For better or for worse, there's a lot of turnover in the world of television. While it can happen onscreen occasionally, as we recently saw with Henry Cavill in "The Witcher," this especially applies behind the scenes. Almost every day there's news about shows adding new writers or swapping showrunners. For example, after a tumultuous first season on Netflix under the guidance of Scott Buck, Marvel's "Iron Fist" rebounded with a better (but overall still not great) second season helmed by Raven Metzner before getting canceled. Speaking of shows based on beloved comic book characters, the adaptation of Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead" on AMC had four different showrunners over the course of their eleven-season run. Luckily for them, only one of those instances resulted in a lawsuit (which was eventually settled outside of court).
But if the major creative forces of a writers' room get to stay together...

Exclusive: CBS is developing East/West, a medical drama from writer-producer Yalun Tu (NCIS: Hawai’i), M. Raven Metzner (Iron Fist) and CBS Studios. Jet Wilkinson (The Chi) is attached to direct the pilot and executive produce.
Written by Tu and Metzner, East/West revolves around a pair of newly connected half-siblings – one an Asian- American medical doctor, the other a Taiwanese Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner – who utilize their sometimes clashing, sometimes complementary eastern and western expertise to solve medical mysteries alongside a team of brilliant doctors.
Tu and Metzner executive produce with Wilkinson. CBS Studios is the studio.
Tu is a supervising producer on NCIS: Hawai’i (CBS) and is currently writing the pilot Blank at Sony TV with Bob Odenkirk producing and Jet Wilkinson directing. He is also developing projects with Amazon, Fifth Season, Sk Global, Viu, and Bedrock Entertainment. Tu is repped by Gersh, Circle of Confusion and Morris Yorn.

Bandai Namco-owned Japanese animation series “Tiger & Bunny” has been optioned for adaptation as an English-language, live-action production for the third time.
Independent U.S. production entity Sk Global announced that it will develop the property as a series in partnership with Bandai Namco Pictures and with M. Raven Metzner adapting and show-running.
The “Tiger & Bunny” franchise features heroic crime fighters operating in Stern Bild, a fictionalized, near future version of New York City. The franchise was launched in 2011 as both a manga and anime series that played on late night TV in Japan. It quickly gave rise to two feature movies and a stage play in 2012.
Sk Global describes the property as “a heartfelt comedy-drama set in a futuristic city where large corporations sponsor professional superheroes, whose own valiant exploits are then broadcast on a popular reality television show, the story centers on old school veteran hero Tiger,...

On Iron Fist Season 2 Episode 10, Colleen takes her rightful place as the Iron Fist and everyone forges new beginnings.
The ten-episode season has finally drawn to a close, and boy, a lot happened in the last episode.
The new showrunner M. Raven Metzner finally proved that he and Marvel were, in fact, willing to take an extremely drastic deviation from the comics and essentially retcon Colleen to be a descendant of Iron Fist.
A move of this scale is unprecedented in the Marvel television world, even with the retconning in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with Skye becoming Quake.
This is virtually changing the landscape of the Iron Fist world as we know it. The Iron Fist is no longer the male-dominated, potentially appropriative cultural icon that the comics make it out to be.
With Colleen being the first descendant of the original Iron Fist, the show essentially retconned the Iron Fist mythology back to being Asian.

On Iron Fist Season 2 Episode 8, Danny tries to remedy his emotional issues while Colleen proves her worth as the better fighter and potential Iron Fist.
After facing massive backlash over the casting of Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist, there were a significant number of people who actually thought Colleen was a markedly better fit as the Fist.
Considering Colleen's training, character appeal, temperament, and Jessica Henwick's background, everything honestly seemed to make sense. No one truly pushed for it, but there's the opportunity for this to become real.
Now, it seems like the new showrunner M. Raven Metzner actually agreed with this assessment! Whether it'll actually be carried out (a considerable shift in the show) or simply a fan-satiating fake-out is tough to say.

Proving that even overwhelmingly negative reviews can’t keep a Marvel franchise down, work has now begun on the second season of Netflix’s Iron Fist, with two new set photos leaking from the production.
The pics show Finn Jones back in character as Danny Rand Aka the Immortal Iron Fist (he’s the Protector of K’un-l’un and the Sworn Enemy of the Hand, don’t you know?) on the streets of New York. The second photo also sees him joined by on-screen love interest Jessica Henwick, reprising her role as kickass martial artist Colleen Wing.
The last time we saw Danny and Colleen was in The Defenders, where they’d joined with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and their allies to defeat the Hand once and for all. The experience had a big impact on Danny, in particular, as he was left with a greater sense of...

