Just in time for Halloween comes this bizarre story about a 41-year-old man in Alagoinhas, Brazil, who rudely interrupted a funeral -- the nerve! -- except that it was his own funeral.
According to the Associated Press, police say that Jose Marcos Araujo identified a body at the morgue as being that of his brother, Gilberto. He then took the body to his mother's house for Gilberto's wake.
"The confusion started when news started circulating that a car washer had been shot dead," Jose Marcos' wife, Ana Paula, says. "Police called my husband and told him that his brother had been killed and his body was at the morgue."
Police inspector Roberto Lima calls the mix-up "understandable," since "the two men closely resembled each other and both worked as car washers."
Lima says the man whose body was misidentified was named Genivaldo Santos Gama.
