Former Melrose Place star Thomas Calabro, who just signed on to appear as a murder suspect on Castle, will also appear in a January episode of NCIS, TV Guide reports.
He'll play Sam Feeney, a charismatic businessman who runs a high-end billiards club, and a former military officer tough enough to handle the regulars who get out of hand.
Good to see Michael Mancini's keeping busy these days. Should be a fun episode to watch. For more on TV's #1 show, check out our lengthy NCIS review from last night.

The first season of the CW's "Life Unexpected" didn't focus too much on the school life of the newly un-orphaned Lux Cassidy (Brittany Robertson), but all that could change now that she has something more fun to look at than homework.
Fancast reports that the series has tapped "Melrose Place" star Shaun Sipos for the recurring role of Eric, a new teacher at Lux's Westmonte High School. No official word yet from the network, but we'll keep you posted.
Sipos most recently played David Breck, the jewel thief with the heart of gold and the strongest link between "Melrose 2.0" and its predecessor (he was Michael Mancini's estranged son after all). He also fathered his own half-brother (we think), which is one of the many reasons he was available for this new gig.
No, there's no details on if interaction between Eric and Lux will indeed be cause for scandal,...

Oh. My. Lord!!!!!!!
The CW. If You Don't Renew Melrose Place I Will Release The Kraken. 2012. The Cloverfield Monster. Godzilla. Anything That I Can Find On Your Ass So Tough That You Will Wish Like Hell That You Would Have Never Formed As A Network To Begin With!!!!!
On to the recap.
Morgan aka The Thorn in David's Side aka Violet's Even Crazier Replacement
David is close to mending things with Lauren, but who decides to pull a Violet? Morgan. She thinks its best to have David meet her father and introduces him as her new boyfriend. Don't remember when they decided to be a couple? No? Well, neither does David. But Daddy Dearest makes it clear to David that he loves it when his daughter is smiling and tends to get homicidal when she's not. Either way is not good for David now, especially when Coal is about to have it's big reopening.

Wow.
After reading this recap, it is your duty to 1) read The People vs. Melrose Place article and 2) scream to the high heavens for Melrose Place to be renewed. That is your homework assignment, your after work special project, a part of your grocery list, whatever, just do it.
Last night set the stage for a season finale like no other. It pains me that the show only got eighteen episodes this season, but if it does get picked up for a second season, I would settle for another eighteen without a complaint in my body nor soul. But I digress… Major plot developments accrued last night and Sydney's ghost still haunts the denizens of 4616 Melrose Place; and I am sure she is cackling her ass away as she dances on top of the water in the pool. Long live the craziness that is Melrose Place. On to the recap…...

If there was any other reason to not miss Melrose Place this week other than the greatness that is the show itself, then a mini reunion of the original MP cast should've had you tuned in and glued to the seat of your comfy sofas.
The Set Up
Jonah is prepping the courtyard for a blowout party to celebrate the selling of his script. David asks Ella if Lauren has said anything about their breakup, but Lauren has remained mum. Meanwhile, Lauren and Riley are about to initiate a girls' day out, but Dr. Michael Mancini calls her in to work. Riley's day is salvaged though when Drew enlists her in helping him pick up toys for the pediatric ward at the hospital.
Amanda gets a visitor (and we get a special guest) in Jane Andrews as she comes in to check up on why the hell Amanda hasn't fired Ella yet.

If anyone thinks that Melrose Place isn't a great show as well as deserve another season, then they clearly, Clearly, missed last night's episode. The storylines are ramping up and the backstabbing and twists are phenomenal. Don't believe me? Let me count the ways by recapping.
Set Up
Everyone (sans Riley and Amanda of course) celebrates Jonah selling his screenplay at Coal, but Lauren has to leave early to do rounds. After Ella takes off to answer a call, Jonah and David discuss the absence of Riley and the convenience of Ella. Jonah mentions that while Riley was stable girl, Ella is a complete 180 of that. David advises to let things run their course.
Lauren makes it to the hospital in time to find a patient almost coding, because he was having a reaction to the penicillin that he was prescribed. And who happens to be his doctor? Michael Mancini.

