As The Voice completed its Season 24 Playoffs Tuesday evening, John Legend’s team members competed to remain in the contest after their coach cut his lineup in half. Did he make better selections than, say, Niall Horan (whose elimination of Alexa Wildish is sure to irritate me all the way through the finals) and Gwen Stefani (who kept Bias and Tanner Massey instead of Stee and Rudi)? Read on and find out!
Azán, “Adorn” — Grade: A | I’m giving John’s Super Save artist an “A” for her Miguel cover even though I kinda wasn’t crazy about it. She sang beautifully.

Tears for Fears have shared the previously unreleased “Townhouse live jam” version of their hit single “Woman in Chains,” taken from the band’s upcoming five-disc reissue for their 1989 album The Seeds of Love.
The unearthed spin on the track features gospel singer Oleta Adams, who also guested on the Seeds of Love version. During the London’s Townhouse studio jam session, the band played loose yet faithful renditions of the Seeds of Love tracks.

Tears for Fears have shared the previously unreleased “Rhythm of Life,” the first offering from their upcoming Seeds of Love box set.
The demo was recorded by frontman Roland Orzabal and keyboardist Nicky Holland in 1986, but the track didn’t make it onto the 1989 album. Instead, Orzabal gave it to singer Oleta Adams — who sings on the opening track “Woman in Chains” — for her 1990 album Circle of One, which he produced.
“Climbin’ every mountain, always killing time/Count the cost as days go by,” he sings over a steady groove.

Tears for Fears’ third album, 1989’s The Seeds of Love — which contained the hits “Sowing the Seeds of Love” and “Woman in Chains” — will be expanded into a five-disc box set this fall. The record was one of the band’s most ambitious studio outings, as it followed up their mega-selling Songs From the Big Chair — it reportedly cost more than £1 million to make.
The box set will feature the original album, remastered, singles and B-sides, alternate mixes, demos and outtakes. Twenty-two of the tracks are previously unreleased. There will...

As it must do every week, “The Masked Singer,” has kicked off another contestant and this week it was the Mouse, who was revealed to be legendary singer Dionne Warwick. Warwick is now the fifth performer to be eliminated from the show’s third season, joining Lil Wayne (Robot), Drew Carey (Llama), Chaka Khan (Miss Monster) and Tony Hawk (Elephant) in failing to properly wow the show’s audience. But which one of these rejects didn’t really deserve to be kicked off? Which one do You think is most deserving of a second chance at this competition? Vote in our poll below.
Warwick used her trademark pipes to sing “Get Here” by Oleta Adams in her debut. She followed that up with her version of “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” by her former touring partner, Natalie Cole.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 3, episode 5 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired Feb. 26 on Fox.
Time for Dionne Warwick to walk on by. The legendary singer is the latest celebrity to be revealed and sent packing in another “The Masked Singer” heartbreaker. Warwick, who was disguised as the Mouse, performed “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love),” by Natalie Cole — and in a first this season, the majority of the panelists figured out who was under the mask.
“I think because of my distinctive voice, people recognized me immediately,” Warwick told Variety. “This is the only thing I can’t disguise, my singing voice.”
Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Nicole Scherzinger and guest panelist Gabriel Iglesias figured out it was Warwick. Ken Jeong went with another singing icon, Tina Turner. Add Warwick to the list of Season 3 stars voted off, including Lil Wayne, Drew Carey,...

The five remaining contestants in Group B took to the stage again on episode 5 of season 3 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired Wednesday (February 26) on Fox. Last week saw the first (and last) appearance of the sixth contender from this group: the Elephant lost the studio audience vote and was revealed to be skateboarding legend Tony Hawk.
His one-time competitors are disguised as the Banana, Frog, Kitty, Mouse and Taco. We rewatched all of their performances from last week as well as their clues videos. Things are heating up on The Voice! Season 15 premiered on Monday, Sept. 24, and the competition is already intense. If you’re looking for a contestant to root for this season, look no further than 38-year-old Patrique Fortson. The soul singer from Atlanta, Georgia, wowed the coaches during his audition and even made Adam Levine and Jennifer Hudson turn around their chairs. Watch Patrique's full audition in the video below! Patrique explained that he started singing when he was just 4 years old, signed a record deal at age 6, and made his first album at age 7. He had a lot of success at such a young age, but “life happens and you have to put food on the table,” so he changed career paths to work at an insurance company. However, Patrique’s passion has always been singing, and he wanted to coaches to know that. He said he picked the song...

"The Voice" has decided that for Season 6, the Battles will continue for a second round, which will be the last elimination via the coaches before the live shows where America starts voting.
The twist to this second round is that the song will be left up to the two singers to decide (from a list), which could provide some fireworks. Also, each coach has one steal to use in this round.
Battle 1: Audra McLaughlin vs. Megan Ruger (Team Blake)
Song: "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus
They both really blow it out, though Audra hits some stratosphere-level high notes. Good lord, that girl has some pipes. But then no sooner do I type that then Megan gets her big belting note too. It's a very strong battle, tough choice. Megan's stage presence is bothersome to me, does that bug anybody else? Don't act out the words, stop bopping side-to-side. We...

