Rating: 1.5 out of 5 stars
NeverDead has a wonderful, completely bonkers central premise, which redefines the established face of regeneration allowing some seriously gory, logic-defying behaviour, like removing limbs and using them as weapons, bowling with your own head and everything in between. But the execution, and the entertainment factor never quite match up to the ideas behind the game.
This Constantine on acid story is the fruit of a collaboration between Metal Gear Solid’s Shinta Nojiri and English studio Rebellion, and follows Bryce Boltzmann – a demon-hunting immortal, cursed to live forever – to be a demon in body but not in mind. The plot basically facilitates Boltzmann’s supernatural abilities – rather than die from damage incurred in battle and then regenerating without effort in the same vein as most other modern Fp shooters, NeverDead asks the player to work for their health, collecting limbs and occasionally employing them for things other than their primary purpose.

NeverDead has been given a release date. Konami announced that the horror-themed action adventure will be released on February 3 in Europe. Co-developed by Rebellion Software, NeverDead sees demon hunter Bryce Bolzmann use his immortality to his advantage by detaching his limbs. NeverDead is the brainchild of Shinta Nojiri, who was an assistant director on Policenauts and scriptwriter for most of the Metal Gear Solid series. Nojiri said: "For NeverDead, we've gone all-out to change (more)...

There were lots of huge horror-themed video games on display at this year's E3 that have been covered here relentlessly: Twisted Metal, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, Rise of Nightmares, just to name a few. In celebration of the dark days ahead, we figured we'd show a little love to the other games that made a big buzz along with some of the lesser known ones you should keep an eye out for.
NeverDead (Konami) - Directed by Shinta Nojiri, NeverDead follows the story of Bryce Boltzmann, a wisecracking demon hunter who was cursed with immortality 500 years earlier by a demon king. Along with a private investigator named Arcadia, Bryce spends his time hunting demons for money and revenge while trying to stop a demonic invasion that has ravaged the city.