Surprise! Kilgrave is back from the dead. Well, sort of.
Entertainment Weekly has today unveiled a brand new photo from the upcoming second season of Marvel/Netflix’s Jessica Jones, in which Krysten Ritter’s whip-smart private eye stands alongside her long-time adversary, Kilgrave (David Tennant). Further details on the actor’s involvement haven’t been revealed just yet, but we imagine he’ll feature via flashbacks to Jessica’s tormented past. After all, Ritter’s reluctant hero did put an end to Kilgrave’s mind-bending reign of terror – exorcizing her own demons in the process – during the thrilling finale of Jessica Jones season 1.
Chalk that up as speculation for now, as like we said above, plot details are scarce at the moment. Still, if one thing’s for certain, it’s that given the fact that Kilgrave is arguably one of the better Marvel villains across screens both big and small,...

Having spent so long twiddling his thumbs in the shadows of Hell’s Kitchen, The Punisher has officially placed his crosshairs on a November 17th premiere date, meaning Frank Castle is the man of the hour within Marvel and Netflix’s camp.
But in the fallout of The Defenders, which undershot all expectations to become one of Netflix’s least-watched superhero series, the online streamer is now making preparations for a brand new batch of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
Filming on Jessica Jones season 2 has already wrapped, and though David Tennant’s mind-bending villain was sent to meet his maker back in 2016, it’s since been confirmed that Kilgrave will continue to haunt the fractured mind of Jessica next year. Elsewhere, Daredevil recently welcomed the return of Wilson Fisk (Aka Kingpin), while the second season of Luke Cage will feature an upgraded version of Misty Knight.

Having only just gone and saved New York City from catastrophe – at the expense of The Hand and Midland Circle, no less – one might assume that the Defenders deserve a vacation, or some other form of respite to take the load off and, ultimately, recover from the events that rocked the Big Apple.
Turns out that’s not the case, though – far from it, in fact – as Marvel and Netflix are currently spearheading new instalments of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. All three standalone series are expected to premiere sometime in 2018, and though the Powers That Be took a little longer than expected to issue the go-ahead, a second season of Iron Fist is also in the works.
Having drafted in new blood in Raven Metzner (Elektra), who takes over showrunner duties from the outgoing Scott Buck (Inhumans), Iron Fist season 2 is said to be targeting a production start in “four or five months.

Unfortunately for Marvel and Netflix, Iron Fist is not viewed favourably by most fans. While it does have some supporters, or at least those who claim it isn’t as bad as the critics say, the general consensus is that it was a letdown. One of the main areas that people criticize is the fight choreography. In fact, star Finn Jones has even admitted that he only got 15 minutes to prepare for action scenes while filming.
Thankfully, the actor has now revealed that he’ll begin preparing for the physical part of playing Danny Rand very soon, which should have an effect on the quality of the action. He also confirmed the news that Iron Fist season 2 is set to start shooting in “four or five months.”

Proving those earlier rumors to be true, this week brought confirmation that the former Doctor Who star would reprise his villainous role for Jessica Jones season 2, leading to some speculation that Melissa Rosenberg and her team were about to resurrect Kilgrave for another stint in Hell’s Kitchen. But at least based on the gallery below, Tennant’s trickster seems to be haunting Jessica from beyond the grave, and is likely a physical manifestation of her own personal grief for snapping his neck at the tail-end of season 1. Elodie Yung’s Elektra enjoyed quite the arc during Daredevil‘s second season.
Introduced as a former flame to Matt Murdock’s Man Without Fear, the iconic character vacillated between ally and villain numerous times, before Elektra was left in the company of The Hand – presumably so that she could be resurrected as the super weapon known simply as Black Sky.
That leaves Charlie Cox’s titular lead in quite the predicament, who will seemingly be in a state of semi-retirement (exile, even?) when The Defenders begins on August 18th. A “fractured” relationship with Foggy only exacerbates matters, and we’re now learning that Elektra will ostensibly be re-introduced as a “completely new character” once Netflix’s team-up series gets underway. Last week, it was revealed that Iron Fist would be getting a new showrunner. Out was its original showrunner, Scott Buck, and in was Sleepy Hollow’s Raven Metzner. So what was the reason behind this change. If you listened to our latest episode of Los Fanboys, we wondered whether or not the quality of ABC’s Inhumans (which Scott Buck is showrunning) had to do with Buck getting replaced. It was bad enough that Iron Fist was as poorly received as it was, but coupled together with what looks to be a disaster with Inhumans, it looks like a trend that Marvel may want to avoid.

Will Marvel launch four standalone superhero series onto Netflix in 2018?
The industry giant is about to notch up a rather impressive achievement later this year, when Thor: Ragnarok will become the third McU instalment of 2017 – after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming, of course. Then, thanks to a ticked-off Jobe — who doesn’t like hearing that he’d be nothing more than Lara’s babysitter in Dreyfuss’ dystopian future — the demon henchman grabs his former boss and immolates him...

