Keith Urban has dropped a second single for his upcoming 12th album, releasing “Messed Up As Me” on Friday. The new track follows the upcoming album’s lead single “Straight Line,” which hinted at his first album in four years.
“I was hopin’, baby, maybe you’d be as messed up as me/And all alone/And all of your friends have all gone home,” Urban sings on the track. “And you hatе that the truth is nobody leaves your hеad and your heart and your bed and your sheets/As messed up as me.

Country music has a long and complicated history with rock. It certainly didn’t start with Steven Tyler’s flirtation with twang this year, or with Big Machine Records (the house that Taylor Swift built) rounding up over a dozen country acts to record a tribute to Mötley Crüe in 2014. It was there long before the duo Florida Georgia Line teamed up with Nickelback’s producer, and country singer Brantley Gilbert added a metal guitarist and a mohawk-sporting drummer to his lineup. Nor did it have its genesis with Dann Huff, who’s steered albums by Keith Urban and a slew of other country hitmakers and was, years before that, a member of the hair-metal outfit Giant. Or with Garth Brooks, who modeled his high-flying concert tours on the dynamism and bombast of arena rock. There’s no end to the list of other country singers, songwriters, players, producers, and...

It comes with little surprise that last night's (November 5) broadcast of the 48th Annual Cma Awards was packed full of hilarious antics and amazing performances. In addition, plenty of excited winners celebrated together inside Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.
Hosted by dynamic duo Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, the night went off without a hitch as the pair joked about former country babe Taylor Swift, the Ebola panic and the gender of Carrie's bun in the oven (she's having a boy!).
As for the lucky victors, Luke Bryan scored Entertainer of the year, while husband and wife Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton took home Female and Male vocalists of the year, respectively. Kacey Musgraves didn't go home empty handed either! She scored Song of the Year for her tune "Follow Your Arrow," which is a big upgrade from her newbie status just last year!

There’s more chaos in Mariah Carey Land as she and her manager Jermaine Dupri have parted ways and veteran label executive Kevin Liles is now handling Team Mariah. As you’ll recall, Dupri was only on board as her official manager since last fall, but he and Carey have a very long history as musical collaborators, going back to 1995’s “Daydream.” He served as executive producer on Carey’s latest set, “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse," and co-produced five tracks on the album. As you know, that album continues to circle the drain. It’s worst than if she’d never released an album because she now has this huge commercial failure around her neck. “Mariah” sold 58,000 in its first week of release in May, which was by far her poorest showing in her 25-year career. It’s a shame because the album, as overstuffed and scattered as it was,...

For the inconceivable fourth-straight year, married couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert took home their respective Vocalist of the Year awards at the Cma Awards. Keep reading to find out who else took home an award!
Hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley started country music's biggest awards show with an opening that the nation will be buzzing about in the morning.
The two first addressed feuds in country music by delivering a duet of "Why Can't We Be Friends?" and then decided to lightheartedly start their own outrageous feuds (e.g., Brad Paisley vs. Kenny Rogers; Darius Rucker vs. Julianne Hough).
The well-orchestrated comedy skit continued with a satire of the rocky launch of Obamacare via a spin on George Strait's "Amarillo By Morning" ("Obamacare by morning, over six people served"), and an applause for Taylor Swift for keeping her clothes on unlike her female pop music counterparts.

The "American Idol" judges panel is once again in flux, though reportedly the show is looking to bring back three alumni to serve as judges, with Jennifer Hudson allegedly close to inking the first deal.
Season 12 judge Keith Urban says he has no new information, telling CBS News, "I have no official information of anything. "I'm pretty much in the same boat as everybody else here with the rumors that have been floating around. I don't know anything more about what's happening next season.
It was like this before I signed on ... so it's not unusual for the 'Idol' folks to be in this place of figuring out what they want to do, then they always pull it together."
For our money, even though it might be weird to have two alumni and Urban, we thought he was a fantastic judge this season and we'd like to see him return.

Nashville, Tenn. -- Keith Urban is no different than the rest of us: He has no idea what's going on with "American Idol."

