A Conversation with Jimmy Eat World's Jim Adkins Mike Ragogna: Jim, you have a new studio album, Invented. What's the band's roster this time out? Jim Adkins: It's me, Jim Adkins, playing guitar and singing, Rick Burch playing bass, Tom Linton on the other guitar and vocals, Zach Lind playing drums, an assorted cast of extra players here and there like string session people, and a lot of the female backups on the record are by a local, Phoenix person named Courtney Marie Andrews. Mr: And you've got Mark Trombino. Ja: Yes, that's correct. Mr: Now, the reunion starts with a tour centered around your earlier album, Clarity? Ja: We did a tour over America where we were kind of celebrating the tenth anniversary of our record, Clarity, and at the San Diego show, we met up with Mark who...

Goo Goo Dolls are back after four years with a new studio album, “Something for the Rest of Us,” out Aug. 31. The veteran pop-rock band, in its 24th year together, tapped mega producers for the set:in addition to engineering the set themselves, they roped in Tim Palmer (U2, Pearl Jam), Butch Vig (Green Day, Nirvana) and John Fields (Jimmy Eat World, Paul Westerberg). Vig had worked with Johnny Rzeznik and Co. previously. The set’s current single “Home” is already out at radio and went on sale on iTunes today. The Grammy-nominated band is already on tour and will stay...

As anyone who caught Stone Temple Pilots' recent run of shows can attest — which kicked off with a thunderous set at South by Southwest in March — after more than five years on the shelf, the alt-rock demigods certainly haven't lost a step.
But if you weren't lucky enough to catch the first string of shows, don't fret: Next week, Stp will launch the second leg of their U.S. tour, which runs through June 5. (They'll spend the summer darting across Europe, before returning to the stage in August.) On May 25, the band's self-titled sixth album is due — their first since 2001's Shangri-La Dee Da — and it features the snarling first single "Between the Lines.

An inordinate number of stars from the music world are in Australia at the moment (including Taylor Swift and Paramore), and it's hard to blame them. While the United States continues to struggle through a cold winter with freakishly huge amounts of snow falling seemingly every other day, it's currently the middle of summer south of the equator. It's festival season in Australia, which is why plenty of American groups have flown south for the winter.
Of course, the trip down under provides many opportunities for bands to get out and experience another culture or just enjoy nature. Paramore did a bit of both during their trip to the zoo, which they documented in photos at their official Web site. The photos (snapped by band photographer and director of the group's new video "The Only Exception" Brandon Chesbro) show the band members frolicking with various branches of wildlife, including a kangaroo,...

MTV News names the tart-yet-tangy Florida band Rock Week Artists to Watch.
We the Kings
Photo: S-Curve Records
Who: We The Kings, a sunny, impressive quartet from Bradenton, Florida (birthplace of the Tropicana orange juice empire!), with a penchant for writing citrus-sweet pop-punk hooks, are MTV News' second Rock Week Artists to Watch (the first being Brooklyn's Suckers). Originally formed when flame-haired frontman Travis Clark, guitarist brothers Hunter and Drew Thomsen, and drummer Danny Duncan started palling around in elementary school, Wtk started off as little more than a Blink-182 cover band. But once they discovered the dulcet tones of the Beatles (and the not-so-dulcet ones of Jimmy Eat World), they began writing their own tunes. They caught the attention of Fall Out Boy's management team, toured with the likes of Cobra Starship, Cute Is What We Aim For and All Time Low, and, in December, released their sophomore album,...

Expect everything from Nirvana and Green Day to Miley Cyrus and classical.

Nirvana to Miley Cyrus. Green Day to Howlin' Wolf. Jimi Hendrix to Jimmy Eat World. Obscure sample-happy Queens one-man band Kid America and the Action Figures to, of course, current tourmates Blink-182.
Those are some of the artists you'll hear on "Radio Weezer," the personal radio station the band launched Friday (August 28). The station follows in the footsteps of similar "Artist Personal Experience" radio stations from Christina Aguilera and the Eagles' Joe Walsh — who share management with Weezer — that have debuted in recent weeks.
A dip into the playlist Friday morning revealed some of the usual suspects (Ramones, R.E.M., Foo Fighters, Nirvana, the Pixies), as well as a few unexpected, more obscure surprises (songwriter Landon Pigg, MxPx, Frank Zappa) and, not surprisingly, Weezer's back catalog, including the band's toe-tappingly retro-pop new single,...

Activision, unwilling to skate by the holiday season with just "Guitar Hero 5" and "DJ Hero," is bringing one more rhythm game into your already rock-laden household before the year is out. "Guitar Hero: Van Halen" will be releasing on December 22nd, and features the musical stylings of Eddie, Alex and Wolfgang Van Halen along with the vocal insanity that is David Lee Roth. Sammy Hagar is, predictably, a no-show.
The game will follow the trend of "Gh: Metallica" and "Gh: Aerosmith" by including songs from not only Van Halen, but also other groups with similar musical style, including Weezer, The Foo Fighters and Queen.
Here's the full song list for your viewing pleasure:
Van Halen Songs
“Ain't Talkin Bout Love”
“And The Cradle Will Rock”
“Atomic Punk”
“Beautiful Girls”
“Cathedral” (solo)
“Dance The Night Away”
“Eruption” (solo)
“Everybody Wants Some”
“Feel Your Love Tonight”
“Hang ‘Em High”
