Is The Good Doctor finally getting back on track now that the series is ending?
The Good Doctor Season 7 Episode 1 was one of the strongest stories we've had in years. Shaun and Lea's conflict over Steve's schedule didn't take over the entire hour and complemented the main story nicely.
And Morgan was a lot more tolerable than usual, too. If this farewell season stays focused on change and growth, the series will go out on a high note.
Morgan's behavior throughout the hour was the opposite of what I expected.
She's usually fiercely committed to her path, so I predicted in my The Good Doctor Season 7 Episode 1 spoilers that she would fight bitterly with the other mother over the heart. I've never been so thankful to be wrong!
Morgan still pushed Park away, at least until he called her on it.
But she also bonded with Mrs. Pierce over their infants' need for heart surgery,...

Dr. Marcus Andrews hasn’t just forfeit his job as president of St. Bonaventure Hospital on ABC’s The Good Doctor. He’s left San Jose behind entirely.
As TVLine was first to report, original cast member (and U.S. Senate hopeful) Hill Harper exited the medical drama ahead of its seventh and final season. He was one of four remaining series regulars from The Good Doctor Season 1, including leading man Freddie Highmore (who stars as Dr. Shaun Murphy), Richard Schiff (who plays Shaun’s surrogate father, Dr. Aaron Glassman) and Chuku Modu (who reprised his role as Dr. Jared...

Hill Harper’s exit from The Good Doctor was addressed in the Season 7 premiere of the ABC medical drama.
Harper has been a main cast member since the show’s debut in 2017, playing the role of Dr. Marcus Andrews. The Season 6 finale of the series set up Harper’s departure after Dr. Andrews resigned as president.
In a scene from the first episode of the final season, Dr. Andrews’ whereabouts were noted in a moment between Elfina Luk’s Nurse Dalisay Villanueva and Christina Chang’s Dr. Audrey Lim.
“Marcus sends greetings from Spain,” Villanueva tells Dr. Lim.
“Oh! I thought he was at a meditation retreat in Vietnam,” Dr. Lim adds.
Villanueva responds, “He was and now he’s walking the Camino de Santiago.”
Watch the scene in the video posted below.
Harper announced last year he was making a run for a U.S. Senate seat in the state of Michigan.

The Good Doctor returns for one final season, and spoilers suggest it'll be more like the way it used to be.
In recent years, the show has morphed into a relationship drama centered around Shaun and Lea's constant clashes, with some Glassman drama thrown in.
There will still be plenty of that on The Good Doctor Season 7 Episode 1, but those subplots appear to be mixed into a solid medical storyline.
According to spoilers, Morgan's baby needs a new heart valve -- and someone else's needs the same thing.
This set-up reminds me of years ago on Chicago Hope when Mandy Patinkin's character wanted to use a brain-dead baby's heart to save another child, but the mother wasn't ready to admit her newborn had no chance of survival.
But in this case, one of the mothers is Morgan, and both mothers have a baby who is alive but struggling.

Using her true powers may be the only way to protect those around her…and her own life!” (Ize Press)

It's always sad when a beloved TV series announces it is ending, and it's doubly heartbreaking that so many are reporting final seasons now that the writer's strike is settled.
First, Blue Bloods and now The Good Doctor -- two landmark series with big fanbases.
That's right -- The Good Doctor Season 7 will be the series' swan song. Although unsurprising, considering the series' sudden move to Tuesdays after being a fixture on Monday nights for the past seven years, it's still sad. Yet, in some ways, it's past time for this doctor show to fade to black.
The Good Doctor's original premise excited me.
As an autistic person, I'm always curious about how TV plans to represent neurodiverse characters. In this case, the series got off to a rocky start, but I appreciated that the focus was on Shaun and not on how tragic it was for everyone else...

