In his exclusive uInterview, actor Larry Owens spoke about working with Tilda Swinton, calling her “the warmest person,” on their new film Problemista.
When asked about his most memorable moment from the shoot Owens immediately replied with “reading the script” because he feels it was where the creativity starts.
“Reading the script was the biggest moment because that’s where your imagination goes wild and that’s where the story begins.”
He continued to explain that this movie is for people who have active imaginations and that they will be able to relate to the story personally.
“It’s about like people who use their imagination and that’s going to be a lot of the audience members, who like need to hear this story but they’re hearing it from the best place,” he said.

RZA spoke about his Problemista director and castmate Julio Torres in his exclusive uInterview.
RZA spoke about the meaning of the odd film title.
“Well, by the end of the day, we all got a lot of problems,” RZA told uInterview at SXSW in Austin, Texas. “You better try to solve them, you know what I mean. And don’t be that mouse going through that maze and not figuring your way out. Take that.”
He believes that Torres has his problems figured out.
“Julio got it packed down y’all, he got it down,” he said flatly.
RZA stars as the husband of Elizabeth, played by Tilda Swinton, who is an artist who has passed away.
Torres plays Alejandro, the main character, who is an aspiring toy designer who goes on a journey trying to figure out how to stay in the United States when his visa expires. He...

Rauw Alejandro is in his post-breakup, sad boi era — and he just dropped a song dedicated to Rosalía that we could’ve all lived without. On Thursday, the Puerto Rican reggaetonero surprise-released “Hayami Hana,” dedicated to his ex-fiancée, detailing, in rap verses, the “things he wants to get off his chest” after their split.
Alejandro takes a few lines to express how much he loved his Motomami‘s “flaws and qualities,” before assuring: “I don’t blame you. The life we live isn’t for everyone: the press, social media,...

"The Mask of Zorro" is now 25 years old, though you might not know by watching it. Director Martin Campbell's 1998 film is a sexy, high-octane swashbuckler that, along with filmmaker Stephen Sommers' remake of "The Mummy," was likely responsible for the bisexual awakening of an entire generation in the late '90s. Leads Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones certainly light up the screen as newbie Zorro-in-training, Alejandro, and his predecessor's daughter, Elena, whether they're cutting a rug across the dance floor or mixing swordplay with flirtation. Then there's the breathtaking practical stunts and set pieces, which Campbell stages with the utmost elegance in collaboration with his cast and crew -- not least of all his longtime director of photography Phil Méheux, who imbues the film with a visual grandiosity befitting of a Western epic.
More than anything, it's the film's practical approach that keeps it feeling timeless. Campbell, who had...

It was revealed earlier this week that the pair — who announced their engagement in their “Beso” music video back in March — had ended their relationship after three years together.

Actor-director Julio Torres didn’t appear in-person at the Outfest screening of his upcoming comedy Problemista, but he did send a message to the audience.
“Hello, fellow queers,” Torres began in a video that played before the start of Problemista on Saturday night. Before it rolled, the Lgbtqia+ film festival in Los Angeles explained that Torres recorded the message shortly before SAG-AFTRA went on strike on July 14, with instructions to play it if the walkout prevented him from attending the event.
“If you’re seeing this, it only means one thing and that is that my union went on strike. So, I am not there [at Outfest] in solidarity,” he said. “When picking a side between fellow artists and the interest of corporations and their millionaire, billionaire CEOs, the choice was, how do you say, uh, easy.”

Following the news that Luca Guadagnino’s Zendaya-led “Challengers” is being pushed to 2024, A24 has decided to pull Julio Torres’ feature directorial debut “Problemista” from its August release date. The films are a sign of likely more delays to come as studios aren’t eager to release new films during the double strike, with actors unavailable to promote them.
Torres wrote, directed and stars in “Problemista” as Alejandro, an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador who moves to New York City to fulfill his dream. But as the time on his work visa runs out, he takes a job as an assistant to an erratic art world outcast (played by Tilda Swinton).

“Problemista” has hit a problem with its theatrical release.
Distributor A24 has officially delayed the August 4 premiere of Julio Torres’ film, which debuted at 2023 SXSW. A new release date will be determined later; the news comes after Amazon pushed back Luca Guadagnino’s “Challengers” and Lionsgate delayed the release of “White Bird.” Deadline first reported on the “Problemista” delay, which IndieWire confirmed.
Deadline first reported that A24 opted to release “Problemista” once the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved so writer/director/actor Torres and co-star Tilda Swinton could be available to do press promoting the indie film. The rollout was slated to begin with a limited release while Torres was doing a press tour with screenings and Q&As. The film will still play at a sold-out Outfest showcase on Saturday in Los Angeles.