Melrose Place is always pretty hit or miss, even within the same episode, or 10-minute span of an episode. It also knows what it's good at (mostly), and that's over the top drama.
With the exception of Riley's dull story line, last night's episode delivered on expectations. There's a lot to go over, so let's assess where the characters stand after "Stoner Canyon."
Dr. Drew: No, not the Dr. Drew who's trying to keep Dmx out of jail. The new doc at the hospital, played by Nick Zano, Drew Pragin. He's also a newest resident of 4614 Melrose.
We like this kid already, and not just because he's not named Auggie or Violet (although they set the bar so low, no one even bats an eye when they leave ... always a good sign).
When he's not wearing only a towel, he's clashing with Lauren at the hospital over their differing methods.

Ratings for the premiere season of Melrose Place 2.0 may not be very impressive, but that doesn't mean the primetime soap won't get a second chance to win over more viewers. At least that's what Thomas Calabro, who plays Dr. Michael Mancini, thinks... "Here's what's going on with that: We're coming back," Calabro tells us. TV Fanatic: What was your reaction when you first heard The CW was remaking Melrose Place?

TV Fanatic: And your reaction when they approached you about reprising the role of Michael?

"Melrose Place" is in for a change when it returns Tuesday, March 9 -- a "lighter, brighter, snappier show," star Thomas Calabro tells Zap2it.
When we last left "Melrose Place," the mystery of Sydney's murder had been wrapped up. Thomas Calabro's character Dr. Michael Mancini's wife Vanessa was found to be the murderess.
So is "Melrose Place" going to continue on with such a dark, mysterious undertone?
"We're going to move onto more of an episodic, three-episode-arc kind of storylines as we navigate our way towards a lighter, brighter, snappier show," Calabro says. "It's still going to have those huge, dramatic circumstances, but I believe the way it'll be handled will be a little different moving forward."
Will the lighter, brighter "Melrose" feature Dr. Michael Mancini, now that his former lover Sydney is dead and his wife is presumably in jail? "I play a substantial role in the second half of the season.

On March 16 - a week after Melrose Place returns from a three-month hiatus and bids farewell to Colin Egglesfield and Ashlee Simpson - Nick Zano debuts on the primetime soap opera as Dr. Drew Pragin.
In a new interview with TV Guide Magazine, the actor dishes on this new role and the secret Drew is withholding...
On Drew Pragin: He’s a med student who just transferred from John Hopkins to Ula hospital and is working under Michael Mancini.
On his deep, dark secret: He certainly has an agenda. And he happens to fall in love... There’s definitely some love triangles happening. And it’s all moving very quickly.
On Drew and Lauren: Lauren is a very serious character. She doesn’t have much lightness in her, whereas Drew is very light. He treats being a doctor like most people treat being a waiter. He takes it all tongue in cheek.

Did anyone think that Melrose finally ramped up the volume on the crazy last night? Well, I sure as hell did! We had a psychotic ex-boyfriend/brother, backstabbing friends, scheming fathers and scheming sons, and the search for what is slowly becoming the Holy Grail for our beloved Amanda Woodward. No not the item that she is looking for, but the reason behind her canoodling with Sydney Andrews in keeping said item. What in God's name could prompt Amanda trust Sydney of all people? Amanda is most definitely back. She officially moved in to Melrose Place last night, as the episode titled "June" concluded with Heather Locklear making this proclamation.
As for other developments? Our initial episode review touched on many of them - but the TV Fanatic staff has gathered to pick apart a few more.
Find out what topics are on the minds of our Round Table crew below, and feel free to respond with your own take on these issues...
Did Michael kill Sydney?
M.L. House: Of course not. I've watched this show from the very first episode of the original series - and of all the things you can say about Michael Mancini, he's never intentionally killed anyone.
Dr. Shepherd: No. I predict a major letdown to this storyline. Michael may have been killing Sydney with his sexual prowess in bed (as he bragged about this week), but he's a doctor.

