Superhero movies aren't for everyone. There are many actors who have donned capes, cowls, and spandex, later admitting that they didn't enjoy the experience and wouldn't do it again.
However, only a small handful of performers have returned to roles they hated.
Some did so because they were contractually obliged. Others, meanwhile, wanted a second chance or were offered enough money to swallow their pride. Then, there were those who were seemingly gluttons for punishment and didn't know when to say "no." All of them are featured here.

It’s likely only a matter of time before Dave Bautista officially joins the Dcu, but who should he play? James Gunn took that very question to fans over on Threads, and there were quite a few interesting responses.
One of the most popular responses suggested that Dave Bautista play Hugo Strange in the Dcu, the scientist and criminal mastermind who was one of Batman’s first recurring villains. Another popular choice was Mongul, the tyrannical ruler of Warworld who can go toe-to-toe with Superman. Other comments suggested that Bautista would be perfect for characters such as Darkseid, Bane, Kilowog, Mr. Freeze, Atrocitus, or even Bibbo Bibbowski.

Battered by disappointing markets at Toronto and AFM, both of which were held under the shadow of the actors strike, buyers and sellers are looking to Berlin’s European Film Market (EFM), which runs Feb. 15-21, to re-energize the indie business. The outlook, coming out of Sundance, is good.

James Gunn has carved out a significant reputation for himself in the superhero genre. He successfully brought the lesser-known Marvel superhero team to the forefront of cinema, transforming it into a billion-dollar franchise within a relatively brief period. Despite facing dismissal from Marvel Studios due to resurfaced old Tweets, Gunn still managed to complete one final ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ installment before eventually embarking on his own Dcu journey alongside Safran.
Gunn’s close relationship with the stars of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise became evident, especially during his turbulent departure from Marvel. James Gunn has made quite a name for himself in the superhero world. He managed to bring the Z-list Marvel superhero team to the big screen and turn it into a billion-dollar franchise in a relatively short span of time. After being fired by Marvel Studios because of some old Tweets that resurfaced, Gunn worked on one last ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie before eventually taking over the reins of his very own cinematic universe alongside Safran.
Now we know that James Gunn was very close to the stars of the GotG franchise and this is why pretty much all of them stood with Gunn when he was fired, most vocally it was Dave Bautista who publicly defended Gunn calling him “one of the most loving, caring, good matured people he ever met.” After Bautista, several of his co-stars also joined in the defense, but alas it was too late.

Samuel L Jackson and Dave Bautista are to star in Afterburn, a post-apocalyptic adventure about a treasure hunter racing to recover the iconic Mona Lisa.
Indiana Jones’ insistence that ‘it belongs in a museum’ never gets old, but we might be poised to hear a new variant on the adventuring archaeologist’s popular refrain. As details of Dave Bautista’s next film emerge, we’re hoping that hearing Bautista yell that ‘it belongs in an art gallery!’ will soon sit in the popular culture pantheon of quotes, right next to Harrison Ford’s enduring classic.
Why? Well, for his next action flick, Bautista plays a treasure hunter searching for the Mona Lisa in a post-apocalyptic future. After languishing in development purgatory for years, the ‘Gears of War’ movie is finally getting its time in the limelight, thanks to Netflix. This film adaptation of the iconic video game series is stirring excitement among fans, especially with whispers about potential castings and direction. Cliff Bleszinski, the genius behind the game, voiced his endorsement for Zack Snyder to take the director’s seat in a chat with ComicBook.com. He’s confident that Snyder’s knack for molding existing IPs would work wonders for the adaptation.
However, Bleszinski’s praise for Snyder has its caveats. While he appreciated Snyder’s classics like the ‘Dawn of the Dead’ remake and ‘300’, he wasn’t particularly taken with ‘Army of the Dead,’ a recent Netflix endeavor by the director. Yet, Bleszinski’s belief in Snyder’s capability for Gears remains unshaken.

Marvel stars Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista first met in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. During that time, Saldana admitted she had to quell the urge to do something she deemed inappropriate to her tall co-star.

Saldana was a comforting presence for Bautista, who was the less experienced actor of the Guardians bunch at the time. One of the first things that surprised Saldana about the former WWE star was his acting chops.
“You’d think because he’s so big and comes from the wrestling world that his acting is going to like a big, stomping giant but he’s actually so subtle and natural, and James would just explain the scene to Dave, and Dave would say, ‘Oh, okay, I understand that’, and it would be...