Exclusive: In light of the current strikes, A24 is pausing the release of Julio Torres’ Problemista which was set to launch limited on Aug. 4. The new release date will be determined down the road. The studio is doing this to support filmmaker Torres, furthermore these awards-type indie movies need their stars, Tilda Swinton here, available to do press and raise such fare’s profile.

Rauw Alejandro's newly released "Playa Saturno," is the kind of album that's meant to be played on a hot summer day with the volume up, bass booming, and the sun shining. That's the perfect listening environment to enjoy it in, evoking images of palm tree lined-boulevards and gated marquesinas that were so crucial to reggaetón's evolution. Yet, these days, as the genre becomes more and more commercial, there is an ongoing polemic about where the line can be drawn between authentic reggaetón and pop music. But with "Playa Saturno," Alejandro aims to seamlessly toe that line, combining heavy-hitting beats that mine the more than two-decades-worth of the genre's history with his trademark crooner style and easy falsetto. And in the process, he proves that, despite his mainstream success, he is a reggaetonero through and through; one that truly understands the complexities of his genre and how to make people move.

“Los Espookys” creator and star Julio Torres is headed for the big screen in the charming first trailer for his new film “Problemista,” which he wrote, stars in and directed for A24.
Torres plays Alejandro, an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador who moves to New York City to fulfill his dream. But as the time on his work visa runs out, he takes a job as an assistant to an erratic art world outcast (played by Tilda Swinton).
The film is Torres’ take on the U.S. immigration system and the realities of the “American Dream,” all with his signature wit and charming comedic spin. A24 helped take the careers of Ari Aster (“Hereditary”), Lulu Wang (“The Farewell”) and Janicza Bravo (“Zola”) to new heights, and the studio is coming off massive Oscar wins for “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” so their track record certainly bodes well for Torres.

Quentin Tarantino recruited many notable actors for his third feature film Jackie Brown. The movie saw him teaming up with performers he’d never collaborated with before but always admired like Michael Keaton. But when Keaton initially heard about his role in Jackie Brown, he confided it wasn’t what he hoped it’d be at first.
Michael Keaton was initially disappointed with his role in ‘Jackie Brown’ Michael Keaton | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
For Tarantino, Keaton was the only actor he had in mind who could play the part of agent Ray Nicolette in Jackie Brown. Tarantino was determined to recruit the comic star for the movie, but Keaton didn’t share the filmmaker’s enthusiasm. Originally, Keaton turned down the offer. Tarantino believed he did so because the Batman star doubted he was a good fit for the Jackie Brown character.
But Keaton had other reservations when considering Jackie Brown.

Everyone knows the world is full of wolves waiting to devour you whole. They lurk in the shadows, haunt your dreams, and salivate as they wait for you to stumble so they can make their move. Your only choice is to grow eyes in the back of your head, remain vigilant, and prepare yourself for what may come. In A24‘s Problemista trailer, a young man faces deportation unless he can rise above adversity and find a sponsor to help stave off the government hounds.
The Problemista trailer depicts a bizarre comedy, serving as the directorial debut of Los Espookys co-creator Julio Torres. “Why are you making everything so difficult?” Julio Torres asks Tilda Swinton in the trailer for the upcoming A24 comedy Problemista. That’s the central question in the film, which centers around his character’s struggle to achieve the American Dream.
In Problemista, Torres plays an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador named Alejandro who’s struggling to make it in New York City. As his work visa runs out, Alejandro’s job as an assistant to an erratic art world pariah named Elizabeth (Swinton) is his only hope to stay in the US.
The trailer shows Alejandro’s desperation to find someone to co-sign his visa, which leads him to ask Elizabeth to be his sponsor. She agrees in exchange for helping her curate an art exhibition, which sounds easy enough, but unfortunately, Alejandro still has to jump through hoops like paying “fees to earn money.”

For a movie with a definitive title like The Extortion, director Martino Zaidelis’ latest mystery-thriller has done a really impressive job. It is about Extortion, of course, but it is so much more than that. With a running time of nearly two hours, the movie does go off the rails at times, but its landing is pretty smooth overall. Even though it ties up all the threads pretty neatly, you might feel a little lost by the end. In this recap, I will try to help you out with that by taking a closer look at The Extortion.
Spoilers Ahead
Plot Synopsis: What Happens In ‘The Extortion’?
It begins with a man named Novak randomly getting shot in broad daylight in the middle of the road. We clearly see the face of the killer, who gets away in a car. Now coming to the main plot- commercial airline pilot Alejandro...

