Chennai, May 25 (Ians) Lucknow Super Giants’ skipper Krunal Pandya has taken all blame for his team’s defeat in the Eliminator match of Indian Premier League (Ipl) 2023 as his untimely dismissal to an atrocious shot into motion a sequence of events that resulted in team’s eventual defeat.
Krunal Pandya promoted himself in the batting order and came in at No.4 but was out for eight runs, jumping out to attempt a big one against veteran spinner Piyush Chawla but ended up finding Tim David at long-on.
Though Chawla played his role, Krunal Pandya too contributed to his own downfall as playing the shot was totally unnecessary.
“We were in a really good position. Everything started when I played that shot… that was not on, and I completely take all the blame. The wicket was the same. We just had to bat better, just take that responsibility. But we didn...

Mumbai, May 10 (Ians) Royal Challengers Bangalore wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik was feeling unwell after getting out following a 17-ball 30 cameo against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede on Tuesday and therefore did not keep wickets during the Mumbai innings.
The 37-year old Karthik was seen bowing and coughing as he walked off the pitch after getting out. He nearly vomited in the field.
After the match, Rcb head coach and former India batsman Sanjay Bangar said Karthik was not feeling well but still went out to bat. He said he vomited after coming back to the dugout as he was feeling sick.
“During the course of his innings, Dinesh started feeling unwell. He was a little bit dehydrated and he also vomited after he was dismissed. There is enough gap for us, maybe 3-4 days, and with medicines, he should be fine,” said Bangar in the post-match press conference.

Chennai, May 7 (Ians) Nehal Wadhera, who brought up his maiden Ipl fifty to take Mumbai Indians (Mi) to a respectable total after a wobbly start against Chennai Super Kings (Csk) in an Ipl 2023 match, has said that the next time he goes head-to-head with Matheesha Pathirana, he would have better plans to score runs against the Sri Lankan pacer.
Pathirana was on fire in his spell, giving away just 15 runs in his four overs, not conceding a single boundary while picking three wickets and denied Mumbai the finishing kick they needed after losing their top three batters in power-play.
After a dismal start, Wadhera along with Suryakumar Yadav steadied the Mumbai innings, stitching a 55-run partnership. The former, however, fell in the 11th over, leaving the mantle fair and square on Wadhera.
The 22-year-old then established a 50-run stand with Tristan Stubbs to take the total to 139/8, which Csk chased...

Ipl 2023: We had an off-day as a batting unit, admits Rohit Sharma after Mi's six-wicket loss to Csk
Chennai, May 6 (Ians) After losing by six wickets to Chennai Super Kings (Csk) in match 49 of Indian Premier League (Ipl) 2023 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma admitted that his side had an off-day with the bat.
Pushed into batting first, Mumbai’s innings never got going as they lost their top-three in Power-play. Barring Nehal Wadhera’s 64 off 50 balls, his maiden Ipl fifty and twin fifty-plus stands with Suryakumar Yadav and Tristan Stubbs, there was nothing of note as Mumbai ended up at 139/8, which Chennai chased down with 14 balls to spare.
“Everywhere, I guess. Our batters didn’t put up enough runs. We had an off-day as a batting unit,” said a dejected Rohit Sharma in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Looking forward to this game. We have had some injuries but Jofra is back and that is the only change. Wankhede is a good pitch to bat on and it gets better as the game goes on, hopefully we restrict them and chase it down later,” said Rohit at the toss.

Mumbai, April 4 (Ians) Over the years, Mumbai Indians have prided themselves in giving opportunities to young talent and backing them to the hilt as they discover and realise their full potential. They did that too in their opening match of the Indian Premier League 2023.
When Mumbai Indians took on Royal Challengers Bangalore in their season opener in Ipl 2023, they fielded four uncapped players in their starting XI, two of whom were playing their first-ever Ipl match.
It’s something coach Mark Boucher spoke about ahead of the season too.
“The Ipl is a massive event and it’s going to be a great opportunity for some of our young boys to really show up,” Boucher had said.
“The way Mumbai Indians have selected their squads over the last few years has been, how you invest in youngsters for the future. It’s now time for those youngsters to show up and basically get the opportunities,...
