comedy Night Court — which continued production after season one wrapped last spring and did some filming before writers went on strike in May — and new series Extended Family (which filmed off-cycle and has a full season finished) will premiere Dec. 23 following a Saturday afternoon NFL game, then move into their regular homes starting Jan. 2. That’s more than a month earlier than the announced return of any scripted series on other broadcasters; ABC’s comedies The Conners, Not Dead Yet and Abbott Elementary are set to premiere on Feb.

Director Mohamed Diab got started working on dramas, making his feature debut with the 2010 film Cairo 678, about “three women and their search for justice from the daily plight of sexual harassment in Egypt.” That was followed by the 2016 film Clash, which takes place entirely inside a police van and shows what happens when “a number of detainees from different political and social backgrounds are brought together by fate”. In 2021, he made Amira, which showed that a “girl’s world is turned upside down when she learns the man she grew up idolizing is not her real father.” Then he shifted gears, directing four of the six episodes that made up the Marvel / Disney+ series Moon Knight. And now Deadline reports that Diab has signed on to direct a sci-fi thriller called Leap.

Director Mohamed Diab is no stranger to mind-bending sci-fi, having helmed last year’s Marvel series “Moon Knight.” Deadline reports that the filmmaker will next tackle Leap, a high concept thriller that traps passengers of a high speed train in a time loop.
The sci-fi thriller is penned by writer Ben Ripley and produced by The Picture Company.
Leap is “set aboard the Eurostar train which runs high-speed between London and Paris. Leap is a high-concept action-thriller with a grounded sci-fi idea at the center. The story follows a daring rescue mission to save one of the train’s passengers, who is trapped onboard in a never-ending time loop.”
Diab broke out last year on Disney+ series “Moon Knight,” which centered on Oscar Isaac’s character, “an ex-Marine turned mercenary whose multiple alter egos allow him to better fight crime.” The split personalities integral to the series demonstrates that Diab...

CBS is keeping three freshman dramas around for the entire season.
The network on Wednesday handed out full-season orders for East New York, Fire Country, and So Help Me Todd after all three got off to decent launches.
While the definition of "full season" has changed since the days every broadcast drama had 22 episodes and over, there's no telling just how many episodes these three dramas will go.
CBS will share more details further into the season, but for now, this is a great vote of confidence in them.
Fire Country has been a bright spot after launching on Fridays earlier this month and reaching 8.3 million viewers within seven days.
East New York, meanwhile, is averaging 7.37 million viewers, while So Help Me Todd is pulling in around 6.48 million viewers.

Although its titular character is the main focus, "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" is painfully aware of the surrounding universe Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) finds herself in. The show taps into the lesser-known parts of the MCU while touching on some long-anticipated interactions, including the re-introduction of Matt Murdock as Daredevil. After several years away from the suit and cowl, Charlie Cox reprises the role that has defined the character for the past decade in live-action. In order to bring his journey full circle, "She-Hulk" pays homage to a seminal part of Netflix's "Daredevil." I'm talking about the hallway fight scenes, of course.
His relationship with Walters is a focal point in the penultimate episode, but the series honors what came before it in one very exciting way. When Daredevil and She-Hulk find themselves having to work together to stop Leap-Frog, the veteran vigilante drops into the villain's...

Quantum Leap-Caitlin Bassett as Addison — (Photo by: Ron Batzdorff/NBC) Caitlin Bassett knows what it’s like to work on top-secret government projects. After all, she spent several years working in U.S. Army Intelligence and the National Security Administration. And that, no doubt, will help her bring some authenticity to the top-secret government project she’s part of on Quantum Leap. What she didn’t have was a lot of high-profile acting experience; Leap is her first television acting gig. When we spoke to her about the drastic career change, she admitted to us that she’s still surprised she landed a job on a major network show so quickly.(Click on the media bar below to hear Caitlin Bassett) https://www.hollywoodoutbreak.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Caitlin_Bassett_Military_Quantum_Leap_.mp3 Quantum Leap airs Mondays at 10/9c on NBC, and episodes start streaming the following day on Peacock.