Sweet Home 2 is not without its surprises, but the biggest one comes right at the end of the series, when a very unexpected character makes a return. Trudge ahead only if you’re ready for some massive spoilers. At the end of Sweet Home season 1, things were quite uncertain for Eun-Hyuk, whose nose began to bleed before Green Home apartments’ big collapse. We assumed he either turned or died under the rubble. At the end of season 2, we learn that it was neither, but he essentially became a monster larva. As the credits are about to roll, a naked being falls out of one of the strange monster cocoons, struggles to stand, and then walks towards the camera. It’s Eun-Hyuk, and he breaks the fourth wall, smirking at us through the screen, establishing his presence in season 3 as somewhat important.

At the end of the second season of the highly anticipated Sweet Home, we get a glimpse of what’s to come in the summer of 2024. While there’s more than one unexpected plot twist, this revelation entirely changes our perspective on the series. Yi-Kyung’s fiancé is still alive! Well, he’s not technically alive as an ordinary human, but he’s still around in a monster-human state, and now they both can be a monster couple with their monster daughter! Of course, that would be a bizarre turn of events because Yi-Kyung absolutely despises the monsters, and in her new half-monster and half-human state (literally), she is still in the same state of mind.
In Sweet Home Season 1, it was revealed that Yi-Kyung was engaged to Sang-Won, who worked at a government-run laboratory. In the series, it was suggested that Sang-Won was the first one to find out about the “Crucru,...

Sweet Home 2 has, unfortunately, left many fans yearning for the captivating balance that made the first season a fantastic blend of horror and emotional resonance. The initial season effortlessly captured our attention with its masterful mix of spine-chilling moments and heartfelt emotions. Regrettably, Sweet Home 2, much like the underwhelming Peninsula (the Train to Busan sequel that we pretend doesn’t exist), falls short of establishing meaningful connections between its characters and the audience. In a somewhat ironic twist, the very aspect that the first season executed so brilliantly seems to be a missed opportunity in the second installment. The narrative introduces a slew of new characters into the mix, and although many fade into the background of our memories, Chief Ji stands out. Her character arc unfolds progressively throughout the show, adding a layer of intrigue, even if it may not be in a positive light. While Sweet Home 2 may...

Episode 7 has got to be the least entertaining of the lot in Sweet Home 2, even though it gives us a few answers. It’s a longer episode and mostly shows us everyone and their motivations. This season doesn’t allow us a chance to get intrigued enough by all the new characters to feel for them when they’re dying or losing faith in humanity. The only characters we do care about barely have any screen time (which is a real shame), or their stories are dragged on till the end of time to fizzle out, lacking any kind of emotional effect. Still, we trudge on, wanting to know what’s to come next.

Sweet Home 2 Episode 5 ended with Eun-Yu getting tempted by the mystery kid to find Eun-Hyuk. She thinks he’s the one who has been saving her all this time from all the dangerous situations she puts herself in. Here’s another episode of Sweet Home 2 with no mention of Hyun-Su or Ui-Myeong (disappointing). The new season of Sweet Home is shaping up to be rather flat in comparison to the first one, which was so filled with emotion and realness. Often, what South Korean media does so well also ends up being their weakness. It’s always a repetition of the same cycle after the monsterization occurs. It’s humans that are the problem, we know. Tell us something new. Some subplots are stretched too thin and don’t hold up at all, while other, more exciting ones get neglected for who knows what reason. We haven’t had a chance to really get to know any of the new characters, and more stories get added to the mix.

It’s time to remember again that no one is special in Sweet Home, and anybody can die at any time. Episode 3 has got to be one of the more difficult ones to watch, especially because of Yi-Kyung’s subplot. We’d say to put your tray away while watching this one. Episode 2 ended on a terrible note, with Su-Yeong dying at the hands of the monster Jae-Hwan. Additionally, Ji-Su has lost her hearing because she decided to be the one to save the rest of them selflessly. Ui-Myeong visited an old friend, and Yi-Kyung is finally where she has wanted to be this whole time. Dr. Lim is kidnapped by some people who look like they are in the military but may not be.

