Season 50 of “Survivor” may be four seasons away, but the planning is officially underway.
During a “Survivor” FYC event on Saturday night at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles, host and showrunner Jeff Probst announced that the landmark season will feature all returning players.
“’Survivor 50′ is coming down the corner. The truth is, we really do focus on 47 and 48, that’s what we’re heading out to shoot next. Then we have to shoot 49. But we know 50 is coming, so I am curious, is there a feeling? Should 50 be another season with new players and don’t make it a big deal?”
After most of the audience members yelled out, “no,” he asked, “Or should it be returning players?”
The crowd then applauded, leading to Probst making quite the announcement. “In the spirit of, sometimes letting the game be in the hands of the fans, I feel like — and there a...

Following Dee Valladares‘ triumphant victory over Austin Li Coon and Jake O’Kane during the three-hour finale of “Survivor 45,” Gold Derby ran a poll asking fans to name who Really deserved to win. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the plurality of our poll respondents agreed with the actual results of the CBS reality TV show. Yep, Dee deserved to win, according to 40% of viewers. Meanwhile, Austin nabbed 31% support, and Jake garnered the remaining 29%.
Dee, Austin and Jake outlasted all of the other players during this 45th season, including fourth-place finisher Katurah Topps (who lost the fire-making challenge) and fifth-place contender Julie Alley (who was the last person voted out). Dee now goes down as “Survivor’s” 18th female winner ever, compared to 27 male champions.

“The tribe has spoken” became “Julie has spoken” in Survivor Season 45 Episode 11. After catching wind that she was on the chopping block, Julie Alley played an idol to cancel out every vote against her in Tribal Council. Since every other vote was cast for her, this gave Julie’s vote immense power because it was the only vote that counted. She sent Emily Flippen packing just one night after she staged the stunning Bruce Perreault blindside. It was a sad ending to one of the fan-favorite arcs of the season, but Emily tells TV Insider that she doesn’t see how that Tribal Council could have gone any other way. Emily’s elimination in the December 6 episode was the result of a major mistake made by Austin Li Coon, one of her two closest allies (the other being Drew Basile). Austin and Dee Valladares have been getting closer with every episode,...

On Wednesday’s 11th episode of “Survivor 45,” the core four alliance of original Reba members settled in to their position as the dominant majority within the remaining tribe of seven. Amidst a commitment to remain Reba strong through the end of the game, Emily Flippen became the group’s prime target for the next vote specifically because of her pivotal role in the previous blindside. Despite what looked like a unified effort to flip the game against “Mama J,” Emily fell victim to an idol play that sent her to jury with only a single vote cast against her. Read on for Emily’s “Survivor 45” exit interview from the end of the episode.

One might think that “Survivor 45” has opened up now that the players found a way to finally oust their unanimous target Bruce Perreault, but a core four of original Reba tribe members could control the game through to the end. Drew Basile, Austin Li Coon, Julie Alley and Dee Valladares have remained strong as an alliance and have a majority four votes together while Katurah Topps and Jake O’Kane are remnants of a Belo tribe left in ruins and Emily Flippen fights for autonomy as the last standing Lulu player.
With idols still in pockets and players eager to leave their strategic mark on the competition, the game will either sail lazily on with Reba staying strong or it will swiftly open up on the heels of betrayal. Can Dee and Austin keep their group together or will Katurah and Emily find more cracks to expose? Below are our power...

