The Monday, April 22 live episode of “American Idol” Season 22 proved to be the end of the road for two fan-fave singers: Jayna Elise and Roman Collins. They were the only artists in the Top 12 that failed to earn enough votes from viewers to make it into next week’s all-important Top 10. Host Ryan Seacrest delivered the unfortunate news in front of judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. The guest mentor for “Billboard #1 Hits” night was Meghan Trainor.
Throughout the competition, Jayna sang tunes like “The Climb” (Auditions round), “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” (Showstopper round), “Confident” (Top 24 round), “My All”, “All I Wanted”, “I Have Nothing” (Top 14 round) and “Diamonds” (Top 12 round). The 22-year-old performer from Washington, D.C. actually began her journey last year on “Idol,” but was eliminated prior to the Season 21 live shows. The good news is that she made it much further this time around.

Ahead of American Idol‘s upcoming 22nd season, the judges are taking a stroll down memory lane (by way of the Yellow Brick Road) in a technicolorful new promo.
Released on Friday, the video casts Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and host Ryan Seacrest as iconic characters from The Wizard of Oz. And while the boys are sort of dressed like Dorothy’s travel companions, Perry is once again the only judge who fully commits to the bit. (Seriously, it’s like Disney Night all over again.)

It has been a whirlwind for Megan Danielle, who went from working as a server in Douglasville, Georgia to the bright lights of Hollywood and American Idol. The 21-year-old made it all the way to the Top 2 of season 21 of the singing competition during the grand finale on May 21. Although Iam Tongi would take the crown this year, Danielle remains forever grateful for all the blessings given to her throughout the experience. Despite the gritty country singer being chosen for Team Kelly Clarkson as a teen on The Voice in 2020, she continued to battle through self-confidence issues on Idol. She made the most of her second chance on the grand stage. To not only get out of her own head but to honor her late “Paw-Paw” grandfather Chuck, whom she lost a little over a year ago. Here Danielle opens up about her time on Idol and what she’ll take from it.