When Warner Bros. reached out to Angel Manuel Soto about directing a DC movie, the Charm City Kings director had other ideas about his Dceu debut. “I wanted to pitch ideas, and one of them was the Bane origin story,” Soto told Den of Geek magazine. Bane, featured in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, is a complex villain with mystery flowing through his venom-infused veins. Countless writers have tackled the Batman back-breaking behemoth in the comics, and Soto wanted his chance to explore Bane’s history. “I always thought that there was something interesting in exploring his reality and how a character like that comes to be… [but] the conversation was not about that,” said Soto about WB’s intentions.

When Warner Bros. contacted “Charm City Kings” filmmaker Angel Manuel Soto about potentially directing a DC comic book tentpole, he geared up to pitch the studio on a much different movie.
“I wanted to pitch ideas, and one of them was the Bane origin story,” Soto recently told Den of Geek magazine. “I always thought that there was something interesting in exploring his reality and how a character like that comes to be… [but] the conversation was not about that.”
According to Soto, Warner Bros. already had “Blue Beetle” in mind for him to direct. He recalled the studio saying, “There’s this character that we’ve been developing for a couple of years. The Blue Beetle, a Latino superhero.”

A lot has already been said about Chris Pratt's historic use of the F-word in James Gunn's cosmic trilogy capper "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3." For the last decade or so, Pratt and his co-stars have been trying to get just one cuss word to make it into the final cut of the Marvel movies they've been a part of, and finally, the dream has been realized. As the only earthling, Peter Quill was perfectly suited to belt out our planet's favorite expletive, especially during a sequence that takes place on the High Evolutionary's experimental Counter-Earth. Out of any major MCU character, Star-Lord was the obvious choice to drop an F-bomb, save for maybe Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) who came oh so close to saying "Motherf******" when he gets dusted during the post-credit scene in "Avengers: Infinity War."

With the release of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" in the rearview mirror, James Gunn is going to be more focused on his new job as the co-head of DC Studios. Yes, Gunn is moving from Marvel to DC after nearly a decade and, what's more, he's going to be personally directing "Superman: Legacy," which will be the big coming out party for the new DC Universe he and Peter Safran are putting together. Gunn has also confirmed that several actors he's worked with in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be coming with him to the Dcu.
On Twitter, Gunn was responding to some fan questions and someone asked if any of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" actors will be appearing in "Superman: Legacy." Gunn simply replied "yes," offering no further context whatsoever. Time to speculate recklessly! (Though applying some actual logic as well so we're not letting this devolve into meaningless nonsense.

The following article contains pretty major spoilers for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" so proceed with caution.
The predominant feeling leading into the release of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" was one of finality. We've heard from some of the actors, like Dave Bautista, that they're just done with Marvel, we know James Gunn has moved into the lead creative role at DC, and all the marketing was touting Vol. 3 as the final chapter of the "Guardians" series as we know it.
Movie fans have always been a little more in the know when it comes to the inner workings of the business side of show biz, but the modern age has brought all the industry nonsense into mainstream fandom. The average comic book movie viewer is actually aware that these actors signed multi-year deals, so even if Bautista wasn't telling every interviewer that he's done after the latest "Guardians" movie,...

In contrast to a number of "standalone" films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Guardians of the Galaxy" was notable upon its release in 2014 for containing a fantastic ensemble cast right out of the gate (as opposed to 2012's "The Avengers" being built of characters established in earlier films). The film made Chris Pratt a marquee leading man, gave Zoe Saldaña a third famous character who frequents alien planets, and made us believe that a raccoon and a tree could not only talk but sound like Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, respectively.
Yet the biggest surprise of that movie, when it came to the cast, was Dave Bautista's portrayal of the lovably dense Drax the Destroyer. While the film was not Bautista's first turn as a thespian, it put the actor on the proverbial Hollywood map, shifting his public persona from his history as a professional wrestler. Appearing as...

