Dexys (fka Dexys Midnight Runners) have mapped out their first North American tour in 40 years.
Beginning in October, the UK pop rock band will embark on a 14-date jaunt that includes visits to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Denver, Chicago, Toronto, New York, and beyond.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday, August 2nd via Ticketmaster. Once tickets are on sale, you can also find them at StubHub, where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
The tour comes in support of Dexys’ first new album of original material in over a decade, The Feminine Divine, which is out today (July 28th). Beyond the North American shows, Dexys will tour the UK and Europe beginning in September.
Dexys’ current lineup consists of Kevin Rowland, Jim Patterson, Sean Read, and Michael Timothy.

Weekly music show Top of the Pops counted down the UK pop charts, jam-packed with performances from bands and solo artists whose singles had been selling well that week. It ran on the BBC from 1964 to 2006, seeing off seven prime ministers, 12 major military conflicts, and three separate Sugababes line-ups. As the decades passed, viewers watched the musical, cultural and fashion tastes of a nation shifting through the lenses of their musical heroes.
But as those things changed, so did the ways in which we experienced music. It began with MTV and VH1, and continued with the proliferation of portable entertainment tech; the evolution of the internet, downloads and streaming; and our ability to listen to or watch whatever we wanted, whenever and wherever we pleased. In this futuristic soundscape, Top of the Pops became an anachronism. The show still managed to occupy a warm niche in the public consciousness thanks...

It’s almost impossible to spot Spike Edney in video of Queen’s legendary set at Live Aid, but if you pause the footage near the end of “Hammer to Fall” at the 12:22 mark you can just about see him in the background. He’s the dark-haired fellow playing guitar next to a wall of keyboards. Queen hired him a year earlier to contribute keyboards, piano, backing vocals and rhythm guitar and he’s been there ever since, helping out with everything from their 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute show at...

As the Despicable Me franchise continues to evolve, 2010’s dastardly Gru is but a distant memory. The former recluse is now a tamed father figure. His ambitions now steer towards righteousness. All the gadgets and gizmos still tinker with zaniness – and yes, your minions are safe – but Despicable Me 3 if a family reunion better avoided. Writers Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio establish these tangential arcs meant to develop each singular character, which means less time for “hero” versus villain looniness. Unicorn obsessions are sweet and motherly duties fight for acceptance, yet 90 minutes just isn’t enough time to dignify each aside. Which is a shame, because Trey Parker’s Balthazar Bratt is one of the greatest supervillains ever introduced, only to be pushed aside for weaker material.

2.1 On The Road
God is missing, and Jesse Custer knows it. Now it's up to a lapsed preacher, a criminal, and a drug-addled vampire to track Him down and hold Him accountable for His disappearance. If there's some need for assistance, then maybe Jesse and company will be able to provide it. If God has simply abandoned His creation, then Jesse has sworn to hold Him accountable for the disappearing act. It's a bold claim, and it's going to shape up to be a long, strange journey across the American south.
I have to give a lot of credit to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

Before moving to its new Mondays-at-9 time slot on June 26, AMC’s Preacher kicked off Season 2 Sunday with an hour that was every bit as sexy, wacky and gory as a fan could pray for. (If nothing else, it had to make at least a few of us rethink our definition of “foreplay.”) But did “On the Road” bring Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy closer to their quarry — God — than it did the Saint of Killers to his — Jesse? Read on; the recap below is your own personal Book of Revelations.

(This article contains spoilers from Season 1 of “Preacher.”) We have mixed thoughts on “Come on Eileen” by Dexys Midnight Runners but in the first teaser for “Preacher” Season 2, it’s not that bad. The teaser, released by AMC on Sunday, picks up where Season 1 left off — with a road trip, some violence, questions about God, possibly some drugs, and maybe some more violence. Season 1 ended with Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga), and Irish vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embarking on a road trip to drink, cause mischief, and find God. You see, God stepped down from his seat...