If you were worried about Ms. Heather Locklear not sticking around "Melrose Place" for too long, fret not.
The b-tch is not only back, but here to stay, as Amanda Woodward assures the tenants of "MP" in this week's episode.
Take a look...
Ha. The new millenium "Melrose" kids be hatin' on Amanda-cakes already.
Did you see their little faces? It's like they're petrified of what's about to smack them upside the head.
Oh, and as a bonus, we've got an early look at some Michael Mancini action from this week as well.
Seems David's plan to expose Michael as Sydney's murderer -- though the mystery's got to be more complicated than that -- has hit a bit of a speed bump...
I've got my own ideas on who Sydney's actual killer is, and this clip seems to only strengthen my theory.
Any thoughts?
Won't be long now before the culprit is revealed.

Heather Locklear's return to Melrose Place this week boosted ratings, but probably not as much as theCW had hoped. Heather Locklear arrives on Melrose Place next week, and all we have to say is: Thank goodness!
The show has dragged for weeks now. No storyline stands out, largely due to the fact that Sydney's murder is no longer a mystery, due to the firing of Colin Egglesfield and Ashlee "I Suck!" Simpson.
On last night's installment - titled "Ocean" and recapped in detail on TV Fanatic - David made a move on Lauren and Jonah made amends with Riley.
Before doing so, however, he turned down the advances of Ella, which was dumb for two reasons:
Has he looked at Ella Simms?!? This is why we watch Melrose Place: for tawdry sex and immoral actions. Jonah going home to Riley instead of to a hotel with Ella isn't sweet and romantic; it's boring and lame.
At least we got to see the old, manipulative Michael Mancini back in action.

You know you're boring when the only reason people notice you're not around is a full-fledged Lapd manhunt. Yes, Auggie fled town after his tryst with Violet (understandable -- I’m still trying to get rid of the mental picture myself), off to Mexico to go “surfing.” Who did they get to fill in chopping the thyme at Coal!? The knife the cops dug up last week was the weapon used to murder Sydney and it turned out to have Auggie’s blood on it. So a ridiculously large group of cops (and did I hear a helicopter?) swarmed Melrose to find him.

So we are entering November sweeps and the fast approaching eviction of Violet Foster, MP's resident crazy red head, who seems as if she could be original series resident madwoman Kimberly's offspring more than Sydney's. Although Violet's stay was short and eerily 'sweet', she did manage to make an impact on the show by anchoring in the Flagship Crazy, which is what Melrose Place has always been known for. From seducing, then threatening, Michael Mancini with the help of energy drinks to smashing a symbolic bird's nest, Violet has broken down the door for the insane and inane to enter and stake claim to the Baton of Absurd that she will leave behind. So in celebration, I have compiled a Top Ten List of Violet's Craziest Moments So Far on Melrose Place. I just pray that The CW will include more deranged moments in their quest to lighten up the show's mood,...

One week after it is announced that Ashlee Simpson-Wentz will leave "Melrose Place," Jessica Simpson writes on her Twitter that the show is "crap."
"Catching up on MP. Who writes this crap?" Jessica wrote on her Twitter page. "I have had bad scripts to work with, but this?"
See photos of Jessica Simpson through the years
Simpson, 29, continues, crediting her sister's short-lived role for generating buzz for the show. "Thank God my sister is amazing and got you some press.

Even though there was a lot of character development on Melrose Place tonight, the episode was a tad bit tame. Just a tad. There was still a lot of crazy, a lot of zingers, and a lot of “eww”, the latter being courtesy of Violet.