In episode 1 of Sweet Home 2, we got a recap of whoever is still around and what the military is up to. Yi-Kyung is making her way quickly to her fiancé after hearing that those who were considered special infectees are now useless to the scientists in charge of testing them. On the other hand, Eun-u gets her hands on a gun and uses it to threaten some soldiers (who saved her life) to escort her to a specific location. One of the soldiers seems to be interested in really helping the Green Home gang, while the other doesn’t care for anything but killing the monsters and self-survival. Emma Stone stopped by New York Film Festival to make a surprise appearance at the premiere of “Bleat,” an unconventional short film by Yorgos Lanthimos.
Stone and Lanthimos just reunited on “Poor Things,” a Frankenstein-esque black comedy that’s received some of the best reviews of the year. But the ongoing SAG strike has prevented Stone from talking about the movie, which is backed by Searchlight, during stops at Venice or New York film festivals.
Since “Bleat” has secured an interim agreement, Stone was permitted to talk about the short film following Wednesday night’s screening at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. “Go SAG!” she cheered as she took the stage with Lanthimos. The two were lively and self-deprecating as the conversation, moderated by NYFF artistic director Dennis Lim, dug deep into “Bleat,” and only “Bleat.”

The 61st New York Film Festival opens Friday on a high note, with advance sales of passes and tickets at kickoff up 50% from last year, which was a record-breaking fest. It’s also a day of heavy rains and flooding in New York City.
“We have never seen [sales] numbers like this,” said artistic director Dennis Lim as the curtain is still planning to rise tonight at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall with Todd Haynes’ May December, followed by two weeks and 111 films from 45 countries.
The opening comes on a day where many subway lines are shuttered and NYC Mayor Eric Adams has declared a state of emergency, urging New Yorkers not to travel if possible. NYFF organizers says no changes so far to the opening-night schedule.
Staffers and talent arriving for a May December press conference reported that taxis were even more scarce than usual amid the rainfall.

Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro” and the 2023 edition of the New York Film Festival are officially two little ducks in a pond.

Maestro, the Leonard Bernstein biopic starring and directed by Bradley Cooper, will have the Spotlight Gala slot at this fall’s 61st New York Film Festival.
The Netflix film’s North American premiere on October 2 will come a few weeks after its world premiere in Venice. Netflix and New York have had an active relationship in recent years, with recent editions of the festival including films like The Irishman, Marriage Story, White Noise, The Power of the Dog and Roma occupying tentpole slots.
Lincoln Center’s Geffen Hall, which reopened last year after a $550 million renovation, will host the premiere. The venue is home to the New York Philharmonic, of which Bernstein was the longtime conductor.

Could Lea be pregnant?
Spoilers for The Good Doctor Season 6 Episode 9 say only that she gets news that scares her. But since it appears she has another doctor's visit, a surprise pregnancy could be in the offing.
This episode is The Good Doctor's winter finale; what better cliffhanger could there be than Lea getting pregnant when she recently learned that it would be dangerous for both her and the baby?
Shaun didn't seem convinced that pregnancy was such a terrible idea. He told Lea there was a 67 percent chance that she could carry to term despite what her Obgyn said.
Although those sound like good odds on paper, this isn't something Lea will want to take a chance on. There's a chance of about a third that there's a serious problem with the pregnancy that could put Lea's life at risk. She might have to terminate her pregnancy to survive.

Trauma changes people's lives. It becomes an invisible force that shapes decisions and makes its presence known at inconvenient times.
TV often doesn't get it right, but The Good Doctor Season 6 Episode 8 did a beautiful job. Not only did Morgan push a patient to get a rape kit because of Morgan's own trauma, but Shaun admitted that Lim's attack triggered his memories of Steve's death.
Kudos to The Good Doctor for providing a more realistic depiction of trauma than the "flashy" stories TV shows often go for!
That doesn't mean I like Morgan any better than I ever did.
After she told her story, I understood why she was being so damn pushy, but she was her usual, obnoxious self throughout most of the hour.

A harrowing hour of The Good Doctor culminated in a devastating reveal involving one of St. Bonaventure’s own.
Throughout “Sorry, Not Sorry,” Morgan encouraged her patient, assault victim Toni (played by Y: The Last Man‘s Sydney Ozerov-Meyer), to have a rape kit done, but Toni was adamant that she didn’t want one. It wouldn’t undo the damage, she argued, and she didn’t want to “chase the bogeyman” responsible for her trauma.