On Wednesday’s ninth episode of “Survivor 45,” lines had been drawn among original tribal lines and that meant that old Belo was left with the short end of the stick. When Jeff Probst dropped the bomb at the immunity challenge that three players would potentially lose their vote, how the next vote would go was left up in the air. With immunity falling once again around the unanimous target’s neck, Kendra McQuarrie became the next best thing for the old Reba alliance. Read on for Kendra’s “Survivor 45” exit interview from the end of the episode.
Prior to the immunity challenge that gave Bruce Perreault safety for the second cycle in a row, he was the unanimous target among a tribe of people itching to flush his idol out of the game. The challenge also determined that both Emily Flippen and Katurah Topps lost their votes, leaving the vote open to only seven ballots.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Survivor Season 45 Episode 9, “Sword of Damocles.”] Getting Bruce Perreault out and breaking up the Reba alliance are proving to be Survivor 45’s biggest battles. For two weeks in a row now, Bruce has been on the chopping block but curtailed those plans by winning individual immunity. In both Episode 8 and Episode 9, a Belo woman has been sent home in his place. When Kaleb Gebrewold tried to break up the Reba alliance in Episode 7, he was eliminated. As of Episode 9, the Reba foursome is in an impressively strong spot. Their unbreakable bond and majority alliance allows them to set their sights on a target and eliminate it. With Bruce ineligible for votes, they set their eyes Jake O’Kane and Kendra McQuarrie, who each did something to piss off a Reba member. Jake tried to get Julie out ...

Last week on “Survivor 45,” viewers (and a few castaways) witnessed one of the most shocking blindsides of the new era as Kellie Nalbandian was ousted over Jake O’Kane. Jake went into tribal council so convinced he was going home that he played his Shot in the Dark, which resulted in a “Not Safe” scroll. But still, he ended up staying in the game when the four ex-Reba members plus the sole remaining ex-Lulu player (Emily Flippen), banded together to send home Kellie. “Survivor” fans have been clamoring for the return of the auction since Season 30: World Apart, which aired in 2015. Well, it’s baaack! Only now, the classic auction has been slightly altered with a trio of fun twists to keep things interesting for the new players. As host Jeff Probst explains to the “Survivor 45” castaways during the November 15 episode, “We have updated the auction for the new era in three ways.”
The first twist is “the money,” Jeff tells the players. In the past, the contestants were given dollar amounts that they could use to purchase items at the auction. Now, prior to the event, they had to find the money themselves in bamboo tubes hidden in the jungle. The most money found is a whopping $900 for Dee Valladares, followed by $700 for Austin Li Coon and Kellie Nalbandian, $520 for Drew Basile, $500 for Emily Flippen, $480 for Katurah Topps, $420 for Julie Alley,...

It was clear last week on “Survivor 45” that Kaleb Gebrewold had his work cut out for him – after being the first player to successfully play his Shot in the Dark and negating the entire merged tribe’s 11 votes against him – if he was going to survive another tribal council in the game. Alas, he could not get it done, though his final nail in the coffin turned out to be an unexpected factor in one player that he was close to, ultimately deciding the direction of the game. In addition, there was another split tribal council with a twist in the jury phase with another castaway being sent home. Let’s break down all the social dynamics in the Top 10 as the merge officially begins.

Following the double eliminations of Sifu Alsup and Kaleb Gebrewold from “Survivor 45,” only four males still remain in the game: Austin Li Coon, Bruce Perreault, Drew Basile and Jake O’Kane. Comparatively, there are still six females left: Dee Valladares, Emily Flippen, Julie Alley, Katurah Topps, Kellie Nalbandian and Kendra McQuarrie. In the upcoming eighth episode, a possible “woman’s alliance” is thrown out as the ladies wonder if they should start “picking off” the men one at a time. Watch the “Survivor 45” sneak peek video above.
It’s the morning of Day 15 at the merged tribe, and Kendra whispers to her fellow girls sitting in the shelter, “We’re the majority in the game right now.”
That prompts Dee to wonder aloud, “I don’t know, maybe we should talk.”

With 10 players remaining in the quest to become “Survivor 45” champ, the competition finally turns to a truly individual game when Episode 8, “Following a Dead Horse to Water,” airs on Wednesday, November 15. In the last two weeks, the merged tribes of Belo, Reba and Lulu had group immunity or were split when it came to the vote, so this will be the first time that every player is vulnerable to elimination. Original Reba, consisting of Austin Li Coon, Dee Valladares, Drew Basile and Julie Alley, have a numbers advantage so long as original Lulu member Emily Flippen and Belo turncoat Katurah Topps continue to work with them. That would leave the remaining Belo players, Bruce Perreault, Jake O’Kane, Kellie Nalbandian and Kendra McQuarrie, as the odd ones out.
Whether tribal lines stick and for how long, there are bound to be peaks and valleys in each player’s struggle to gain power in the game.