Nicole Beharie‘s Abbie Mills may be dead, but “Sleepy Hollow” is actually very much still alive. Fox has renewed its supernatural drama for a fourth season, a show that many (once again) thought would head to the graveyard instead. Sans former female lead Beharie, “Sleepy” stars Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane, Lyndie Greenwood as Jenny Mills, Lance Gross as Daniel Reynolds and Jessica Camacho as Sophie Foster. The 20th Century Fox Television and K/O Paper Products series hails from Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Len Wiseman and Phillip Iscove. The first three executive produce the show, as do Clifton Campbell,...

For the second time in two weeks, Sleepy Hollow has killed off one of its central characters. And just like Joe Corbin’s tragic demise, showrunner Clifton Campbell tells TVLine in an exclusive post mortem, the death is going to stick.
If you didn’t see the episode, here’s a brief, devastating recap: Abbie stepped into Pandora’s box, ending her own life in order to save the world from The Hidden One’s tyranny. Jenny killed the weakened god, which angered Pandora, who then decided she...

Heroes Reborn, Season 1, Episode 8, “June 13th – Part Two”
Written by Raven Metzner
Directed by Allan Arkush
Airs Thursdays at 8pm (Et) on NBC
Betrayal is the wrong word. Betrayal presupposes a condition of trust. No one in their right mind would have trusted Heroes Reborn up to this point, so no one could technically have been betrayed by the events of “June 13th – Part Two”. But just because one isn’t betrayed doesn’t mean one can’t be frustrated by watching this episode, or at least the parts of the episodes seen between eye rolls. It’s an accomplishment, in its own subpar way, because this episode has everything: time travel, inexplicable character changes, formal incompetence, and out of place pop culture references.
Let’s start with the formal incompetence: “Part Two” begins by replaying the events from the end of part one from different perspectives. This time we...

What is Sleepy Hollow without Ichabod Crane? The show's panel at New York Comic Con forced fans to grapple with that question. Tom Mison, Ichabod Crane himself, had been slated to attend but was forced by a scheduling conflict to back out. Instead, Zach Appelman, who plays the new character Joe Corbin, a recovering Wendigo, joined fellow cast members Lyndie Greenwood and Nikki Reed and producer and writer Raven Metzner for the panel. But while Mison couldn't be there in person, he did manage to dominate the panel. After being introduced, Appelman announced that Mison had sent him an email to read to the gathered fans. He proceeded in his best English accent (at least, that was the intent) to declare: "Dear Sleepyheads, I wish I could have been there with you to watch that episode we've all seen before, but alas I had to remain in Atlanta for the...

Sleepy Hollow, Season 2, Episode 17, “Awakening”
Written by M. Raven Metzner
Directed by Doug Aarniokoski
Airs Mondays at 9 pm (Et) on Fox
It’s difficult to pin down an episode like “Awakening,” because it’s an episode that keeps thwarting expectations. It sets itself up for twists and then abandons those twists in favor of new ones, offers up some fun alt-history that it offsets with bad characterization, and provides even more evidence of Sleepy Hollow fumbling in the dark yet snagging some brilliance in said fumbling. “Awakening” almost needs two reviews, one for what happens in the first three-quarters of the episode and one for what happens in the last ten minutes, because while the first part is bog standard season two Sleepy Hollow the second could potentially be the show’s most inspired move all year.

Sleepy Hollow, Season 2, Episode 12, “Paradise Lost”
Written by M. Raven Metzner

Airs Mondays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
The energy level greeting the return of Sleepy Hollow after its midseason finale is far different than the energy level that greeted its second season premiere. At that time, there were only vague concerns that the show couldn’t maintain this level of absurd energy; and now those concerns have been proven right. Sleepy Hollow’s second season to date has proved that there’s a limit to its madness, as lead actor chemistry and impressive visuals have been offset by some shaky plotting and the sense that the writers have no idea what to do with anyone other than Tom Mison or Nicole Beharie.
In that context, “Paradise Lost” is a midseason premiere that meets those expectations, an episode with a few lively action scenes and some...

Sleepy Hollow, Season 2, Episode 5, “The Weeping Lady”
Written by M. Raven Metzner
Directed by Larry Teng
Airs Mondays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
One of the most interesting choices the Sleepy Hollow creative team made early in the show’s life was making Ichabod Crane a faithfully married man. While lesser shows would keep him single for the purposes of unresolved sexual tension, Ichabod is entirely devoted to his wife Katrina and wouldn’t even consider looking at another woman. It was a decision that paid dividends early on, both in convincing the audience how principled of a man he was and allowing the partnership between him and Abbie to take on deeper meaning. (True, the Ichabbie hordes continue to grow, but their partnership remains interesting enough to transcend basic shipping.)
That doesn’t mean that the writers have presented the marriage of the Cranes as entirely harmonious, and “The...

