There's something to be said for a first-season show where the struggle is real to find many negatives.
It's rare for a television series to have a perfect season, and we're certainly not going to say that Tracker Season 1 didn't have any flaws, but the show had a damn good start.
Justin Hartley was perfectly cast as reward seeker Colter Shaw, an independent man with a fractured family who devoted his life to travel, solitude, and helping to find missing people, sometimes even when they didn't necessarily want to be found.
The action drama was refreshing because it differed from the typical procedurals found everywhere else.
Tracker had cases of the week, but they were far from typical, and just the sheer fact that Colter took cases all over the country made for episodes that were wildly different from one week to the next.

Law & Order very nearly became the longest-running crime drama on television. If it hadn't been for a 10-year hiatus, it would have reached its 24th season a long time ago.
Thanks to that break, sister show Law & Order: Svu has pulled ahead by two seasons.
Still, Law & Order is one of NBC's most iconic shows, from its "dun dun" chime between scenes to its filming on location in New York City. It's high time for a cast and character guide to help you keep track of who you can expect to see (and not see!) during Law & Order Season 24.
Two Characters Are Not Coming Back
Many viewers were shocked when Jack McCoy (Sam Waterson) left Law & Order after over 400 episodes.
Waterson had been with the series since Season 4 and was probably more closely identified with it than any other character.

Briarcliff Entertainment wrapped and has set a 2025 wide theatrical release on Nickels, a life affirming drama directed by Spencer King (The Wilderness), and starring Rob Riggle, Aaron Holliday, Bitsie Tulloch, Rebecca Gayheart, Vinessa Shaw with Odessa A’zion and Tom Arnold. Tim Tuchrello wrote the script.
Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg green lit the film, which has been shooting in and around Los Angeles. Riggle stars as Tom Monroe, a successful entrepreneur and family man who tragically lost his older brother in a motorcycle accident as a teenager. Some 30 years later, another serious bike accident involving his neighbor’s son, Mitch Diller(Holliday) sets in motion a series of events that have Tom wondering if his brother has perhaps returned to his life. Tulloch plays the wife who tries to be supportive.

For over a decade, Roger Moore had the task of living up to everything that Sean Connery had put in place as 007. And while some will defend Moore forever, we can’t forget the clown costumes, slide whistles, gondola chases, and so much more that pushed James Bond into an uncharted level of ridiculousness. Perhaps all of this could have been prevented had Timothy Dalton not been so green, turning down On Her Majesty’s Secret Service because he was in his mid-20s. That’s all hypothetical, of course, but Timothy Dalton would go on to reinvent James Bond in a way that may not have sat with contemporary audiences but marked a true challenge for what it meant to carry the torch. Dalton played 007 just twice; and with that, we’d challenge you to name just as many worthwhile post-Bond movies from the underappreciated actor (who we’re...

Law & Order Season 24: Everything We Know So Far About the Latest Season of NBC's Iconic Crime Drama
Thursday nights wouldn't be the same without Law & Order.
The flagship cop/legal drama took a hiatus between 2010 and 2021, but it'll be kicking off NBC's Thursday night marathon of crime dramas again this fall.
That means more cases ripped from the headlines, more of Price butting heads with the new Da, and probably more miraculous last-minute wins in the courtroom.
The flagship series hasn't deviated much from the formula that made Law & Order successful in the 1990s. The cops still investigate a case straight out of recent news, usually a murder, and then turn the defendant over to the Da's office to be prosecuted.
Nowadays, there's more diversity in the police and legal sides of the criminal justice system than when Law & Order first began, and there's less ambiguity in the courtroom.

Before heading off to mainland China to direct those patriotic but commercially successful films like “Operation Mekong” (2016), “Operation Red Sea” (2018), “The Battle of Changjin” (2021), Dante Lam's last Hong Kong film starring Nick Cheung was “The Demon Within” (2014). Now, back to his roots and home turf almost a decade later and this time co-directing with Calvin Tong, he delivers us the extremely violent Category III, adults only “Bursting Point”, again with Cheung in the lead.