‘Survivor 45’ episode 7 recap: Which 2 people were voted out in ‘The Thorn in My Thumb’? [Live Blog]
Heading into the seventh episode of “Survivor 45,” the three tribes had finally come together in a merge following the ouster of J. Maya Krishnan-Jha. (after Kaleb Gebrewold negated a record 11 votes with his Shot in the Dark). That left just 12 people still in the game. But that number was about to be cut down to 10 after the castaways learned that this week would be a double elimination.

“Survivor 45” made history once again last week as Kaleb Gebrewold successfully played his Shot in the Dark to a unanimous vote against him, breaking the record with 11 votes cast for him, two more than when Kelley Wentworth back in “Survivor: Second Chance” played an immunity idol negating nine votes against her. Let’s break down what events transpired that led up to this groundbreaking moment as the tribes converged to one beach.
After the ouster of Brando Meyer in the last episode, Kendra McQuarrie was on the warpath and wanted revenge on Emily Flippen for lying to her, and siding with the Reba duo of Austin Li Coon and Drew Basile. The next day, right before the boats arrived to pick the tribes up to unite with everyone, Bruce Perreault was able to find the new Lulu idol underneath the shelter and shared it with the whole tribe, minus Katurah Topps.

On Wednesday’s sixth episode of “Survivor 45,” the three tribes of Belo, Reba and Lulu joined together at one beach for the pre-merge. At the immunity challenge, the castaways were divided into two teams where seven earned immunity and a spot in the merged tribe and six others were left vulnerable to the looming vote. After a historic “Shot in the Dark” by Kaleb Gebrewold for immunity, J. Maya Krishnan-Jha became the plan B in a second vote and was eliminated from the game. Read on for J. Maya’s “Survivor 45” exit interview from the end of the episode.
On her way out, J. Maya narrated what her Tribal Council fate, summing it up as “a unanimous vote for Kaleb. He got saved through a Shot in the Dark. I guess I was the collateral damage in the re-vote.” But her impression that she was just “collateral damage” is not entirely accurate.

What a difference two episodes can make; so far in “Survivor 45,” two tight allies turned on each other, an unlikely pair emerged as a power duo, a player went from the bottom to a major deciding position, and there are new types of advantages and creative ways to retrieve idols. Let’s break down Episode 3, titled “No Man Left Behind,” and the latest from “Survivor 45” as we are about to head into our first tribe swap of the new era.
Starting with the Belo tribe, much has changed within the social dynamics with some cracks in the women’s alliance of Katurah Topps, Kellie Nalbandian and Kendra McQuarrie, with Kendra bonding with Jake O’Kane, and Kellie forming a connection with Brando Meyer, with the latter duo claiming to be in the middle deciding whether to go with the alliance of the men or the women, since Jake is also very close with Bruce Perreault.

That’s how my Thursday morning conversation with Sabiyah Broderick, the latest “Survivor” castaway to be voted off the island, began. She’s referring to her tribemate, Emily Flippen, who ultimately turned on her and wrote down her name at tribal, securing her ticket off the island.
During Wednesday’s episode, Lulu went to their third tribal council — there have only been three this season — and while Sabiyah had thought Kaleb Gebrewold was going home, she was blindsided when Kaleb and Emily both wrote her name down. (Shawn Edwards was the only one to write down Kaleb’s name.)

One of the most talked-about contestants from the “Survivor 45” season premiere was Emily Flippen of the Lulu tribe. The 28-year-old investment analyst from Maryland decided to audition for the CBS reality TV show because she got “really angry” when Mike Gabler won “Survivor 43.” Now it’s Emily who’s causing some fans’ blood to boil at home. The villainess made headlines in the first episode for the way she went after Bruce Perreault on Day 1, and for falsely accusing her tribe mates Kaleb Gebrewold and Sabiyah Broderick of lying about losing the “Sweat and Savvy” challenge.
The second episode, which airs Wednesday, October 4 on CBS, will focus more on Emily as she admits her game is “do or die right now.” Below, watch the “Survivor 45” preview video for “Brought a Bazooka to a Tea Party,” in which Emily decides to go on an idol hunt on Day 4.