Simon Cowell has revealed that he feels more relaxed in his career compared to previous years.
The Britain's Got Talent and X Factor judge told BBC Radio 2's Steve Wright that he doesn't feel the same kind of pressure he did when he first launched Pop Idol in 2001.
"I used to have more pressure, I took it more seriously years ago and got stupidly competitive about it.
"Now I have a more balanced perspective. I genuinely consider myself lucky everyday that we get away with this and people enjoy what we do.
"Then you get more relaxed about it and you have a good time being a judge on the show and not become a producer at the same time, because you literally drive yourself crazy."
Talking about the debate on whether children and other vulnerable people should take part in TV talent shows, Cowell said: "You take every person as an individual.

Ahhh, The Voice. How I love watching thee and thy five million commercials. Week 3 of The Voice was ripe with tears, attitude and show stopping performances. One of the funniest acts on Saturday night’s X factor show is Scottish duo G&S.
Peter, 37, and Caroline, 21 auditioned for Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Geri Halliwell in Glasgow this June and called themselves G&S. We were a bit baffled by the name at first, until they explained that it stands for Gay and Straight – Peter is gay and Caroline is straight.
The pair took to the stage to perform Glee’s Don’t Stop Believing’ but the main problem lay in the fact that though Peter was incredibly bubbly and energetic (and hilariously funny!), he really couldn’t sing.
After Louis Walsh compared them to a ‘pair of cats being strangled,’ Geri Halliwell spotted that while Peter was completely tuneless, Caroline could actually hold a note. She asked if the pair would split and allow Caroline to audition alone.

The pressure is on the top 10 "American Idol" men. The first week of American Idol's season 9 semifinals resulted in some strange days indeed...most peculiar mama (nothing like dropping a random John Lennon reference on a Sunday morning.) But my co-host Missy Schwartz and I have tried to make sense of the insanity. How in the blankity blank did Jermaine Sellers violently assault the melody of Oleta Adams' "Get Here," yet live to survive another week? Are Siobhan Magnus and Lee Dewyze the season 9 dark horses, even if one of the two contestants doesn't know what, exactly, that means? Was there a common thread among the first four semifinalists eliminated?...

Jermaine Sellers was the third contestant to take to the stage on last night’s American Idol live show. He chose to sing ‘Get Here’ by Oleta Adams which is a fairly common song on these type of shows, so it was hard for him to make his version stand out.
We found the arrangement of the song a little off and though at times he sounded great, there were just as many times when he was flat, off key and warbling.
Simon Cowell hated Jermaine’s performance saying that he may have ‘blown his chances’ on the show by singing a song so old. Kara DioGuardi told him to make his vocal runs ‘more meaningful’ and agreed with Simon that the song was too old for him.
Ellen DeGeneres wasn’t convinced either, she said:

Song: "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson
Verdict: The Wizard of Odd
Todrick opened the show on an offbeat note by putting Kelly Clarkson's signature anthem in a blender with fuzzed out synths, jangly African guitars, Morris Day R&B, atonal background singers, gospel vocal inflections and a dollop of a spoken word. It was as close to a Dirty Projectors song as we'll ever get on "American Idol." It may have left the judges scratching their heads (Randy used the word "obliterated"), but Pitchfork would give it an 9.2. Personally, I dug it. The second night of "American Idol" showcased the talents of the 12 guys who are hoping to win the "Idol" title -- and then America voted. Todrick Hall kicked off the night with a unique version of Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone." Ellen DeGeneres began the critiques, saying, "That is what you are looking for after you sing a song. [The audience reaction.] You are dancer, so you already have a stage presence. The chorus was rough. The singing wasn't the greatest, but a great performance." Randy Jackson said, "I think you are mad talented, but I didn't even know what song it was. You never want to take a song and completely obliterate it. I still want to see you sing." On Wednesday, February 25, it was the guys' turn to take the stage of "American Idol" and garner votes from it. Todrick Hall was the first to perform and he took a bold step to re-arrange Kelly Clarkson's "Since You've Been Gone" to an R & B. Simon Cowell said, "I thought it was a crazy arrangement of the song. What you did was completely murder the original song. You can boo all you want, but nobody would buy it. I think what you did was verging on stupid."

"You're a good singer. Very likable. Very cute, but you have to take control of the song. I think absolutely 100 you'll be here this week," Simon said.

After a number of uneven, forgettable performances by the top 12 ladies Tuesday night, it was starting to feel like Simon Cowell's prediction that a female would win this year's "American Idol" was a bit premature. And then the men took the stage Wednesday night (February 24), and for most of the two hours, well, they seemed determined to prove Simon right.
From poor song choices to shaky vocals and clear nerves, one by one, the guys got hammered by the judges, with even front-runner Andrew Garcia drawing some fire for his somber Fall Out Boy cover as pinup cowboy Casey James appeared to slip into the pole position with his mix of good looks and strong vocals.
