Rick Clifford is the Co-ordinating Producer for USA Network's coverage
of the PGA Tour. In this capacity he oversees show and element
production as well as implementation. He has served as the live
Director for USA's coverage of the PGA Tour and began doing so in 2000
at USA's Golf studio in St. Augustine, Florida. In addition, he has
directed the Preview Show for The Players Championship. Clifford is the
Producer / Director of Post Production for USA Network's
critically-acclaimed tennis coverage of the US Open and has served in
this capacity since 1996. In addition to his live line producing and
directing responsibilities, he produces features, highlight segments
and promos while overseeing the design and operation of on-site edit
rooms, as well as post production quality control. After serving for
six years as the Associate Director at the French Open, he began
directing the live broadcast in 2001. He produced his first live event
for USA's coverage at the French Open in 1997. In his 10 years at USA,
he has filled a variety of production roles for USA Sports' diverse
schedule. He was the Co-ordinating Producer for the 2003 Westminster
Dog Show. He was the Associate Producer for USA's weekly boxing series
"Tuesday Night Fights". He has held the position of Associate Director
for both "The Ryder Cup" and "The Masters", two of the most prestigious
golf events. For USA's Skating line up, he was the Feature Producer for
"Champions on Ice", an Associate Producer for the "Skating Romance"
series, and the Associate Director for "Improv-Ice". His home video
credits include Producer of the 1998 and 1999 "Westminster Kennel Club
Dog Show Home Video" and Associate Producer and Writer of the "1994 US
Open Home Video".
Clifford graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University with a B.S. in Television, Radio, and Film Production. In 1998 he served as a judge for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Sports Emmy Awards. He has also worked in a variety of production capacities for ABC Sports ("College Football Today", "Baseball Night in America", and "NYC Marathon"), NBC Sports ("NYC Marathon"), CBS Sports (NCAA College Basketball Tournament), ESPN ("1996 Olympic Trials" coverage) and Bob Banner & Associates ("Showtime at the Apollo," and "Uptown Comedy Club"). A native of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, Clifford currently lives in New Jersey.
