She's brassy, hilarious and just about the only comedian around who can almost single-handedly carry a movie to a $35 million opening: Tammy star Melissa McCarthy is on the cover of our Summer Double issue (on stands Friday), flexing her muscles for a revealing story that details her long rise to stardom and (sometimes unusual) acting techniques.
Rated Xx: A Brief History of Female Comedies
McCarthy may be known for swearing onscreen, but hanging out with contributing editor Erik Hedegaard, she offers more "holy smokies!" than fucks, explaining how she spent...

It's been more than a decade since the 1990s ended, yet the Internet can't seem to go a day without a reminder of the neon slap bracelets that may have been banned from your school.
Yes, we get it. Times are tough and there's comfort in reflection, but enough is enough.
Below, a final goodbye to the 90s to end the nostalgia once and for all. (We're not kidding. There are 1990 items below.)

Peaches no longer lives in Toronto, but that doesn't mean she's not concerned that her beloved city is being run by an alleged crack-smoking mayor.
During a recent visit home for a screening of her quasi-autobiographical transsexual musical "Peaches Does Herself" at the Lgbt Film Festival, she teamed up with electro duo #entertainment to record a send-off for the city's embattled mayor titled "Bored of Rob Ford."
Ford has made international headlines — and fodder for Jon Stewart, Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel — after journalists from Gawker and the Toronto Star reported being shown an iPhone video of him appearing to smoke crack. Rob Ford has responded to the allegations by saying "I don't use crack cocaine nor am I an addict of crack cocaine."
"It couldn't be avoided," Peaches told Huffington Post Canada of how she first heard about Ford's crack video scandal. “It was world news and then I...

George Michael has canceled his Australian tour to deal with anxiety problems. He says that his doctors warned him that he would experience issues related to his near death experience in Austria last year, and he'll be seeking treatment after he finishes his UK dates.
John Kobal became obsessed with cinema after sneaking into a theater showing Rita Hayworth movies for American GIs during the Occupation post WWII. He set about collecting rare Hollywood photography, and a fraction of it is set to be released in a book called Hollywood Unseen next month. "Charmingly odd (and often hilariously homoerotic) reminders of a bygone era—when studio loyalty inspired stars to gamely pose in highly artificial scenarios."
The Unofficial Gay Days at Disneyland runs October 5-7, and will feature stars from RuPaul's Drag Race, Michael Urie, Dot Marie Jones, Florence Henderson, Miss Coco Peru, and a screening of the new ABC series Nashville.

Remember Lady Miss Kier, the costumed diva from Deee-Lite? "Groove Is in the Heart"? (They scored six number-one hits on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart, guys, so we know you know her.) Well, she's back, in an a-mazing video encouraging Democrats to get up and vote for Obama. That's right, she's donning a red wig and tassled onesie all in the name of left-leaning, nightclub frequenters everywhere.
So, are you registered, baby?
Let us know how you feel about Lady Miss Kier's project in the comments section. You can compare her artistic fete to these other visual artists who have stood up for Barack in the slideshow below.

Congratulations to CCWayne, whose photo and story have been added to the NOH8 site. Just further proof that Ae readers are a cut above. (h/t Miz Liz) Well, the debacle that was ABC's Skating With The Stars is over, and the winner is that girl who plays Greensleeves on All My Children. I love that song, but I prefer Chopsticks. Where was I? Oh yeah, Swts stunk on ice, and between the abysmal ratings, bruised and battered celebrities, and the slicing of important body parts, it seems unlikely that the show will return. But if it does I'll be here, patiently waiting for a chance to work "Looking Through The Black And Blue Eyes of Love" into the conversation. Omg Blog has named their Top Ten Gayest Songs of the Year, and I admit that some of the names are unfamiliar to me, but I did squeal a bit...

Tuesday night's (March 9) "American Idol" began with an intense roll call that had each girl peeling off one by one as Ryan Seacrest announced her name. Is this "American Idol" or a video catalog for mail-order brides?
"Idol" wasted no time to get to the eight performances so why should I? Let's go!
Katie Stevens
Song: "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson
Verdict: Walk Away
Katie took the judges' advice and picked a song that young people listen to. Unfortunately, she didn't sing it well. Flat and behind the beat — like "From Justin to Kelly," it just didn't work. Katie's another one who would have been better off waiting until she was 21 before trying out for "Idol." But even after the judges slammed her for lacking life experience to pull off the soaring ballad, Stevens attempted to argue her way into the Top 12. "But the song mentions coming from a small town,...
