Archie Comics continues experimenting with their roster of wholesome characters, planting them into ghastly horror comics similar to the company's output in the 1950's, with the new, 'werewolf story arc, "Jughead: The Hunger", that started with a 'one-shot', written by Frank Tieri and illustrated by Michael Wals:
"...'Jughead Jones' has always had an insatiable appetite. But what if his hunger came from a sinister place?
"When a murderous menace is on the prowl, taking the lives of some of the most well-known and esteemed inhabitants of 'Riverdale', Jughead and his family's dark legacy comes to light..."
"Jughead: The Hunger" #1 is written by Frank Tieri and illustrated by Pat Kennedy, Tim Kennedy, Bob Smith, Jim Amash, Matt Herms and Jack Morelli, with covers by Francesco Francavilla, Robert Hack and Michael Walsh:
"..'Jughead Jones' is a 'werewolf'...
"...and 'Reggie Mantle' has fallen victim to Jughead’s monstrous ways.
"Now 'Betty Cooper:...

Never mind A-list actors. The latest battleground in the talent agency wars might be mixed martial arts. Over the past six months, Wme and CAA have begun staking their claim in the octagon. In July, Wme-img acquired Ufc for nearly $4 billion. That came on the heels of CAA Sports signing top Ufc stars Cain Velasquez, Rory MacDonald, T.J. Dillashaw and Tim Kennedy as well as Mma coach Firas Zahabi (the agency has long repped Georges St-Pierre). That puts CAA in the awkward position of negotiating for clients with a league owned by its biggest rival.

Huge news struck earlier this month when it was confirmed that a group of former fighters would be suing the Ufc for alleged anti-trust violations, with the fighters claiming that the world’s largest Mma promotion was in fact a monopoly that bought up and killed off all serious competition, and acted illegally to keep fighter pay down, and limit other potential sources of revenue for fighters.
It was the opening salvo in a war that has been brewing for some time, as many fighters – including highly ranked Tim Kennedy and featherweight champion Jose Aldo – have complained about poor pay and treatment from the promotion. While Kennedy and Aldo are some of the larger names, there were many, many smaller ones, a large number of whom wished to remain anonymous, who had similar grievances.

Over the past couple of years, the Ufc has probably had more disgruntled fighters than ever before. Rampage Jackson. Tito Ortiz. Nate Quarry. Tim Kennedy. Nick and Nate Diaz. These are just a handful of names past and present that are recognizable – there are a lot, lot more. Even current featherweight champion Jose Aldo has complained about his compensation from the company.
With the Ufc recently closing an official uniform deal with Reebok that eliminates all outside sponsorships for Ufc fighters at official events and fight weeks (fighters can still get sponsors, they just can’t have them on display during the periods mentioned), fighters are more agitated than ever before.
Well, it seems some may be pushing back.

Ufc 178 was to be one of the biggest cards of the year.
Then it lost Jon Jones and it’s headlining fight.
So how did the card fare?
The answer, thankfully, is not bad. Ufc 178 turned out to be one of the better Ufc Pay-per-Views of 2014 thus far, thanks in large part to a strong supporting cast. With Cat Zingano vs. Amanda Nunes, Yoel Romero vs. Tim Kennedy, Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier, and Donald Cerrone vs. Eddie Alvarez, the card solid from top to bottom, and the “new” main event of Mighty Mouse Johnson vs. Chris Cariaso, barely in the top ten at flyweight, was almost an afterthought. Sort of a “we need a title fight” situation.
Better yet, all of the fights were solid, as was the televised preliminary fight between Dominick Cruz and Takeya Mizugaki (Patrick Cote vs. Wonderboy Thompson wasn’t bad either).

The Ufc’s biggest card to date in 2014 took a huge blow when the planned title fight rematch between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson fell apart after an injury to the Swedish challenger. It took an even bigger blow when the replacement fight, Jones vs. Daniel Cormier, fell apart as well after an injury to Jones. Cormier will now fight Jones in early 2015, Gustafsson is the odd many out, and Demitrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson vs. Chris Cariaso, the ninth ranked flyweight in the Ufc when the bout was announced, was moved from the co-main event slot of Ufc 177 to the headlining spot on Ufc 178.
That’s a pretty big gamble. The last card headlined by Johnson, Ufc 174, was the Ufc’s worst showing in years, barely breaking the 100,000 buy mark. That card had the return of Andrei Arlovski, and Ryan Bader. Ufc 178 has a slightly stronger undercard, with appearances...

