The sequel to The Hatching, Ezekiel Boone’s Skitter is the type of skin-crawling creature feature that definitely deserves its place among other fantastic creature fare, such as Eight Legged Freaks!, Tarantula – or one of my personal favourites, Richard Ryan’s ode to B-movie horror Funnelweb.
Set across the Us to China to Brazil and more, this globe-trotting thriller takes place after the event that was The Hatching, where thousands upon thousands of spiders have hatched from within bodies across the world, plunging life as we know it into chaos.
The people that are left behind, from civilians to military personal to scientists, have to decide what to do with the spider threat that still exists. Meanwhile, something big is found in Japan – a writhing, glowing enormous egg sack that could bring about another wave of flesh-eating spiders.
Man oh man, this was one hell of a ride.

What better way to start your weekend than with an exploding limousine? That’s the stunt on display in a new video from YouTube creators Richard Ryan and Mat Best, who served as a two-man wrecking crew in order to promote the upcoming film London Has Fallen.
The collaboration between Ryan and Best began on Best’s MBest11x channel, where the two creators used a helicopter and some precise timing to “rescue” Best from a bad date. The fireworks truly began the next day, when the collaboration moved over to Ryan’s FullMag channel. There, he and Best used a thermite grenade to detonate a full-sized limo. As the vehicle blew up, they walked away from it slowly, because cool guys don’t look at explosions.
The two videos highlight two of the main selling points of London Has Fallen, which is a sequel to 2013’s Olympus Has Fallen.

YouTube Space La was recently overtaken by Skynet, but in a good way. The venue played host to a Terminator-themed campaign involving several popular YouTubers like Olga Kay and Lilly Singh (or IISuperwomanII to the online video masses).
The Terminator campaign shoot took place over three days. In addition to Kay and Singh, YouTube brought in Woody Tondorf of Machinima, Toby Turner, and Matthew Santoro to film promotional videos for the upcoming Terminator: Genisys film from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions. YouTubers Richard Ryan (RatedRR), Joe Penna (MysteryGuitarMan), Kevin Lieber (Vsauce2), Epic Lloyd, and Jack Douglass of Jacksfilms also made cameo appearances.
Kay told Tubefilter Arnold Schwarzenegger even showed up to contribute to the campaign. “There were at least 100 people in the lobby when Arnold arrived on set. I've never seen Youtube Space La being so silent,” Kay said in an email. “Everyone was taking in the Terminator power.

The "Tech Assassin" is blowing up. Richard Ryan, who posts firearm and explosives videos to his RatedRR channel, has now passed one million subscribers. Ryan, who is partnered with Discovery Digital Networks, has developed several signature series, including Tech Assassin and The Breakdown. Ryan recently re-branded his channel as FullMag, though he has continued to churn out badass stunts that make use of powerful weaponry. As he continues to bring his wrath upon all manner of gadgets, Ryan took some time to answer a few questions about his channel. Tubefilter: How does it feel to have one million subscribers? What do you have to say to your fans? Richard Ryan: I’m truly honored. I’m overwhelmed when I go to conventions and expos and there are thousands of people there. I can’t really comprehend tens of thousands, let alone hundreds of thousands of people clicking the subscribe...

Xbox is counting on the fact that blowing stuff up never gets old. Microsoft's gaming console partnered with several of Discovery Digital Networks’ biggest YouTube stars to real-life objects go boom as part of the networks' “Week of Explosions” marketing campaign. The marketing effort features online video personalities from Discovery’s SourceFed, SourceFedNERD, RatedRR, and The Vloggity. Each star was tasked with the awesome job of blowing up random objects (that have some connection to Sunset Overdrive, of course) over a four-day span (despite the “week” title). Mining history for fictional fodder has been a staple of television program dating back to HBO’s Rome and now series set across the years can be found on prime time and basic cable channels with more on the way. Whereas some like the CW’s new Reign is laughably inaccurate, others do their homework and mine the reality for nuggets to hang characters and stories on. Most audiences are blissfully undereducated about world history so they will swallow events on The Tudors, Borgias, and others without realizing how many liberties have been taken in the name of dramatic license and television realities.
No surprise then that the venerable History Channel would want to get in on the fun and they wisely picked one of the least known and richest cultures to mine for dramatic fare. Last spring they unleashed the nine part Vikings, a Canadian-Irish coproduction developed and written...

Zach King knows a thing or two about Final Cut, and thankfully he’s sharing the knowledge. People are starting to take notice of his gripping edit sequences and penchant for fast-paced VFX shots. His YouTube channel Final Cut King, once a witty blend of his last name with an amusing brand name to sell video courses and workshops on editing, is now a rising star in the innovative filmmaking circles within the world’s biggest video network. With 5.7 million total views and 37,700 subscribers, Final Cut King is on the verge of a breakout. His latest pop came in early May when King was tapped as one of the 25 winners of YouTube’s NextUp program—its first—which set the rising creator up with $35,000 and a trip out to New York City for the four-day creators camp. This week saw the release of his first collaboration project out of the NextUp program,...

Action thriller Ironclad is shaping up to be a proper medieval free-for-all, with news that sword-and-sandal veteran James Purefoy has joined the ContentFilm project.Set in England after the signing of the Magna Carta, Ironclad tells story of a determined group of Knights Templars who defend Rochester Castle from the devious King John. The Templars - a kind of medieval A-Team charged with protecting pilgrims throughout Europe - will be led by Purefoy, who mobilises the group against Paul Giamatti's King John.Purefoy, of course, knows his way around a suit of armour, having played Mark Anthony in the BBC miniseries Rome and The Black Prince in A Knight's Tale. He joins Robert Carlyle, Bob Hoskins, William Moseley, Pete Postlethwaite and Lord Richard Attenborough, who's eschewing the sword-wielding to play Archbishop Langton. It's certainly an interesting sounding cast, if a little short on damsels (there are rumours of Megan Fox...

The SAG Awards sparkled. Women in beautiful dresses, perfectly accessorized; men crisply attired in suits or tuxes; and flash cameras and video everywhere—it was quite a scene. There was drama …
… and romance:
Boldface names made their way down the red carpet: the bolder the name, the faster they moved. Oops, there went Brad Pitt (Benjamin Button). Too late. But Alec Baldwin (30 Rock) did pause for a moment:
He picked up an award later that evening for male actor in a comedy series. Meanwhile, the unofficial award for cutest kids went to the ones playing adman Don Draper’s children in Mad Men. Kiernan Shipka looks sweet …
… but advised me that if she won an award (she did, as part of an ensemble), it would go next to her Tae Kwon Do trophies. Easy there tiger! Meanwhile, her cast-mate and fellow winner Aaron Hart is a handsome little fellow …
