Well, it certainly looks like Weapons of Mutant Destruction is doing a great job of creating some advance buzz, now doesn’t it? Just days ago, we previewed some of the first issues to be included in this mammoth crossover, so we can fully understand why retailers have seemingly already bought up all copies of one of the prelude chapters, Totally Awesome Hulk #19, and why it’s already scheduled for a second printing.
As is the case with any crossover of this sort, desperate times call for desperate measures – not to mention strange bedfellows – as Amadeus Cho is forced to team up with the likes of Old Man Logan, Sabretooth, Domino, Warpath, and Lady Deathstrike to battle the new Weapon X. Written by Greg Pak with art by Robert Gill and Nolan Woodard, this opening salvo is guaranteed to deliver giant-sized action with loads of intrigue.
So, if you fail...

Review – Valiant’s Book of Death #1
Valiant’s Book of Death kicks off as a bit of a mixed bag.
There’s a lot I like here but what doesn’t vibe with me is hard to shake and is directly related to how amazing I just told you the Book of Death tagged Legends of the Geomancer #1 was.
Let me start with the good. I want to warn you now of spoilers from Book of Death #1, and also information they gave last month about the series’ villain.
As an original Valiant fan you are immediately fanning the proper flames of interest anytime you echo something I tend to associate with what makes Valiant great. Anytime you have a plot device that offers glimpses of the future to come you are tugging on my Rai #0 strings, a landmark comic for a previous Valiant universe and to a lesser degree an era of comics.

In comics news this week, Mark Doyle has been appointed the new Batman Group Editor at DC Comics, replacing Mike Marts. Marts has gone to work for Marvel as a result of DC’s announcement that they will be moving its New York office to Burbank, California in 2015. Doyle is currently a Vertigo editor who was most responsible for bringing Scott Snyder into DC after editing his American Vampire series, and also edits Snyder’s other Vertigo series, The Wake. Though Doyle is excited about the promotion, he will only be the editor for a year as he will not be moving to California in 2015.
Snyder is also pleased with the appointment, tweeting that “Gotham couldn’t be in better hands for Batman’s 75th”, referring to 2014 being Batman’s 75th anniversary since he first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939.
Valiant are doing a similar scheme to Marvel’s All-New Marvel Now!

Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye # 24
Written by James Roberts and John Barber
Art by Atilio Rojo, James Riaz, Nick Roche, Livid Ramondelli and Robert Gill
Published by Idw Comics
The review for last month’s issue of “Transformers: More than Meets the Eye”, the second part in the twelve-issue “Dark Cybertron” storyline that crosses over both ongoing Transformers titles, began with a pithy, if strained, analogy comparing the experience of reading the issue to being caught between two conversations of vastly different degrees of entertainment. While it would be possible to cook up a similar analogy to describe this latest issue, possibly something involving being forced to alternate between a well-crafted club sandwich and a stale Pb&J but with no J, but it would be far easier to simply say that everything glaringly wrong and unsatisfying that was present last time around is still there.

Now here's something you don't see every day. Arizona Cardinals rookie Robert Gill is getting ready for training camp with a vengeance, as evidenced by some gotta-see-it-to-believe-it footage of him sprinting on a treadmill at the rate of 25 miles per hour. And for the record, the 29-year-old Gill is a human being, not a gazelle. Gill, a former Arena League player, was signed by the Cardinals after a day of minicamp this summer. The team officially reports for training camp in Glendale, Ariz., on July 25. "There are three or four guys that have some speed," Cardinals coach Bruce Arians told AZCentral Sports last month. "Bobby Gill came up and made some really...
