Since the debut of the One Piece anime, the one allegation that has been haunting the creators of the series is that they overly sexualize their female characters. Be it Nami or Bonney, many fans believe that Toei Animation goes out of its way to flaunt One Piece’s female characters which is unjustified.

These accusations regarding the alleged objectification of women in One Piece have significantly grown after the time skip and while Eiichiro Oda has many times stated that they have never intended to do such a thing, the anime scenes and portrayals say otherwise. This has also severely affected the One Piece series.
Although there have not been many serious allegations that could rupture the reputation One Piece has built over the years, they tend to shift the focus of the story from the plotlines and characters to such issues which is never a...

The combination of strikes led by the Writer’s Guild of America and the Screen Actor’s Guild brought the industry to a halt when WGA started theirs back in May and ran through the end of SAG-AFTRA’s in November. It affected the Tony Awards, which went unscripted after getting a waiver, and also caused the 2023 Emmys to be moved to January of 2024.

Jared Leto in the role of Joker in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad might not have been successful enough at the theatres, but he did leave the cast and crew horrified with his ghastly gifts. From giving an*l beads and using c*ndoms to live animals, the actor left everyone shocked with the method actor in him. Today, we brought you a throwback to when Leto presented his cast with a dead pig; his co-star Viola Davis once shared the incident, and here’s what she said.
The comic book movie came out in 2016 and featured many eminent Hollywood actors, including Will Smith, Viola, and Margot Robbie. Leto received a lot of criticism for his role, and many call his version of the titular Gotham villain allegedly the worst in the lot.

Sofia Coppola’s eighth feature doesn’t hit theaters for another few months, but you’d be forgiven if you thought it was actually Amanda, writer-director Carolina Cavalli’s darkly humorous, stylish feature debut about an indolent young woman looking for a friend. Consider its opening frame: a little girl lounging alone in a pool while munching on cereal and basking in the afternoon shadow of her bourgeois family’s Italian villa. When she subsequently splashes into the water, nearly drowning in front of her older sister and housekeeper, it’s clear that her brief life of solitary luxury has already thrust an incommunicable existential crisis upon her. You almost expect Stephen Dorff’s absentee father from Somewhere to have been responsible.
Things aren’t much better for Amanda (Benedetta Porcaroli) as a 25-year-old, living independently in her hometown after finishing school in Paris. Instead of taking on the duties...

The first thing that struck returning “Queen of the Universe” judges Michelle Visage, Trixie Mattel and Vanessa Williams was how beautiful the Season 2 contestants were. TheWrap caught up with the trio ahead of Friday’s season premiere.
“The first day on a drag show is exciting for me because that’s when you see everybody for the first time,” Visage, who also serves as a judge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” said. “I love that.”
“There was a few the first day when they walked out where we looked at each other like ‘This bitch,'” Mattel recalled. “Some of these competitors are so beautiful. Their faces, the way the light hits it, the way these competitors know how to apply makeup for TV — these are some of the prettiest queens I’ve ever seen in my life, to be honest.”

Actress Viola Davis spoke about hustling “for her worth” early on in her career.
While she can now claim Egot status as one of 18 people to have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony throughout their careers, the 57-year-old actress admitted that in the early days, she had to learn to “embrace” her true self in pursuit of success, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“You always feel like you’re hustling for your worth, as a woman, and as a black woman. After a while when you get beaten down so many times, there is something that happens that you have a God divine moment (of) seeing yourself and who you actually want to be,” she told People.
“And you make a choice: You want to live, you want hope, you want to be that sort of ideal self, or are you going to embrace the person that you don’t want to be?...

The “small film with a giant heart” has forced the academy to change its Oscar campaign rules. On Monday, months after Andrea Riseborough landed a shock Best Actress nomination for the micro-indie “To Leslie” following a controversial awards campaign, the academy revealed new promotional rules for the 2024 Oscars and beyond.
“The campaign promotional regulations, which specify how motion picture companies and individuals directly associated with Oscars-eligible motion pictures may promote such motion pictures, achievements and performances to Academy members and how Academy members may promote Oscars-eligible motion pictures, achievements and performances, underwent the most significant overhaul since their inception in 1994,” the academy said in a statement.
Among the so-called “substantive updates and changes of note” included:
Clarification of rules regarding private events and gatherings. Clarification of rules regarding general and direct communications to Academy members. Clarification of rules regarding public communications, including on social media. Clarification of rules for “For Your Consideration” screenings,...