The first season of Legendary’s MonsterVerse TV series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters ran on Apple TV+ from November into January (you can read our own Alex Maidy’s review of the first batch of episodes Here), and while Godzilla was an important figure in that season, it wrapped up with an episode that indicated Kong might be taking the spotlight if there were to be a follow-up. The show was co-developed by Chris Black (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye), and during a recent interview with Gold Derby, Black said that Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 is aiming to be bigger and better – while giving viewers the Kong action they’re hoping to see.
Black told Gold Derby (with thanks to our friends at Bloody Disgusting for the transcription), “I think where we left the season gave us so much fertile territory for storytelling. Keiko comes back, we...

John Krasinski’s “If” presents a menagerie of celebrity-voiced imaginary friends who are in search of existential purpose after their kids grow up and forget them. Enter Ryan Reynolds, who runs a matchmaking service for the “IFs,” who live in a secluded retirement home at Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park in Coney Island.
Framestore handled the audacious fusion of live-action and CG animation and VFX (800 shots) spread across their London, Montreal, and Mumbai studios. Led by animation director Arslan Elver and VFX supervisor Chris Lawrence, the team worked closely with director-actor Krasinski to get believable performances out of the IFs on set or in post. Krasinski saw them as visceral, hyper-real puppets. The techniques included stand-ins to help the voice actors deliver full performances, placing the animated characters in the shot with VR, or the use of home-shot reference footage from the animators.

This may have been an hour devoid of Jensen Ackles (boo!), but the Shaw Family drama was creeping in the background of Tracker Season 1 Episode 13, as Colter headed back to a place his family used to frequent to help an old friend.
Said friend had a lot of interesting information for Colter and the audience to ponder over now that the first season of the CBS hit has come to a close.
There was much to enjoy about Tracker Season 1, as the Justin Hartley-led action drama lived up to the hype and became a bonafide hit with viewers who enjoyed the complex cases of the week and Hartley's appeal.
Was it perfect? Absolutely not.
But that's a discussion for another day and perhaps another article where we break down the season in a much larger context.
For now, let's concentrate on the finale, which saw...

Review: One cannot fault writer-director-star John Krasinski for a lack of ambition. He’s parlayed the success of his A Quiet Place franchise into this big-budget family film, which seems to aspire to be a live-action Pixar flick. However, in attempting to appeal to both children and adults, he’s made a movie targeting too vague an audience. If is too childish for adults, but it is also likely too serious and dramatic to keep kids entertained.

After taking us into A Quiet Place in two box office hits (with a prequel arriving very soon), actor/director/writer John Krasinski now guides us into a fairy noisy place, namely the inner life and fantasies of children. And going from sci-fi thrills to whimsey is quite the “lane change”, one that could end in disaster if not properly planned. Luckily he’s crafted a story and has enlisted a talented cast in front of the camera and the microphone. Yes, this is perhaps the most ambitious cartoon/live-action feature since the pairing of private eye Eddie Valiant and Roger Rabbit. And since it uses computer-generated “beasties” (rather than the 2-D classic style), Krasinski is touting it as a “live-action Pixar flick” (quite a goal). And he’s really putting those tech wizards to work in showing us the often unseen children’s side-kick, the invisible friend, here shortened to If.

Law & Order’s Season 23 finale on Thursday marked Camryn Manheim’s last episode as Lt. Kate Dixon — who won’t be returning next season — but the hour focused on Tony Goldwyn’s Da Baxter amid another high-profile murder investigation.
A famed sports star was killed, and detectives Shaw and Riley set out to find the culprit. Lt. Dixon oversaw the case on the police side, securing a warrant to arrest their main suspect, a stalker named Kyle Taggert who proved to be a valuable witness. It was his footage from that night which revealed Baxter was the intended target.

Uh-oh, the new Da may be in some serious trouble in the Law & Order Season 23 finale. The NBC drama wraps its current season on May 16 with “In Harm’s Way,” in which a sports star is killed, but Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) and Riley (Reid Scott) suspect the shooter missed their intended target. In fact, in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek, Dixon tells Baxter (Tony Goldwyn)—the shooting happened in front of him and his family—that he was the intended victim. “We had a trajectory analyst review the video of the shooting, and it’s clear he was aiming for you. If you hadn’t moved when you did, that bullet would’ve struck you squarely in the back of the head,” Dixon explains. There’s a citywide manhunt to track the shooter down. Baxter’s wife (Tara Westwood) thinks that Baxter should suspend his campaign for District Attorney.