What sets James Gunn's superhero movies apart from the rest is his attention to character. His heroes always begin anything but; rather, they're selfish people broken by the past who find new purpose together. This, plus the right blend of humor and earnestness that most of his contemporaries can never strike, means that Gunn's movies do the "found family" trope much better than other blockbusters.
Aside from some detours in "Avengers" movies (and writing decisions that Gunn contests), the Guardians of the Galaxy have been Gunn's sole purview. That means he's crafted their character arcs as arcs, rather than just whatever characterization the shared universe demands. So where does that leave his lead, Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?"
/Film's Jenna Busch attended a press conference headlined by the "Guardians" cast. There, Pratt spoke about where Quill is at in this comic trilogy capper.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has finally been unveiled for its first audience, with the Hollywood premiere as well as press screenings taking place Thursday evening. The first reactions are pouring in ahead of the film’s May 5 release.
This is the final Marvel Studios film from writer-director James Gunn, who became a top director with the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie and has risen to take the top job as co-head of DC Studios in the intervening years.
The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff and Sean Gunn, who star alongside franchise newcomers Will Poulter and Chukwudi Iwuji.
Much of the cast has been together for a decade, and this is the end of the road for many of them. Bautista and Saldaña have both stated they are through with their characters. “I don’t think this is the end for the Guardians.

The first "Guardians of the Galaxy" remains one of the high watermarks of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that managed to capture lightning in a bottle, when it danced its way into theaters back in 2014. The long superhero saga that finally culminated with "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame" was a staggering accomplishment, balancing a multitude of beloved comic book characters with unrivaled action set pieces and high emotional stakes. But there was something special about the rag-tag group of misfits in James Gunn's far-out space opera that tapped into something truly magical.

It's no secret that "Guardians of The Galaxy: Vol. 3" is intended as an ending. The final chapter of the "Guardians" trilogy that started in 2014 is set to hit theaters next month, and when it does, it'll close the book on the story of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel) as we know it. Director James Gunn has confirmed as much, and the movie's trailer even feels like a heartfelt goodbye. But Marvel is Marvel, and IP never really dies, so it's no surprise that the film's cast is still being asked about if they'd maybe — just maybe — leave the door open to future returns as the Guardians.

This report is not a drill! According to Deadline, Mike Flanagan has pitched a horror-centric creature feature about the classic DC villain Clayface! Before I explode from thinking about the possibilities (Clayface is among my top villains in comics), the project has not yet been given the green light… yet. To be clear, the studio has not said “No,” but there have been no offers or deals for the project. If DC approves the project, Clayface will be a villain—none of the villain-becomes-hero nonsense.
Deadline says Flanagan and his Intrepid Pictures partner Trevor Macy had a meeting with DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran. The outlet says Flanagan wasn’t pitching the villain as a part of Matt Reeves’ The Batman sequel. However, Deadline also says scripts are constantly in flux, and Clayface is “a big addition to The Batman 2.” I wouldn’t cash that check yet, folks.

The gang’s all back together in Marvel’s new trailer for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” which aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday. But the Guardians’ reunion with Gamora, played by Zoe Saldaña, is far from sentimental.

One of my favorite genres also happens to be one of the least appreciated — horror. I’m sure philosophers and therapists can offer endless theories on why we love being scared, but it’s safe to say that horror films offer an experience like no other… when done correctly. Of course, it’s also one of the hardest genres to get just right, and a performance in the medium can make or break the movie. We’ve all seen those films or performances that walk a fine line between absolutely horror and unintentional comedy.

Paul Tremblay’s novel The Cabin at the End of the World feels like the perfect source material for an M. Night Shyamalan film. The story of an isolated cabin housing an apocalyptic choice seems well-suited for a director who has built his name with intimate stories that shake the foundations of everything we know.
Tremblay’s novel follows Andrew (Ben Aldridge) and Eric (Jonathan Groff), a couple vacationing with their daughter Wen (Kristen Cui) at a Pennsylvania lake house when a knock at their door pits their family’s survival against the continuation of humanity. Four strangers, Leonard (Dave Bautista), Sabrina (Nikki Amuka-Bird), Adriane (Abby Quinn), and Redmond (Rupert Grint) have come to present them with a choice: choose and kill a member of their family or unleash the apocalypse.
A significant amount of marketing for Shyamalan’s adaptation of the book, titled Knock at the Cabin, has been...
