Drake has always been the talk of the town, both for good and bad reasons. The one thing that has always caught the fans’ attention is the music icon’s incredible physique and his washboard abs. Anyone who follows him on Instagram will vouch for the fact that Drake is super proud of his transformation and why shouldn’t he be? A body like that doesn’t come easy, after all.

However, Drake has been accused of getting his abs the easy way, that is, by going through surgery. Back in 2019, DJ Carnage hopped into Drake’s comment section on Instagram where the rapper/singer was showing off his abs and dissed him for getting ab surgery. While he was only taking a playful jab at his friend, Drake and his fitness trainer had their replies ready.

On the fifth day of Nicki Minaj’s intense fixation on Megan Thee Stallion following a jab the “Savage” rapper likely threw Minaj’s way on her latest track, Minaj invoked Rihanna to claim that Megan tried to force sympathy for herself as a victim of violence. She also refuted that she has encouraged her fans to approach or desecrate the gravesite of Megan’s late mother. The Texas cemetery where she’s buried has reportedly enhanced security and informed local police of the risk it faces as Nicki Minaj...

This week, real estate investor Cesar Piña was arrested on a federal wire fraud charge in what federal authorities are calling a “multimillion-dollar Ponzi-like investment fraud scheme” that defrauded New York and New Jersey area investors. Piña is a business associate of DJ Envy, real name Raashaun Casey, who is an accomplished DJ and co-host of New York radio station Power 105’s popular The Breakfast Club morning show.
Casey has repeatedly called Piña his “partner” publicly. The two ran real estate seminars and shopped a real estate reality series together.

During his second night guest hosting “The Daily Show,” Desus Nice had a special segment for Comedy Central viewers: ripping into a guy he doesn’t like, DJ Envy.
“I know some people expect me to come on here and just do my thing where I roast people that I have beef with, but this is a serious show,” Nice said before putting on his “spectacles” and launching into some financial news. The guest late night host then proceeded to use five minutes of his eight-minute monologue to rip into DJ Envy, a man he’s been publicly feuding with since 2018.
“Wow, DJ Envy is in trouble for real estate fraud. What a serious story. It’s definitely not funny,” Nice said.

What kind of music should the world expect from a 36-year-old Drake? “I want to hear adult Drake rapping for adult people,” rapper-turned-podcaster Joe Budden said after hearing his new album, For All the Dogs. In lieu of any newfound maturity, the album is instead full of very Drake moments, including lyrics about a ruined Bahamas trip, the difficulties of dating 25-year-olds, Esperanza Spalding’s 2011 Grammy wins, and people thinking he’s still hung up on Rihanna. Meanwhile, critics noticed what they described as a growing misogyny in Drake’s work,...

Rub a little Vaseline on your teeth, fire up a hot latte, do a few mouth stretches and whisper, “It’s showtime!” That’s how the most powerful people in the podcasting business — a mix of hosts, executives and reps featured on THR‘s annual power list — ready themselves before recording their widely-heard shows. As part of this year’s survey, the group, which also includes Call Her Daddy‘s Alex Cooper, Bill Simmons, Ben Shapiro and My Favorite Murder co-hosts Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, reveals its dream guests and guilty pleasure listens as well.

It seems like everyone these days is talking about the Internet. Maybe it’s the sneaking sense that artificial intelligence might upend this (very flawed) digital utopia as we know it, or maybe it’s the lingering uncertainty of the pandemic. Either way, the world online right now feels like it’s on the edge of a significant change, which might explain why we’re so obsessed with discussing the Internet of yesteryear. Two days before this past Christmas, Tory Lanez was found guilty of three counts related to the July 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. He now faces over 20 years in prison and deportation to his native Canada. For many, the verdict represents justice for Megan, but others contend that there can be no true retribution for victims of violent crimes. Tory’s jail time doesn’t undo Megan’s physical harm, nor the barrage of mistreatment from people who ridiculed her claims for over two years.

Marissa Hurwitz has been at the forefront of some of podcasting’s most exciting — and lucrative — deals.
The digital media agent and newly promoted partner at WME closed one of Spotify’s first major exclusive podcast deals, with Joe Budden, in 2018 — a licensing deal that helped pave the way for the audio giant’s licensing deals with behemoths like The Joe Rogan Experience and Call Her Daddy, even as Budden ultimately walked away from the platform two years later to pursue a wider distribution model for his show.
Since then, the podcast dealmaking space has seen the entrance of new buyers, including Amazon, which struck a massive ad sales and distribution deal earlier this year with Hurwitz’s clients, Alaina Urquhart and Ashleigh Kelley, who lead the Morbid podcast network. And thanks in part to the success of David S. Goyer’s Batman Unburied,...

I didn’t expect to still be listening to Lil Yachty in 2020. While talking about her career and the music industry on the Joe Budden Podcast, Nicki referenced the posts going around on social media listing the 50 greatest rappers of all time. "This is what I want to say, I would feel so f--king crazy if I had numbers ones and Grammys and ain't on nobody top 50 list," Nicki said. "I'm not talking about myself." "We just sat here and spoke for an hour and all I've seen, stuff on the Internet...