For the 11th consecutive year, NBC took the top spot during premiere week in adults 18-49 demo and total viewers.
For the week of Sept. 19-25, NBC earned a 1.1 rating in the demo and averaged 6 million viewers. NBC was also No. 1 in entertainment only programming, according to Nielsen. CBS and ABC aren’t at full strength yet: their big shows like Young Sheldon and Grey’s Anatomy will roll out this week and next. As a result, ABC was second in the demo with a 1.0 rating, followed by Fox (.9) and CBS (.04).
In viewers, ABC was second for the week with 4.5 million, followed by Fox (3.9) and CBS 93.8).
NBC had six of the top 10 most-watched shows, which included Sunday Night Football as well as Chicago Fire (6.7 million), Chicago Med (6.5 million) and The Voice (6.1 million).

The central conceit of Donald P. Bellisario's hit sci-fi series "Quantum Leap," wherein Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bacula) involuntary time travels around the second half of the 20th century to right historical wrongs, was genius in its simplicity and brilliant in its execution. Over five seasons, viewers tuned in to see where Sam would end up next -- always wondering, in the back of their minds, if this leap might bring him closer to home (or at least fill in one of his memory blanks).
The one constant throughout Sam's temporal journey was Admiral Al Calavicci (Dean Stockwell), the doctor's best friend, who appears as a hologram to help his buddy work out the purpose of his mission. Their banter-filled relationship was the show's most endearing element, thanks both to the writing and the natural chemistry between the two actors. It was what we call in 2022 a "bromance."

Does Quantum Leap’s Herbert “Magic” Williams (played by Ernie Hudson) remember Sam Beckett (played in the original series by Scott Bakula) jumping into him? NBC’s continuation of the time-travel series will provide an answer in the coming weeks.
Episode 4 will address the leap in question, which occurred in a Season 3 episode of the original series featuring Christopher Kirby as a young Magic, showrunner Martin Gero tells TVLine.

Among the entries in television’s recent reboot gold rush, “Quantum Leap,” NBC’s revival of its early-‘90s sci-fi drama, is arguably the series most deserving of a contemporary reimagining. That’s not because “Leap” was a blockbuster. It performed modestly enough to be considered a cult series by the standards of its era, clawing its way to just shy of 100 episodes across five seasons. But the high-concept hook is no less potent now than during the show’s heyday.
The original found Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula), a gifted physicist, desperate to save the time-travel technology he’s been building on the government’s dime with too little to show for it. To prove his concept and save the project, Beckett tests the technology on himself to spectacular, if inconvenient results. Beckett can indeed hurl himself to and fro about the space-time continuum, but each “leap” plops him...

On March 26, 1989, the science-fiction TV series Quantum Leap debuted on NBC. For five years the show ran as a sort of Trojan horse amidst sci-fi shows of the time. While the show was billed as a time travel series following Sam Beckett “leaping” into other peoples lives to “put right what once went wrong,” the series functioned more as a dramatic anthology. Each week Sam would leap in and, besides his hologram guide Al (played by Dean Stockwell), the show rarely showcased its science fiction elements. Sam would just be living in the past, trying to make life better for those he met along the way.
But that’s all about to change. Quantum Leap is returning to NBC, but not as a reboot! Instead it’s a sequel following a new leaper, Ben Song (Raymond Lee), that will feature many more scenes and plot lines set in the “future...

In the weeks following the Supreme Court’s June 24 decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, entities across the political spectrum have engaged in a flurry of polarizing and impassioned debates. Recent comments — especially from those with large platforms and heightened visibility — have shown that much like gender is not a binary understanding of personhood, viewpoints on the topic can be more fluid than they seem. What remains consistent, however, is the growing number of organizations using gender-neutral language as the default in conversations about abortion rights and access for all people.
Since abortion is linked to language surrounding the reproductive system, many organizations and journalists reporting on the news have adopted more gender-inclusive language to talk about pregnancy and the termination of it — embracing an expanded view of abortion rights and how people’s identities and bodies are understood. Gender-neutral or gender-inclusive language...