Old school fans of “Survivor” fondly remember the show’s classic theme song titled “Ancient Voices,” composed by Russ Landau, that opened up every episode. The main titles were axed many years ago to make more room for on-screen story, but one contestant from Season 45 is bringing it back, acoustic style. Watch the “Survivor 45” sneak peek video below.
Bruce Perreault, who returns this season after being medically evacuated on “Survivor 44,” sings the theme song beginning at the 32-second mark of the teaser trailer. It’s all a part of his “Crazy Uncle Bruce” persona that “seems to be working out very well,” he reveals in a confessional. “I put on that smiling face. I laugh and giggle. But we have things that need to get done. They’re working at a snail’s pace,” he complains about his fellow Belo tribe mates Brando Meyer, Jake O’Kane, Katurah Topps, Kellie Nalbandian and Kendra McQuarrie.

Truth time: ‘Survivor 45’ began in messy fashion, with clashing personalities and an unexpected quit
“Survivor” is back again with its 45th season and 18 new contestants. For the first time in the history of the reality TV show, there will be 90-minute episodes throughout the entire season. That gives viewers more character game moments and tribe dynamics, which last week’s premiere delivered in messy fashion, with many clashing personalities and an unexpected quit at the end. As the three tribes form and the alliances begin on “Survivor 45,” read on as we break down the game and the hour and a half premiere.
Starting with the Belo tribe, there is the return of Bruce Perreault from last season after being medically evacuated 12 hours into the game. Despite proclaiming to his tribe that he did not want to be known as the leader out here, it was followed by him guiding the tribe and suggesting what to do, as noted by the ladies Katurah Topps, Kellie Nalbandian and Kendra McQuarrie,...

The premiere episode of “Survivor 45” aired on Wednesday night, concluding with host Jeff Probst snuffing out the torch of Hannah Rose. The 33-year old therapist from Baltimore, Maryland was the first castaway sent home after being “voted out” by the Lulu tribe. Well, she begged to go home. Did they make the right decision? And what were the dumbest, most shocking and most exciting moments of this inaugural episode of the season?

Hey, "Survivor" fans. Tonight, September 27, 2023, the premier episode 1 of Survivor's current season 45 did indeed hit the air, and we saw the first contestant get voted off at the very end, but this was an unusual vote-off. Tonight's premiere episode kicked off with the usual introductions of the new contestants. It was revealed that Bruce Perreault from last season 44 was brought back since he got injured and left early. The tribe names were announced. They are: Reba, Lulu and Belo. The first reward challenge kicked off right after the intros. During it, they had to empty a large crate of heavy sandbags and ropes. Then, they had to retrieve a key from the large crate. Next, they had to swim out to a boat and paddle it back, clip it to the large boat and climb onto it via a little rope/step latter.

Wednesday night on CBS, Jeff Probst officially lit the torch on the 45th season of “Survivor.” Just like all of the “new era” cycles, this year’s crop of 18 contestants have been divided into three tribes and come from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. Due in part to the writers’ and actors’ strikes, all episodes will be 90 minutes long this season, a first for the franchise. In the season premiere, viewers met the new castaways and found out who had the unfortunate title of being the first person voted out of Fiji.

It’s hard to imagine that 23 years later, players are still enduring a months-long casting process and flying all the way around the world just to quit the game three days later, but here we are! Welcome to the premiere of Survivor 45 which, I am sad to report, had one of the most disappointing first Tribal Councils the game has ever seen.
But before we jump too far ahead, let’s break things down from the top, including the return of Season 44’s Bruce Perreault, who was medically evacuated just hours after stepping off the boat last season. As the...