Viola Davis has already won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and two Tonys, and Monday night she became only the third person to have an Egot and Film at Lincoln Center’s prestigious Chaplin Award, a feat only achieved by Mike Nichols and Audrey Hepburn.
At Monday’s Chaplin Award gala in New York, which Film at Lincoln Center president Lesli Klainberg said is meant to recognize Davis’ “whole career” and honor “someone whose career is still ahead of them as well,” the acclaimed actress and producer told The Hollywood Reporter that what she really wants to do is direct.
“I feel like I have a director’s head,” Davis said. “I love tapping into [other actors’] potential. And I’m always watching movies saying, ‘If that beautiful actor had just done this, this and that…'”

Chastain was on hand to pay tribute to her “The Help” co-star Davis, sharing during her speech: “When I see a movie like ‘The Woman King’, it has Viola’s fingerprints all over it.
“A movie like that with a female director [Gina Prince-Bythewood] and a cast of powerful Black female leads can get made in Hollywood today because of Viola’s lifelong advocacy for women of colour.

Viola Davis is detailing her next dream role: an undead thriller.
The Egot winner and “Air” actress told IndieWire that she has her sights set on a “Train to Busan”-esque zombie film to conquer another onscreen genre.
“A lot of things I haven’t done in my career. Listen, I would love to do a zombie movie,” Davis said. “Now I say that, in shooting it, I don’t know if I can distinguish between the real and the fiction because if someone was running at me as a zombie, I don’t know. You might hear some stories. But I want a ‘Train to Busan.’ I want my version of ‘Train to Busan.’ I want to fight some zombies. That’s what I want to do.”
Davis was being honored at the 48th Annual Chaplin Gala, where Meryl Streep and Jessica Chastain were in attendance to fete the star.

It took about an hour of speeches saluting Viola Davis during the Film at Lincoln Center’s 48th annual Chaplin Gala before someone addressed the elephant in the room.
“When I see a movie like ‘The Woman King,’ it has Viola’s fingerprints all over it,” said Davis’ “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby” co-star Jessica Chastain. “A movie like that with a female director and a cast of powerful Black female leads can get made in Hollywood today because of Viola’s lifelong advocacy for women of color. Maybe one day a movie like that can get nominated for an Oscar.”
The statement was met with enthusiastic applause from an audience comprised of Lincoln Center donors, industry colleagues, and plenty of acting students from Davis’ alma mater, Juilliard. It was an explicit callout to the biggest Oscar snub to cast a shadow over last year’s awards season, and contextualized...

[This story contains spoilers from the fifth episode of Yellowjackets season two, “Two Truths and a Lie.”]
Yellowjackets was praised for its casting after the first season introduced characters so adeptly shared by two sets of actresses. In following the dual timelines on the hit Showtime series, the teenage Yellowjackets soccer team and the adults they become — after surviving the 1996 plane crash and 19 months in the wilderness — melded together with the teen and adult versions of Shauna (Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse), Natalie (Juliette Lewis and Sophie Thatcher), Misty (Christina Ricci and Samantha Hanratty) and Taissa (Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown).
The second season expanded the roster of survivors from four to six when it first introduced adult Lottie, played by newcomer Simone Kessell, in the premiere and, after a brief introduction at the end of episode four, viewers finally got to meet adult Van, played by Lauren Ambrose, when she and adult Taissa (Cypress) reunited in the fifth episode.

Jamie Foxx’s health struggle continues. While the actor is improving following his undisclosed “medical complication” last week, he remains under professional care.
A source tells Et that the 55-year-old actor remains hospitalized six days after his daughter, Corinne, first announced that her father had suffered from an unspecified health crisis on April 12.
“He is healing,” the source says. “He feels the love from everyone.”
When Corinne first announced the news, she wrote in a post on social media, “We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery.”
Corinne turned off the comments on the post, and did not go into detail on what the “medical complication” the actor suffered was. Et reached out to Foxx’s rep for comment.

Actor Denzel Washington has often been an admirer of Oscar-winner Viola Davis and her acting abilities. Working with her in person, however, helped reawaken something in the actor that’d been lacking for quite some time.

Davis wasn’t a movie star yet by the time she appeared in the film Antwone Fisher. The How to Get Away With Murder star was mostly known for her contributions in theater.