We’re not in Virginia anymore, Ruth Negga. The Irish actress who became a household name last year for her Oscar-nominated performance in Jeff Nichols’ “Loving” returns to the screen in a very different role: A gun-toting, wise cracking, badass named Tulip in AMC’s hit comic book adaptation, “Preacher.”
The channel behind “Breaking Bad” released a banging new teaser for the return of their critically lauded supernatural drama, offering plenty of thrills and saucy British quips to pique new interest in its sophomore season. “Preacher” was developed by “Breaking Bad” producer Sam Catlin, as well as Seth Rogen and his “Sausage Party” co-creator Evan Goldberg. Catlin also serves as showrunner and writer.

Eileen Daly has exited the Big Brother house as a result of tonight's (June 5) eviction.
The 51-year-old was up against 19-year-old Joel Williams, in what was only the second regular eviction of the series.
Exiting to the sound of Dexys Midnight Runners' 'Come On Eileen', the X Factor auditionee thanked the crowd as she was met with a mixture of cheers and boos.
"I feel elevated, actually," she told host Emma Willis. "I really did miss my [partner] Bo."
"It was a wonderful time - it was elevating and a really intense atmosphere," she said of her time in the house.
"[But] at first I found it very difficult being the age that I am."
"Facing eviction every week has been quite difficult... you pack, and that's okay, but it's like Stockholm syndrome.

X Factor's Only The Young have leaped to the defence of their only remaining rivals in the Groups category.
The band dismissed recent reports that the show's eight-piece boyband, Stereo Kicks, have considered jettisoning members or even splitting into two separate groups.
A poll of Digital Spy readers recently implied that the majority of viewers would like to see the mega-group slimmed down, with 65% of voters saying some members should be sacked or the group divided.
However, speaking to Digital Spy, the boy-girl quartet said that they believed in each and every one of the group's members.
"We love the Stereo Kicks and every boy brings something different," they explained.
"We're not sure why anyone would think they were splitting!"
When asked whether they felt especially under threat in a category that had already lost half its acts, Only The Young admitted they were placing their trust in the viewing public.

The X Factor kicked off '80s Week tonight (October 18) as all 14 acts took to the stage.
Digital Spy rounds up the best comments from judges Louis Walsh, Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Mel B.
1. Jack Walton: 'Straight Up' by Paula Abdul
Louis: "You're the real deal, a real artist, you're all about the music."
Cheryl: "Each week you do a really good twist on a song, and I thoroughly enjoyed that."
2. Stephanie Nala: 'Call Me' by Blondie
Mel B: "I do think it really shows you've worked extremely hard this week, but I got a little bit bored in the middle. Loved the vibe, but wanted it to take me somewhere else halfway through."
Simon: "A million times better than last week. The tone of your voice was better. The only problem is it is like you're half-asleep, when you talk and when you perform.

There was plenty to howl about at last night's comedy awards. But while Olivia Colman and Cuckoo missed out, there were well-deserved gongs for The Thick of It, Hunderby and Reeves and Mortimer
There is no justice. That is what a lot of nominated comedians who missed out on a British comedy award last night will be thinking today, despite painting on obligatory smiles at the unusually well-behaved ceremony in London. But actually there is some justice after all. The nearest the painfully unfunny Keith Lemon/Leigh Francis got to taking home an award was when he leapt onstage and attempted to snatch somebody else's mantelpiece-bound slab from the rostrum.
Olivia Colman fans might have good reason to feel that justice took the night off. The 57 judges, drawn from journalism, TV production and performers, shortlisted Colman against herself for best comedy actress in Rev and Twenty Twelve, only for her to go home empty-handed.