4.4 Evolve Or Die
So, the Espheni have tried all sorts of ways to get control of the earth. They did their doomsday bombing runs that destroyed major cities, they've sent skittering monsters after humans, they've sent giant mechanical robots after them, they've stuck fashionable spinewear onto the kids, they've sent roving air ships after them, they've tried to brainwash them, and they've rounded them up into concentration camps. Every weapon, every method, every technique to win or rip out hearts and minds just hasn't worked out, unlike with the Volm and all the other races the Espheni have captured or turned into skitters.
This week, they seem to be turning to a new experimental weapon. Not the space shields and atmosphere burning thing from last season, but something... make...

Most would agree, Jj Abrams has had a successful career which has gone from strength to strength. Undoubtedly, Star Wars now offers an opportunity for him to reach a creative zenith, but represents also his largest risk. His stylistic choices may not be to everyone’s tastes and he himself admits that there are elements over which he has an obsession (lens flares & secrecy) but these are still a matter of personal taste (I’m ambivalent over the former, and truly appreciate the latter). All that aside, outside his burgeoning film directing career, as an executive producer Abrams has been responsible for an incredible amount of television in a very small space of time.

The interesting thing is that ABC optioned the Vertigo comic book "Fables" for it's own television series just a few years ago. A script was written by Stu Zicherman and Raven Metzner, and it is still a mystery if a pilot was ever filmed. The story, like "Once Upon A Time" is about fairy tale characters set in modern times, and it too would've featured Snow White. Once Upon a Time premieres this Sunday, October 23rd at 8/7 central on ABC. Synopsis: "Once Upon a Time", from the inventive minds of "Lost" executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, is a bold new imagining of the world, where fairy tales and the modern-day are about to collide. And they all lived happily ever after – or so everyone was led to believe. Emma Swan knows how to take care of herself. She's a 28-year-old bail bonds collector who's been on her own...

A couple days after it was rumored that David Yates (director of the final four Harry Potter films) was Warner Bros top choice to direct The Hobbit films. It was later revealed that Yates was in fact one of a few directors that the studio had talked with about helming the abandoned two-film project, but they were still waiting to hear back from Peter Jackson. Now Pajiba is reporting a rumor that Yates is in talks to direct a big screen adaptation of the DC-owned Vertigo comic book series Fables. Problem is, in 2008 it was announced that Fables would be coming to the small screen as a television series, with Six Degrees creators Stu Zicherman and Raven Metzner writing the hour-long drama pilot teleplay and David Semel (Beverly Hills 90210, Buffy, Dawson's Creek, Roswell, Angel, House, Heroes, The Cleaner) hired to direct. Since NBC announced they had commissioned a television adaptation of Bill Willingham’s graphic novel series Fables, not much has happened in the way of progress except to say ABC announced at the end of 2008 that they had picked up the rights and were developing a pilot. Rumor has emerged via Pajiba that a film version is in the works, and David Yates (Harry Potter series) is being tipped to take the reins.

The idea of Jennifer Garner playing Elektra to Ben Affleck’s Daredevil may have seemed a great idea at the time, given her athletic prowess in Alias. And unlike so many supporting characters who get eyed for spinoff movies (Jinx from the Bond series, Silver Surfer, etc.), she actually got featured in a 2005 feature from director Rob Bowman.
The movie was a critical and financial disaster, performing worse than Mark Steven Johnson’s Daredevil feature. Now, Elektra: Director’s Cut is out on Blu-ray from 20th-Century Home Entertainment and the three minutes added do not make it a substantially better experience.
The problem with the Zak Penn, Stuart Zicherman and Raven Metzner screenplay is that it never tells us anything about Elektra Natchios as a person. We’re shown flashbacks to her upbringing without detailing why her father was so hard on her. We’re shown she has Ocd...

If you’re a comic book fan, you know that your most trusted advisers are the employees of your comic store. After all, these people know who you really are. You can tell the nature of a woman by the comics she reads. (If she reads Strangers in Paradise, marry her.)

Those who look human do their best to blend in with the rest of society undetected. The others live at “The Farm” in upstate New York.

New York -- Divorce is a traumatic experience for millions of families, and Miramax hopes to heal their pain through the gift of very twisted laughter.
The studio is developing "Daily Show" head writer Ben Karlin and Stu Zicherman's satirical comedy "A.C.O.D. (Adult Children of Divorce)," the story of a grown man still caught in the crossfire of his parents' 15-year-old divorce.
Zicherman, co-writer/creator of ABC's "Six Degrees," is slated to direct the film and produce it with Karlin and Bobby Cohen ("Revolutionary Road").
"We're very glad to get the validation from Miramax, especially since we've been working on the script longer than any of our parents were married," Karlin and Zicherman said.
