Though it’s been more than 35 years since Beetlejuice was released in cinemas, the time hasn’t managed to put the story to its end.
A sequel for Tim Burton’s comedy horror is making its way back to the screens this year, accompanied by already familiar faces from the original movie as well as by new characters portrayed by Hollywood’s biggest stars at the moment.
Despite the famous story’s life going on, the time still didn’t manage to save some other iconic characters — and, according to Beetlejuice’s actress, it’s the main reason why they didn’t get to appear in the upcoming sequel.
The news that keeps coming in regarding Beetlejuice 2’s casting and plot details clearly suggest that the sequel won’t feature the characters whose appearance actually marked the very beginning of the story.
As many may recall it, Beetlejuice opens...

Geena Davis has confirmed that she won't be in 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice'.The 68-year-old actress starred as ghost Barbara Maitland in Tim Burton's 1988 movie but explained that she will not be featuring in the impending sequel even though the spirits "don't age".Geena told Entertainment Tonight: "No, I'm not. I'm not in the remake. Oh, you were expecting that I would be? Yeah, no, you know what? Because my theory is that ghosts don't age... Not that I have."The 'Thelma and Louise' star, who featured in the film alongside Alec Baldwin's Adam Maitland, added: "Our characters were stuck the way they looked when they died forever, so it's been a while, it's been a minute."Geena revealed that she still needs to watch the first trailer for the long-awaited sequel that is being released in cinemas in September. She said: "Somebody said they were crying,...

Here's my pitch to sell you on director Benjamin Brewer's Arcadian: it's A Quiet Place but with Nicolas Cage and better creature elements. The last part came as a huge shocker. Writer Michael Nilon sets the stage for an eerily familiar doomsday scenario that feels like Gareth Edwards' Monsters at first but quickly finds its roots as a sibling to John Krasinski's alien invasion franchise. Arcadian does take a bit to reach its full momentum, not as dynamically engaging as a survivalist drama, but once the monsters reveal themselves? Brewer executes what could be a knockout audition to direct the next A Quiet Place sequel, should there be more on the horizon.
We first meet Cage's protagonist, Paul, fleeing a metropolitan city under state-of-emergency sirens. Military rockets are fired towards an invisible foe as Paul escapes the crumbling architecture, eventually retreating to a homestead in farmland...

Before Winona Ryder was known for "Stranger Things," she was known for being "strange and unusual." At least, that's how her character in 1988's "Beetlejuice" put it. The actor would become a goth icon following her role in Tim Burton's 1988 effort, "Beetlejuice," with appearances in "Heathers" (1989), and "Edward Scissorhands" (1990) further cementing her alt-girl status. But there's no doubt "Beetlejuice" was where it all began.
The actor starred as Lydia Deetz, the teenage daughter of Charles and Delia, who move into a new house in Winter River, Connecticut, only to find it haunted by the ghost with the most himself, Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton). In the movie, Keaton's rambunctious supernatural miscreant was hired to spook the Deetz family by the former owners of the house, Barbara and Adam Maitland (Geena Davis and Alex Baldwin), who suddenly found themselves in the afterlife following a car accident. Lydia, meanwhile, becomes somewhat of...

In 1988, the world was given the gift of "Beetlejuice." It featured a tour de force comedy performance by Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice, a demon/bio-exorcist who derails the afterlife of Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin). In the film, Adam and Barbara die in a car crash and become ghosts. They are given an afterlife handbook and told they have to stay in their house for 125 years. However, the living Deetz family moves in, and they are told by the dead people's corporate office they have to get the family out by themselves. Barbara and Adam hire Beetlejuice to help them get rid of the living, though he is a disaster and evil in the silliest way.
Even Baldwin thought Keaton's performance was great, though he was worried that the film's reception might keep the actors from getting cast in the future, according to a GQ video...

Say it once, say it twice — but say it a third time and expect an explosion of chaotic supernatural hilarity. That was the premise of "Beetlejuice," the second feature film from director Tim Burton. Released in 1988, the film focused on newly dead couple Adam and Barbara Maitland (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis), whose quaint country house was posthumously sold to Charles and Delia Deetz (Jeffrey Jones and Catherine O'Hara). Adam and Barbara, however, remain in their home, as ghosts, horrified by the bizarre architectural changes being made to their beloved home by its obnoxious new owners. Taking advice from "The Handbook for the Recently Deceased," the Maitlands attempt to haunt their unwanted roommates into leaving — a tactic that proves unsuccessful when the Deetzes remain utterly oblivious to their efforts to scare them out.
The Deetz's death-obsessed teenage daughter, Lydia (Winona Ryder), can see the Maitlands, and befriends them. Just when all seems hopeless,...

The right song can take a movie scene from memorable to simply unforgettable, and few movie-music combinations have had the impact and staying power of Harry Belafonte's "Day-o (The Banana Boat Song)" in Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice." Belafonte's songs are all throughout the 1988 dark comedy about a ghost couple being haunted by an annoying living family that moved into their home, but "Day-o" is the big one, with the cast lip-syncing and dancing to the song during a bizarre dinner party. The moment is incredible, as new homeowners Charles (Jeffrey Jones) and Delia Deetz (Catherine O'Hara) invite over some of their fancy friends from the city, hoping to impress them with their large, oddly decorated house in the country. Instead, the home's original owners, Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) decide to possess the dinner party in an attempt to scare them away and force the Deetzes to move out.

Tim Burton is known for a wide variety of movies, but Beetlejuice is one of his standout features. He brings a gothic fantasy to the type of horror that he serves, which became his signature style. However, some of them stand the best of time better than others. Burton crafted something special with Beetlejuice, which only gets better with age.
