"Clear your diaries, get the time booked off" - @BBCSimonMcCoy announces royal baby due date in his unique way https://t.co/wiIIJXoRNt pic.twitter.com/cwcO03lS9t - BBC News (UK) (@BBCNews) October 17, 2017 A little over a month after Kate Middleton and Prince William announced that they're expecting their third child, Kensington Palace confirmed this week that their new bundle of joy is due in April 2018. While a lot of people were excited by the news, others were . . . somewhat unimpressed. RelatedEverything We Know So Far About Kate Middleton and Prince William's Third Baby BBC news reporter Simon McCoy was live on air when the announcement was made, and he relayed the information in his own unique way. "Now, bearing in mind that they announced that she was pregnant back in September, I'm not sure how much news this really is," he said with a bit of a sarcastic laugh.

Presenting two real-life stories from my days of yore, although names have been changed to protect both the innocent and the guilty.
Story The First:
I knew a girl in high school – I wouldn’t say we were friends, but she was someone who had never participated in the Piggy horrors. Sally was an A+ student, on the track to an Ivy League school. Pretty (but not gorgeous) and popular (but quiet about it), she came to me one day and said that she needed to talk to me privately. I was surprised… and a bit suspicious. What did she want? But because Sally had never been overtly mean to me, even though she was part of the clique that instigated most of the callous cruelties upon me, and because I still hoped to be “accepted,” and I wanted to believe for some reason she was about to warn me...

News flash! Time passes!
When I was a child, I was mesmerized by the very concept of time. How was it discovered? Why are units of time, like minutes and hours and days, all measured in multiples of 6? What was there before time? Could time ever end? If so, what would replace it? Eventually, these thoughts made me throw up, and I would have to make myself think about other stuff.
But here’s the thing: Time happens. Whether you think about it or not.
I am reminded of this when I look at the list of contributors to Mine! A Comics Collection to Benefit Planned Parenthood. In addition to talents like Neil Gaiman and Jill Thompson, there are a bunch of people whom I know personally on the list but there are also a whole lot I don’t know.
For example, there’s Gabby Rivera. And Tee Franklin.

A 17-year-old girl died on Monday following being attacked by a shark while surfing with her father off the southern coast of Western Australia. Her mother and two younger sisters witnessed the horrific event from the beach.
A spokesman at the Esperance police told The Australian that Laeticia Brouwer and her father, both experienced surfers, were “not a long way off-shore” when the attack by an unidentified type of shark occurred.
Brouwer’s father was able to bring her out of the water, where family members and a nurse who was at the beach performed first aid and applied a tourniquet to prevent blood loss.

One of the many good things coming from Canada is the animated program Total Drama Island, a great success both here in my country and as far as I gather, all over the world. Tdi takes an unusual premise of doing an animated teenage reality show which manages to be entertaining to both younger and older audiences. Like in actual reality shows, each week the contestants have to participate in various insane tasks, earn marshmallows and remain on the island without getting voted off. Each teen stands for a common a steretype from the dumb blond to the goth girl and the party kid. There are even some more whacked out stereotypes like a home-schooled sexist genius and a jock who sucks at every imaginable sport but has cool tracksuits. The show constantly plays with the expectations and the rules of reality TV, ending up with something that's far more entertaining than the real thing.