Nashville, Tenn. — The Band Perry has performed something like 15 times over the last 10 days, finishing an 18-month saga that was the making of their second album with a grueling appearance schedule.
The brother-sister trio glammed it up at the Academy of Country Music Awards and headlined a charity concert in Las Vegas. They hit "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and taped a segment for "Dancing With the Stars" in Los Angeles, got a shoutout along the way from Justin Timberlake and landed "Pioneer" at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The album sold 129,000 copies this week, exceeding estimates by 20 percent or more.
Talk about landing the dismount.
"In this day and age of the music business to get a chance to even allow us to have the opportunity to record again is not something lost on us," Kimberly Perry said.
"Pioneer" will be one of the most talked about albums on Music Row this year.

When you're Kelly Clarkson, who's going to tell you that you can't be non-country at a country award show?
The first winner of "American Idol" remains one of the contest's most mega-successful alumni -- and to win that competition, she had to perform all sorts of music styles. She still does, as evidenced by her spot Sunday (April 7) during CBS' telecast of the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.
Her song "Don't Rush" played more as an easy-listening tune at the ACMs, with a turquoise-clad Clarkson looking completely at ease singing it that way. Its roots are as a country song, though ... to the extent that in its original incarnation on her "Greatest Hits: Chapter One" album, Vince Gill sings backup, and country veteran Dann Huff produced it.
The audience at Las Vegas' MGM Grand was likely to accept "Don't Rush" any way Clarkson wanted to do it, since...

-- The Band Perry, "Pioneer" (Republic Nashville)
Like film director Tim Burton, the Band Perry puts an entertaining spin on the darker aspects of life and love. With their second album "Pioneer," singer Kimberly Perry and her brothers Neil and Reid continue to blend sinister and innocent in deliciously fresh ways.
The trio's new work highlights just how well-developed they've become as songwriters – they're responsible for nine of the 12 songs – and how inventive they can be with arrangements. They bring out the best in veteran producer Dann Huff, who does his best work here since helping Keith Urban create his distinctive sound.
Like Urban, The Band Perry use banjos and other string instruments to create a down-to-earth foundation on songs like the No. 1 country hit "Better Dig Two." They also like juxtaposing acoustic and electric elements, which adds texture to catchy tunes like the anthemic "I'm a Keeper" and the...

The Band Perry just celebrated “Better Dig Two,” the first single from its sophomore album going to to the top of Billboard’s Country Songs chart. [More after the jump...] Today, the sibling trio announced the title of the April 2 release will be “Pioneer,” and unveiled the album art. However, they revealed way more, including that they switched from original producer, Rick Rubin, to Nashville’s Dann Huff. "When we set out to record Pioneer, the three of us drove across the country from Greeneville to Malibu to work with one of our musical superheroes, Rick Rubin," said Reid Perry. "Our time...

Rising singer Ashlyne Huff's first foray into the dance/pop arena may be dubbed "White Flag," but according to the songstress, the track is not about giving up, but rather giving in — to awesomeness.
The Nashville newcomer recently broke down the concept of the peppy, synth-driven jam — which just hit radio airwaves — to MTV News and explained that the single has nothing to do with relinquishing control, but rather trying out something new.

Bud Prager, a longtime label executive and manager who fostered the rock bands Mountain, Foreigner and Damn Yankees, died Dec. 22 of esophageal cancer at his home in Montauk, N.Y. He was 79.
In the 1960s, the native New Yorker formed independent label Windfall Records with Felix Pappalardi, who produced the three Cream records. The record company grew into Windfall Music Enterprises, which included artist management, publishing, production and recording divisions.
Pappalardi and Prager soon brought together the players for Mountain; the band gained popularity after an appearance at Woodstock in 1969 and the single"Mississippi Queen" from its debut album the following year.
After Mountain disbanded, Prager brought together guitarist Leslie West and drummer Corky Laing of Mountain and Cream bassist Jack Bruce to form "supergroup" West, Bruce & Laing in 1972. They lasted two albums.