Taking a break from terrorising the masses with his brilliant sci/horror franchise A Quiet Place – a prequel to the first two movies is currently in the works with Pig director Michael Sarnoski at the helm – John Krasinski is back again in front and behind the camera in If, the new live action kids movie from Paramount. And if numbers scored by early previews are anything to go by, the film looks to already be one of the biggest winners in this summer’s box office wars.
If (short for Imaginary Friend) is also written and produced by Krasinski. The film stars Cailey Fleming, Ryan Reynolds, Krasinski and legendary Irish film and stage actor Fiona Shaw, alongside the voices of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr. and Steve Carell.
The film follows Bea (Fleming), a 12 year old girl who is still finding hard it to come to terms with the death of her mother 4 years earlier.

The human imagination is a boundless frontier where grand exploration can occur, and in children, this exploration is particularly vibrant. It is this fearless imagination that allows children to envision themselves as anyone or anything. This manifestation is at the heart of John Krasinski’s film If, which delves into the wonders of childhood and the enduring power of imagination. Despite boasting a formidable cast including Krasinski, Ryan Reynolds, Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Steve Carell and the late Louis Gossett Jr., the film fails to fully capitalize on its potential. While charming in parts, it ultimately succumbs to a melodramatic and somewhat tedious narrative.

Wolverine #47 Writers: Benjamin Percy & Victor Lavalle | Artist: Geoff Shaw | Colourist: Alex Sinclair | Letters: Cory Petit
As the cover promises Laura takes the lead role for the majority of the issue. And all I can say is it’s about damn time! I have been waiting for her to play a part since the first issue. With the way this story arc has been structured it is effective to have this little detour with Laura in the driving seat. Remember we left the last issue with a strong cliffhanger so to suddenly veer off in this direction shows the strength and the confidence of the writing duo. On the subject of our dynamic duo, after 7 issues I finally noticed that on the cover either Percy or Lavalle’s name is first. Indicating who is the lead, in the case of #47 its Lavalle. I still think it’s more fun to guess though!

Jason Statham is someone who is admirably unpretentious and genuinely grateful for his success, and within that, he has a definite preference of films that can predominantly define his career. Earlier this year, Statham was seen in The Beekeeper, a seemingly usual action B-movie fare with the star, but the movie from Suicide Squad director David Ayer would throw in some bold conceptual curve balls to the normal vengeance tale. Deadline has now reported that Statham will be working with director Baltasar Kormákur for his next action film.
Kormákur’s resume features such credits as Contraband, 2 Guns, Everest and the recent Idris Elba lion attack film, Beast. When you pair up two ridiculously magnetic actors in an action-adventure series, what you get in return is one hell of an entertaining hour of television.
Tracker Season 1 Episode 12 may be the best installment since the pilot.
And I'll let you take a wild guess as to why that might be.
Whoever decided to cast Jensen Ackles as Russell Shaw deserves their favorite beverage of choice and big ol' hug because it was a perfect piece of casting.
Tracker has a knack for bringing in compelling guest actors every week, but there was something extra special about Jensen joining the fray, and it probably had to do with the fact his appearance was two-fold.
Not only was Russell a link to Colter's past and a beacon of information regarding the Shaw Family drama, but he was also a significant player in the case of the week.

Law & Order may be returning for Season 24 on NBC, but one of its most familiar faces will be gone.
Camryn Manheim’s three-season run on the procedural will end on May 16 with the Law & Order Season 23 finale.
It’s unclear at this point whether Manheim is walking away from the show of her own volition or if she becomes another casualty of the mass exodus plaguing Dick Wolf’s long-running procedural dramas across the broadcast TV landscape.
Manheim was a large part of the revival’s success and has emerged as a fan favorite in the role of Lt. Kate Dixon.
“I had the most incredible experience being a part of the Law & Order Universe, and more importantly the Wolfpack,” the actress shared in an Instagram statement.

