James Ellroy dedicated his book "The Cold Six Thousand" to his friend Bill
Stoner.
Is a close friend of famous crime novelist James Ellroy. The two met during
the investigation of the unsolved murder of Jean Ellroy, which served
as the basis of Ellroy's non-fiction book "My Dark Places".
Worked in the Unsolved Homicide Division of the Los Angeles County
Sheriff Department.
Among his assignements in LASD, he served as a Gang Enforcement Officer
in O.S.S. unit (Operation Safe Street) and as a Homicide Investigator.
He is a veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department.