As everyone knows by now, Heather Locklear is returning to Melrose Place on November 17.
But one question has remained unanswered - how will the show explain Amanda Woodward's absense? - until now.
In the 1999 series finale of the original series, Amanda and boyfriend Peter Burns faked their deaths and relocated to a tropical island.
"Michael Mancini was paid a million dollars to provide the cadavers, so Michael clearly has some experience at this whole faking death thing, which we of course have fun with," producer Todd Slavkin told TV Guide Magazine.
Slavkin added that Amanda has now grown tired of the island, along with Peter.
"She's not a gal to sit on a beach watching the waves crash," he said. "It was only a matter of time before she got bored. This is a woman who wants to be in the center of the action."

Castmembers from The CW's Melrose Place remake have said that it is "amazing" to be working with Heather Locklear. The 47-year-old, who played conniving landlady and advertising executive Amanda Woodward on the original Fox series, recently reprised her role for the November 17 episode of the reboot. Actor Sean Sipos, who portrays Dr Michael Mancini's illegitimate son David Breck, said that Locklear started filming on Tuesday, E! reports. He explained: "Today was her first day of filming. She spent so much time with that character that she must know her in and out. It must not be too big of a memory jog because she spent ten years with that character. She's gonna rock it again. "She said that not in her wildest dreams did she think Melrose would ever come back." Stephanie Jacobsen (Lauren Yung) (more)...

Amanda Woodward, how we have Missed You!!!! The bitch game has not been the same since you left and if anyone can think of one character on TV who has surpassed Amanda's soapy bitchery, please send me an email explaining your reasoning behind your choice, no matter how much I will refuse to believe such blasphemy.
Anyway folks, here is a pic of Heather back on the set in her signature miniskirt to fit her character. Her first episode airs on November 17th and will feature Josie Bissett (Jane Andrews), Thomas Calabro (Michael Mancini), Daphne Zuniga (Jo Reynolds), and Laura Leighton (Sydney Andrews). Yes a Melrose Place reunion worth foaming at the mouth over. Are you guys not excited yet!?!?!?!

Heather Locklear is coming to Melrose Place. This is clearly exciting news.
So is this: there's a lot more nudity to come on The CW drama.
Shaun Sipos - who portrays the Thomas Crown-like son of Michael Mancini, David Breck - told E! News he's already been stripping down for a few scenes.
"We do get naked," said Sipos. "They've started to stick me in my underwear and have me running around a little bit."
Stephanie Jacobsen is another actress that viewers will see in almost her full birthday suit. After all, her character of Lauren is a professional escort. Who will she sleep with? Said Jacobsen:
"Everyone! That's the whole point of my character."...

Get ready for more and more skin on the new Melrose Place. Shaun Sipos, who plays Michael Mancini's bad-boy son, David Breck, on the revived prime-time soap, tells me he's already been stripping down to his skivvies for some scenes. "We do get naked," says Sipos, 27. "They've started to stick me in my underwear and have me running around a little bit." In other words, he's been working out harder these days... "I box, but I haven't been boxing enough," he admits. "I haven't been hitting the gym enough. I really need to." Look for Stephanie Jacobsen to be one of the show's more naked players. Just like the old days, a scheming Michael Mancini was the focus of this week's Melrose Place.
This time, however, Michael came up against a new foe: his son, David. It's safe to say these relatives don't get along very well.
Also featured last night on the show: a major fight between Jonah and Riley; and a creepy incident involving Violet. Read more about each in our recap of "Grand."
We've also collected a few Melrose Place quotes from the hour. Check them out now:
Jonah: What's going on, Riley? Should I have saved the receipt for that ring? | permalink Auggie: Relationships are complicated. Cooking comes with instructions. | permalink Ella: I hope Riley likes Bar Mitzvahs and birthday parties. Because if you don't put your career first, that's all you'll have to share with her. | permalink Sydney: We both know Michael Mancini is a nobody without the .Dr in front of his name.