Needless to say, I’m absolutely stoked by the recently released Disney Plus continuation of the 1990s animated TV series and have had X-Men on the brain 24/7 these days… seriously guys, I’ve worn this sweatshirt like every day since mid-March… And seeing as I’ve been let down by the last couple of movies I’ve covered on this show- Today I’m going to be selfish and talk about an entry in the Fox X-Men universe that I love. A film that breathed new life into the decaying franchise with exciting new timelines and a fresh filmmaker with bright eyes and a passion for comics. A movie that...

Glen Powell, Anthony Mackie and Academy Award winner Laura Dern have signed on to star in “Monsanto,” the latest film from writer-director John Lee Hancock.
The film follows the true story of young, untried attorney Brent Wisner (Powell), who in 2019 took on a seemingly insurmountable case against the giant U.S. chemical company Monsanto on behalf of Dewayne “Lee” Johnson (Mackie) who used the company’s best-known product Roundup, a wildly financially successful weed and grass pesticide killer, as part of his job as a high school groundskeeper. Dern plays Dr. Melinda Rogers, the Monsanto Company’s chief toxicologist, who testifies with certainty that Roundup is safe during the landmark cancer trial.

Under David Zaslav, Wbd has seen numerous painful rounds of cuts and price hikes, which don’t seem to be stopping any time soon.
Since merging Discovery and WarnerMedia in 2022, CEO David Zaslav has been almost singularly focused on slashing costs, increasing revenue, and paying down the more than $40 billion in debt that the combined company had just two years ago. In a new report from Blooberg's Lucas Shaw, sources indicate that Zaslav is looking to implement even more cost-cutting measures and increase streaming prices even more than he already has.
Key Details: CEO David Zaslav is looking to meet financial goals by combining cost-cutting and price-raising measures. Wbd has been telegraphing a price increase for over six months; Max is already one of the most expensive SVODs on the market. As Wbd fights to keep NBA rights, it will need to generate enough cash to pay roughly $2.5 billion per year.

Wyatt Russell has not been shy when talking about his great experience working with his father, legendary actor Kurt Russell, on the Apple TV+ drama “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.” But one question he’s frequently asked doesn’t have a satisfying answer.
“Normally, I’m asked, ‘What did you learn from your dad?’ And the answer to that is, ‘nothing,’ because I grew up with him,” Wyatt tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview. But ask Wyatt what insights he gleaned from working with Kurt on the show to build the character Lee Shaw – the army veteran at the center of a decades-spanning mystery within the MonsterVerse franchise universe – and that’s a different story.

With Jensen Ackles being Tracker’s first season’s exciting guest star in the upcoming episodes, the casting news isn’t over yet. The show’s final episodes of the season seemingly claim for a significant expansion of the narrative bringing in more and more new characters that would somehow enrich Colter Shaw’s storyline.
Now that leading actor Justin Hartley has confirmed it himself, another addition is making its way to Tracker — the thing here is that she’s not new to sharing the screen with Hartley.
In one of his recent interviews the actor revealed that season 1’s finale will also feature Jennifer Morrison “coming on to play a key role”. Those who enjoyed Hartley’s drama show This Is Us back then will instantly grasp the idea of who the actor is going to reunite with quite soon.

Now, we’re getting somewhere!
It’s been many weeks since there was any movement on the Shaw Family drama front, but Tracker Season 1 Episode 11 had a nice subplot that answered many questions and finally introduced to someone else in the family.
Colter’s sibling reunion, of course, surrounded a case, but the two opened up a communication line that seemed to have Colter questioning more things about his past.
Before getting into the Colter and Dory stuff, a very twisty and odd case was at the forefront here.
And it was a damn interesting one, with Colter first suspecting a college student may have just bitten off a little more than he could chew and then quickly realizing he’d found himself engaged in some pretty dark stuff.
A college student feeling overwhelmed and wanting to take a break certainly wouldn’t be abnormal. Still, from the sounds of things,...

Tracker fans who want to know more about Colton Shaw’s family will finally get to meet his sister in Season 1, Episode 11 entitled “Beyond The Campus Walls.” The CBS action drama series has slowly been unpeeling the layers of Colter’s past. But, this episode promises to open up a Pandora’s box of new questions.
It was in the series premiere that showed the Shaw family’s unusual story. Ashton and Mary Shaw were Berkeley professors. However, as Colter remembered it, there was an “incident with dad.” That led the family to move to a compound deep in the Sierra National Forest. Although they were off-grid, Ashton Shaw was very paranoid. Therefore, he taught his children survival’s skills. That means they learned to hunt and track, and climb a place called Devil’s Notch.