James Cameron's collaboration with Cirque du Soleil promises a storyline, dancing on ribbons and a Mick Hucknall lookalike
Reading this on a mobile? Click here to view
In January, James Cameron announced he was producing a 3D Cirque du Soleil film. You may have thought this proclamation was just a cruel joke, like when he said there were going to be three more Avatar films, but apparently this is not the case. The first trailer for Cirque du Soleil – Worlds Away 3D has just been released. This is really happening.
But Cirque du Soleil – Worlds Away 3D won't just be a presentation of a regular Cirque du Soleil performance, all full of wind-chime noises and people dressed up as unicorn fairies flapping around on a ribbon. Oh no. We've been promised something more than that – it will have narrative and everything. But what story will Cirque du Soleil – Worlds Away 3D choose to tell?...

Frontman Kevin Rowland said of the album: "I got lucky. I couldn't have made this record five years ago. Or ten years ago. Everything seemed to fall into place. "I don't know why, but it seems like the stars were aligned. Everything seemed to work, whereas previously, it hadn't." He added: "This is a Dexys record, not a Kevin Rowland record. The Take Me Home Tonight soundtrack. Ooh, it was like The Scarlet Pimpernel. Sort of. This ’80s-set ensemble comedy for ‘young people’ was shot back in 2007 before being left to languish on the shelf, then saved from the guillotine of no-release oblivion by Ryan Kavanaugh, the masked baronet of Relativity Media. Hurrah! A pity though that Eddie Money doesn’t seem to have survived the ordeal. His 1986 hit which gives the movie its title is conspicuously absent from this soundtrack, despite having cropped up in the trailer.
Not that there is any shortage of ’80s radio monsters here. This is a paean to pop music’s past, an extended celebration of those hook-laden hits which detractors would rush to peg as lowest common denominator, but which equally can deliver high levels of idiot-grin enjoyment for those willing to check their musical ego at the door. An obvious comparison is to...

If Superbad was an 80's movie set in contemporary suburbia, Take Me Home Tonight feels like an unofficial sequel set in the 80s, made in 2007, released in 2011, and starring the guy from "That 70's Show." It's all enough to make your inner Tardis a little sea sick. Ironically, given the right circumstances, Take Me Home Tonight might have felt right in place on the list of Bad Movies Way Too Many People Refuse to Concede Are Bad. Those movies, for the most part, survive because of our nostalgic affection. But for all that Take Me Home Tonight gets right about 80's movies, it's impossible to remake nostalgic affection, no matter how many times you play Dexy's Midnight Runners.
It is refreshing, however, to see a filmmaker, Michael Dowse here, attempt to make an 80's movie without a trace of irony and without any meta jokes. Take Me Home Tonight is played straight up,...

Even though it has taken a few years to get into theaters, "Take Me Home Tonight" doesn't carry the stink of shelved film, but instead looks like a funny, foul R-rated comedy, and with the setting of the film firmly in the 1980s it naturally has the soundtrack to match. Spanning eighteen tracks, "Take Me Home Tonight" is essentially a really solid 1980s mix and it delivers in spades with tracks by Duran Duran, Mötley Crüe, Wang Chung, Dexys Midnight Runners, Men Without Hats, Kim Carnes and of course, N.W.A. who fuel the very funny red-band trailer. However, curiously missing…...

The history of celebrity self-promotion sets an unlucky precedent for the Oscar hopeful
Tinseltown's in a tizz about Melissa Leo's decision to take out a series of ads for herself in the Hollywood trade press ahead of the Oscars. Upset by her lack of exposure, the 50-year-old favourite for best supporting actress has said she paid for the ads – glamorous colour photographs of herself in evening wear, topped by the word "Consider . . ." – to counter ageism and "show a different side of herself".
It looks likely to backfire, of course, as self-promotion often does. Not just because the Academy has disliked stars who campaign for themselves ever since 1960, when Oscar-nominated actor Chill Wills claimed in an ill-advised ad that the cast of The Alamo were praying harder for him to win than those involved in the real Battle of the Alamo had prayed for their lives. Even Hollywood recognised this as poor taste,...