Aging gracefully in hip-hop, especially in 2019, is a near-impossible task. Part of the culture’s appeal and ongoing popularity is how well it ushers in an endless supply of new stars, each rejuvenating the scene (or just sowing chaos). Predictably, this leaves older generations perplexed on how to effectively keep their relevancy intact after each subsequent wave of youthful exuberance.

Pusha T and Lil Wayne were set to be on the sixth installment of Rick Ross‘s “Maybach Music” series. The collaboration was pitched as a ceasefire between two rappers who have spent the better part of a decade trading subliminals back and forth, to the point that Wayne’s protégé, Drake, inherited the beef. The animosity between the two dates back to Pusha’s days in Clipse, the each accusing the other of stealing their style, and sparring over their stylistic influence over hip-hop.

In a video interview uploaded to YouTube in February, Joe Budden, a former major-label rapper who is enjoying a popular second career as a podcast star, tried to recruit 2 Chainz to lead a strike in hip-hop.
“You don’t think we need a union?” Budden asked. “You should be our Derek Fisher” — the head of the NBA players union during the league’s 2011 lockout. “They gonna pay me to be the head of that?” 2 Chainz wondered.
Budden shook his head as if mildly disappointed. “Chainz ain’t fuckin’ with stoppage of work.

The latest episode of Love & Hip Hop: New York showed Joe Budden lose his cool. He ripped into Safaree Samuels in front of everyone on the Costa Rica trip for bringing Erica Mena along after he said he wasn’t going to do that. Joe demanded an apology from Safaree, who didn’t seem to understand what all the fuss was about but those who have been watching Love & Hip Hop: New York since Seasons 4 and 5 know exactly why Cyn Santana’s man was mad. While Cyn and Erica haven’t been beefing in years, it’s no secret that the […]

On the latest episode of Love & Hip Hop: New York, the crew is currently on a cast trip in Costa Rica. Safaree Samuels is there and it turns out, he’s not alone. It wasn’t until a very angry Joe Budden confronted Safaree that we learned Erica Mena is also along for the trip, she’s just not coming to hang out with her former Love & Hip Hop castmates. Budden confronted Safaree for bringing along his girlfriend because, as they discussed during the episode, Safaree told Joe that she wouldn’t be coming along. While Safaree doesn’t seem to think that […]

Streaming music leader Spotify is making a massive bet on podcasting -- a burgeoning format that has notably been pursued by a number of YouTube stars in recent years.
Today, Spotify announced that it will acquire two of the biggest players in the space: Brooklyn-based podcast producer Gimlet Media, which is behind hits like Reply All and Homecoming, as well as Anchor -- a distribution platform that enables anyone to publish and monetize their own audio shows. While Spotify did not disclose a purchase price, Recode pegs the Gimlet acquisition at $230 million, and notes that Spotify founder and CEO Daniel Ek said that the company plans to spend $500 million on deals in the podcast space this year.
In a blog post, Ek said that the company “sees an opportunity apart from where we sit today. An opportunity that will allow us to reach beyond music to engage users in entirely new ways.

A resurfaced 2011 clip of Chris Rock, Ricky Gervais, Jerry Seinfeld and Louis Ck drew new attention and criticism Saturday because of Ck’s use of the N-word.
In the clip, from the film “Talking Funny,” Rock states, “He’s the blackest white guy I f–ing know,” referring to Ck.
Louis interrupted, “You’re saying I’m a n—er?”
Rock answered with a laugh, “You are the n—erest f—ing white man I have ever…”

Laughter ensues, and then Ck explains that he uses the N-word onstage, while Gervais and Seinfeld do not. Gervais then uses the word while explaining that he would not use it in his act.
Seinfeld agrees that he would not use the word.

VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop: Miami” is samba-ing to a new night.
The South Beach spinoff of hit series and franchise-sparker “Love & Hip Hop” will return to the Viacom cable channel on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 8/7c. Fans of the South-Florida version of the show will want to update their DVRs from Monday recordings to Wednesdays.
The New York City-version will air on Mondays as “Miami” holds down Wednesdays. That means VH1 gets a double-dose of tune-in — and TV ratings are the strength of the reality-show universe.
“Love & Hip Hop: Miami” marked VH1’s highest rated reality launch since 2014 when it debuted last January, and the various incarnations of “Love & Hip Hop” regularly rank as cable’s No. 1 unscripted show on Monday nights.

You can definitely call it a comeback.
The official trailer for Season 9 of “Love & Hip Hop: New York” has arrived ahead of its premiere next week, and that means the returns of franchise favorites Joe Budden and Cyn Santana after four years away. The pair are in full swing almost immediately, and yes, that means lots of screaming.
Budden is busy with his podcasting, while Santana is working on her clothing line, and the couple has brought a third star into the mix with them this season: their baby boy Lexington. The couple is already back down to their “Lhh” fighting weight, throwing jabs at each other in the car, on the street, and, of course, in their own home.