The Shaw family drama is finally getting some attention during Tracker Season 1 Episode 11.
The hour will see Colter team up with his little sister Dory when a grad student goes missing after a house party.
Said student goes to the college Dory works at, and we'll see the long-awaited reunion between Colter and one of his siblings, whom we've only seen in flashbacks.
Little is known about Dory, as she wasn't a main factor in the flashbacks we saw of the Shaw family. And in the present day, Colter hasn't spoken about her much, if at all.
We know he's been avoiding big brother Russell, who seemed desperate to speak with him earlier in the season, but it hasn't been made clear what his relationship with Dory is like.
Colter keeps to himself, as we've seen throughout Tracker Season 1. He isn't one to date, or go on many social outings.

CBS’ Tracker released earlier this year may have brought Justin Hartley to a whole new level of fame, but the actor’s face was very well-known before the show hit the channel back in February.
Several years before he landed the leading role in Tracker, Hartley starred in NBC’s family drama series This Is Us, the appearance in which may have foreseen something bigger coming in the actor’s way from CBS’ part in particular.
Though the series eventually ended back in 2022 letting Hartley jump straight to Tracker, such a transition surely felt like a drastic change in all aspects, but Hartley seemingly had no problem with it at all.
A brief disclaimer for those who didn’t get to see any of these shows so far: Hartley’s roles have solid zero matches in the characters’ looks and personalities. In This Is Us, the actor portrays Kevin Pearson,...

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently made his grand return to wrestling with the WWE, but the star might be taking his "heel" persona a little too far these days.

That's the latest scuttlebutt according to extensive reporting by Umberto Gonzalez of The Wrap, who paints an alarming picture of habitual lateness, deeply unprofessional behavior, and producing inexperience in several crucial roles. All of these factors seem to have come together to turn what was initially envisioned as a straight-to-streaming original and a potential franchise starter...

The mystery that shrouded stories told in procedural dramas like Law & Order has always been a key element that kept the viewers close to their screens waiting for another crime to be brilliantly solved.
And though throughout the years of the genre’s existence such kind of plot has become a bit trite, its popularity never fell victim to other hyping storylines — but a slight change of shape has surely done a good thing for crime-coded series.
One of CBS' most recent hits, an action drama show Tracker, comes as a striking example of the fact that the story can take a drastically different turn if just one element from the plot gets changed for something else.

If you've been wondering when we'll meet the mysterious, potentially deadly old brother of our favorite reward-seeker, Colter Shaw, you are in Big-time luck.
News dropped officially via Justin Hartley's Ig page that Jensen Ackles -- yes, That Jensen Ackles -- would be joining Tracker as Russell Shaw. And the internet is going Wild.
Why are they going crazy, exactly? Because Justin Hartley and Jensen Ackles teaming up in an action-adventure series as brothers is just about the most perfect casting I've seen in a while.
And it goes far beyond the fact that they could actually pass for long-lost siblings.
Colter's journey throughout Tracker Season 1 has taken him across the United States, where he's helped countless people track down missing loved ones and even those who weren't necessarily looking to be found.
But while he's been racing around, saving the day and collecting his paychecks, he hasn't been able to outrun his past.

This article contains spoilers for "X-Men '97."
Episode 5 of "X-Men '97" — "Remember It" — may very well go down as the most shocking TV moment of 2024. Adapting the dark "X-Men" comic storyline "E Is For Extinction" by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, a giant Sentinel razed the new mutant homeland of Genosha, killing thousands, if not millions.
Episode 6, "Lifedeath Part 2," took a break focusing instead on the absent Storm and Professor X, but episode 7, "Bright Eyes," explores the fallout of Genosha. It picks up about a week later when the X-Men are hosting a rainy funeral for Gambit. They go back to Genosha to continue searching for more survivors. They find one: Emma Frost, White Queen of the Hellfire Club.
Emma, who was part of Genosha's short-lived ruling council, is a telepath. During the attack, she unlocked a second mutation to turn her skin diamond hard, so she survived being crushed under rubble.