England’s Michael Bisping returns to the octagon next Saturday in a bout against action film star and former Strikeforce champion Cung Le.
It’s the headlining bout of Ufc Fight Night 48 in Macau, China, and gives Bisping a chance to reclaim his place in the division, as he’s coming off a one-sided loss to Tim Kennedy that saw him controlled for the majority of the fight.
Interestingly enough, Bisping has been relatively quiet in the build-up to this bout. Generally an outspoken, brash fighter well known for trash talking, he seems to be taking the quiet, respectful route this time around. Speaking to the Global Times just a few days back to promote the upcoming fight, he said “”I respect Cung Le, I have nothing against him personally, but my job is to come to China and beat Cung Le.”

The biggest rematch of the year is off of the Ufc schedule, as top light heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson is out of his planned Ufc 178 fight with champion Jon “Bones” Jones. Those anticipating the card need not worry about quality however, as unbeaten Olympian Daniel Cormier has stepped up to face the champion instead. Gustafsson sustained a torn meniscus while training, and was forced to withdraw from the bout set for September 27.
Cormier was slated to undergo knee surgery to repair a torn Lcl and damaged Acl earlier this month, but instead opted to delay the procedure, in the event that an injury to Jones or Gustafsson occurred. It seems as if this decision was the right one, as Cormier, who has never lost a round in his Mma career, will now be competing for the Ufc Light Heavyweight title.

It’s been an exciting New Year so far for the Ufc. Chris Weidman successfully defended his title against Anderson Silva, the Ufc Fight Pass Digital Network was launched, and Dominic Cruz has been replaced by Urijah Faber in the Bantamweight Title fight against Renan Barao at Ufc 169. Making 2014 even more exciting is the 35th installment of Ufc Fight Night, to take place this Wednesday, January 15th, live from Diluth, Georgia. The landscape of the recently shaken Middleweight division will take center stage with three key fights to decide title rankings.
The ascension of Chris Weidman and the necessary time off for Anderson Silva to recover from injury has thrown the doors open for the remaining Middleweight contenders to stake a claim for a shot at the gold. The main event Fight Night 35 features a battle for redemption as former Strikeforce world beater Luke Rockhold goes to war with Ufc mainstay Costas Philippou.

Now that Strikeforce has finally closed its doors, parent company Zuffa can officially announce the full list of fighters that have been brought over to the top-level promotion, the Ufc. The introduction of these fighters, mainly in the Mw, Ww, and Lw division, gives added life and excitement to a promotion putting on more events and more fights each year, particularly with the massive Fox deal. In truth, several notable Strikeforce fighters have already made the transition over to the Ufc over the last year, including Alistair Overeem and Ronda Rousey.

Pretty much the comic book Oscars, the 2012 nominations for the Eisner awards have been announced. There is quite are large showing from Marvel in the superhero department, not so much from DC. Surprising, considering the company’s high profile New 52 relaunch. Save for Jeff Lemire’s nomination for Best Writer, most of DC’s nomination are pre-relaunch, or from their Vertigo imprint which has been left untouched by the New 52. The nominations are usually as controversial as the Oscars, with books and whole companies being left out, much to fans, sometimes, anger and confusion.
A full list of the nominations are below, courtesy of Bleeding Cool, and the award will take place at this years San Diego Comic Con.

The ceremony is better known as the Eisner Awards which is now heading into its 24th year with some great talent in the running. One of the most loved titles in this year’s nominee list is Marvel’s Daredevil, picking up 6 nominations that include Best Continuing Series, Best Single Issue, Best Writer (Mark Waid), Best Cover Artist (Marcos Martin), and Best Penciller/Inker Team Marcos Martin, and Paolo Rivera/Joe Rivera). DC also scored some decent recognition with their iZombie Vertigo series, gathering 3 nominations (Cover Art, Coloring, Inker/Penciller) for the creative team.

It’s the end of the year and everybody’s got their Top 10 list, and since I went to journalism school I’m obligated to list mine. I’m looking at titles that were released in 2011 because cover dates are meaningless. I’m not looking at original graphic novels or reprint projects, even though in dollar volume they constitute the majority of my purchases. Besides, original graphic novels are done to very different standards. Finally, some of these titles are done by friends of mine; I refuse to disqualify them because they just might buy me lunch. Having said all that…
#1 – Life With Archie Magazine (Archie)
Top of my list for the second year straight. Two stories – Archie marries Veronica, Archie marries Betty. Parallel worlds which converge, but that’s not why this book is great. There’s very real character development here, layered on personalities that existed for 70 years without it.

In the video released Tuesday, the native New Yorker and cohost of The View announces that she is joining the Pac’s fight to remove the state senators who voted against the marriage equality bill last year. “Here in New York, there are a few things that we like to call no-brainers: Avoiding Times Square on New Year’ s Eve; rooting for the Yankees; and standing up for your friends,” she says, adding, "You know, I understand not everybody is for gay marriage.