Things kicked off with David breaking into his dad Michael’s house, getting caught and then changing the subject to accuse his father of murder. That happens all the time at your house, right? It turns out Michael has a strong motive to kill Sydney -- after he helped her fake her own death, the police uncovered her ruse and sent Syd to prison for six years (how about an Sydney-in-Oz spin off!?). On the night of her death, Sydney threatened to expose his part in the plot to the medical board. And we previously learned in the first episode that she had threatened to tell his wife about their affair. So that's a double motive. At least Michael has some helpful distractions, such as his thieving son and aspiring doctor/call girl Lauren, who landed herself a spot on Dr. Mancini’s team. He’s already called her ambition...

"Melrose Place" is about to get deliciously ugly -- Heather Locklear will reprise her role as bad girl Amanda Woodward on the revamped series.

"Heather's involvement in the show is something we've been working on for some time as we couldn't imagine creating and producing this show without the iconic character's inclusion.

Reprising his role as Dr. Michael Mancini on "Melrose Place", Thomas Calabro says he doesn't rule out possibility of his character building a special relationship with Ashlee Simpson's Violet Foster. Only 7 minutes into the new Melrose Place, and there's already a dead body in the pool. We had high hopes that the rebooted show would build on the '90s original in terms of trashy, scandalous fun, and this pilot starts with even more of a bang. Murder? Check. Inappropriate sexual tension? Check. Prostitution? Check. Lying and blackmail? Check. Girl-on-girl action? Check. Things kicked off as a still-radiant Laura Leighton returns to the show as Sydney Andrews, who seemingly faked her own death 11 years ago -- with the help of old flame/ex-brother-in-law Michael (the also-returning Thomas Calabro) -- before returning to the infamous apartment complex as the landlord and resident cougar. Bad-boy tenant David was her latest prey. Sydney lured David over for drinks late one night and announced: "Something’s happened. I've done something really, really bad." We'll have to find out what the bad, bad thing is in flashback,...

There were plenty of twists and turns on Tuesday's premiere episode of the CW's revamped Melrose Place. Spoiler Alert: And the biggest of all was the shocking death of Laura Leighton's returning character Sydney Andrews, whose lifeless body was discovered floating in the famed apartment complex's pool. But is Sydney, who was already killed off on the original Melrose Place -- back in 1997, she was hit by a car on her wedding day -- really dead this time? "As far as I know," Leighton tells People. The actress, who filmed her latest TV death in the spring, had to keep her lips sealed all summer about Sydney's fate. "It's been difficult, but it was an important secret to keep," says Leighton, 41. "It's a lot easier now that the cat is completely out of the bag." Fear not, Sydney fans: Leighton says that while Sydney might be dead, she's still...

Melrose Place returns to the air tonight.

But the show is far from perfect. We have no idea what the network was thinking when it cast Ashlee Simpson-Wentz in the role if Violet Foster.

In a nutshell, the return of Melrose Place is some of the old and a dash of the new.
Sure, there's the customary bunch of twenty-something's who all dwell in an "elegant Spanish-style" apartment building in the Melrose neighborhood in Los Angeles. Back from the iconic 90s series are Sydney Andrews (Laura Leighton) and Michael Mancini (Thomas Calabro). Sydney is Melrose Place's new landlady, and she described her character as "doomed to be the center of controversy" - even at 40. And right off the bat, we know that she started an affair with Mancini's son, David Breck (Shaun Sipos). Fortunately, both father and son know the extent of Sydney's blackmailing capacity, but their situation are in no way cozy.

I've noticed something about CW shows that the new Melrose Place pilot only seems to confirm: the pilot episodes of CW shows are filled – positively Filled – with (current) pop songs. In the first three minutes of the episode alone you'll listen to "Let it Rock" and "Poker Face". In the first three minutes. I noticed this in the pilot for The Beautiful Life and I remember it from the 90210 pilot in 2008.
[Warning! This review will contain spoilers] I'm not crazy about the rebotted 90210, because I was a fan of the original version in the 1990s (at least until the end of season 4). So I had no idea that Sydney Andrews (Laura Leighton) was supposed to be dead at the series end of the original show. How did she survive to live another day in this updated version?...