There has been a whirlwind of breakout shonen anime during the past year and Yuji Kaku’s bold, bloody survivalist series, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, finally has a gorgeous anime adaptation courtesy of Mappa and it’s truly hit the ground running when it comes to its blade-wielding, demon-slaying, immortality-seeking mayhem. Hell’s Paradise kicks off with an explosive start as legendary assassin Gabimaru finds himself joined at the hip to his cold executioner, Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, who becomes his escort on a hunt for eternal life on an island that’s full of murderous monsters.
Audiences are already calling Hell’s Paradise one of the best anime of the season and a lot of this has to do with the effortless chemistry that’s present between this anime odd couple, Gabimaru and Sagiri. The casting of these crucial roles is paramount, but Alejandro Saab and Marisa Duran rise to the occasion and...

When it comes to live performances, Rauw Alejandro sure knows how to deliver. He goes well beyond what's generally expected of a music artist, featuring special guests and running through both recent songs and past hit-makers for nearly three hours.
But perhaps more than anything else, the Puerto Rican reggaeton and Latin trap artist puts on a show like no other because he can dance - like, really dance. Think: b-boy moves and freestyle formations. But it's not just of his own accord; like others, he has a team of creative geniuses who have helped make his star shine bright.
While Alejandro, 30, has always had a natural talent for dancing, he began honing his craft after working with the founders of the dance company Fede Enterprises, choreographers Felix "FeFe" Burgos and Denise Yuri-Disla. The married couple travel the world teaching classes and choreographing for artists, and they've undeniably helped Alejandro...

A few weeks into kicking off his "Saturno World Tour," Puerto Rican and Latin trap artist Rauw Alejandro made a show-stopping entrance to an audience of more than 15,000 people by literally zip-lining his way onto the stage - while he was fully decked out in an alien-like ensemble. On Friday, Mar. 31, the reggaetonero put on a truly extraterrestrial performance - one of two back-to-back sold-out shows at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in his hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico, where Popsugar was in attendance.
If these flashy performances were any indication, 2023 is panning out to become quite significant for Rauw Alejandro. Born Raúl Alejandro Ocasio Ruiz, the artist has been on top of his game these days. Last year, he claimed his fourth straight top 10 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart with his 2022 album "Saturno," which debuted at No. 2 on Nov. 26.

Rosalía has teamed up with her boyfriend, Puerto Rican singer Rauw Alejandro, for a new project called Rr. The three-song collection is out today, along with a music video for the single “Beso.”
“For us it’s always love first and everything else later, but we skipped that this time so we could finish Rr and share it with the world,” Rosalía said in a statement. “After more than 3 years these 3 songs are here and each one of them belongs to a different stage of love.”
Though the release marks the debut of Rr, the duo have collaborated previously. In 2021, Rosalía provided uncredited vocals on Alejandro’s song “Dile a Él.”
Earlier this year, Rosalía dropped a new solo single called “Llylm (Lie Like You Love Me).” Meanwhile, Alejandro recently launched “The Saturno World Tour,” which will take him to the US, Canada, Mexico, and Europe over the coming months.
“For us it’s always love first and everything else later, but we skipped that this time so we could finish Rr and share it with the world,” Rosalía said in a statement. “After more than 3 years these 3 songs are here and each one of them belongs to a different stage of love.”

“I feel like I’m working on this project right now so I don’t know,” he said. “I mean, yeah, getting to make something with friends and people I love and people that I really enjoy and people that I respect – this sort of like celebratory mode that this movie was made in.”
When asked what a ‘Problemista’ is, Torres explained, “I think it’s someone who likes chaos and is attracted to chaos and problems and makes art out of problems.”

In Alejandro González Iñárritu’s newest film, “Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths,” a documentarian (played by Daniel Giménez Cacho) travels to his home country of Mexico for a party in his honor and struggles with an existential crisis. For sound designer and supervisor Martin Hernandez, creating the soundscape of the film meant using audio to capture the slippery nature of memory.
“More than a mental journey, I think this is a state of mind, which is a quite different thing,” Hernandez told IndieWire Crafts and Animation Editor Bill Desowitz at IndieWire’s Consider This FYC Brunch. “A state of mind is something that lingers in your memory. It’s something that is in you a long time ago, and it transforms you. Alejandro has this idea that we are not exactly the ones in the picture of you when you were a kid. We’re different people now.
